Maybe China Can Keep Him

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin has been quarantined in China after someone on the plane he was on had symptoms of Swine Flu (H1N1) so Nagin (as well as others) was quarantined.

Maybe if we are lucky the Chinese will keep him. That would be best for the people of New Orleans though China might regret keeping him.

But they will have a good spokesperson if a natural disaster strikes and affects a lot of Chinese. Nagin can go on TV and cry that they need Greyhound buses and blame George Bush for the disaster.

Obama’s Katrina Is In Kentucky

The state of Kentucky has a lot of people without power and without basic supplies. 42 people have died as a result of the ice storms that hit the middle part of the United States this past week. The storms hit about five days ago and even though people are dying, Obama’s FEMA is nowhere to be found.

Yep, it has been five days and Barack Obama has not sent FEMA in to rescue people. He has not sent in generators so that people could have power and he has not sent in water so people would not have to get it from the creeks. Obama has not sent FEMA to the region and by all accounts Obama has not done a thing to help.

Barack Obama must hate white people.

When hurricane Katrina hit the Democrats used the disaster to gain political traction. They made claims that Bush was too slow to respond, that he hated black people, that his response was slow because most of those affected were black, that he did not do enough and he did nothing quickly enough. This played out over and over as the MSM made victims of people who refused to leave town before the storm hit. We all watched on TV as people were rescued from roofs because they refused to leave town. We also watched as people who were so accustomed to government providing for them stood in water looking around for help and unable to walk themselves to the nearby dry land.

To this day the left mentions Katrina and discusses the failure as a black mark on the Bush administration even though the majority of the blame belonged on the Democratic governor of the state and the Democratic mayor of New Orleans. Bush and FEMA got most of the blame because it was politically good for the Democrats and their media wing played right along.

I am willing to bet that the media are not as hard on Obama with regard to Kentucky as they were on Bush with New Orleans. Obama has neglected the people of Kentucky and there are no media around to tell the story like when Katrina hit. Then it was wall to wall with all the big names lining up to bash Bush over his mishandling of the hurricane response.

The media are not in Kentucky with wall to wall coverage about people dying in the cold while Obama sits in his extremely warm and toasty Oval Office. No media to provide constant coverage of FEMA and its terrible response because Obama has not deployed FEMA so there is no response. Kentucky has some FEMA folks in the Emergency Operations Center but that is not going to help much.

I guess the media are ignoring this because there are not a bunch of poor black folks sitting on roofs crying about their fate. There is no Republican president to hammer over the issue.

Instead they have a black president who obviously hates white people in red states and he is showing his hatred by not sending in FEMA and by not helping. He has not even flown into the area to survey the damage. It is cold there and he is from Hawaii you know. Maybe he will consider gracing those people with his presence but only after he has his Superbowl party. If it were Bush the left would be having fits.

Maybe he can take Al Gore with him to discuss global warming as the cause…

Of course the folks in Kentucky say it would be nice to have the resources of FEMA but they can get along without the feds helping.

“I’m not saying we can’t handle it,” Smith said. “We’re handling it. But it [FEMA help] sure would have made life a lot easier.” My Way News

Maybe, in the aftermath of Katrina where people complained about sole source contracts, the feds are out soliciting bids to help in Kentucky. Anyone familiar with the government bidding process already knows it will be Summer and all the people in Kentucky will be past this incident before the government approves anything.

But at least there will be none of those dastardly no bid contracts that drive liberals mad (unless Bill Clinton is issuing them).

Blue State: We need help, send Greyhound buses, the gubmint did not help. Where’s my $5000 debit card so I can get liquor and go to the nudie bar?

Red State: We can manage. It would have been a lot easier with their help but we will make it.

The last time I wrote about New Orleans I got over a hundred comments from people who live there all sniveling and blaming their woes on the government. I never saw where one took any responsibility or said that local government shared any of it. It was all the Corps of Engineers and Bush. I don’t imagine anything has changed so they still feel that way. But at least now they know that their messiah Obama hates white people and the folks in Kentucky are not getting FEMA help. Maybe, just maybe the folks in NO can watch and learn how people do things when they have to rough it for a while…

Democrats Laugh At Potential New Orleans Disaster

I have written about Michael Moore and his remark that the hurricane heading toward Louisiana just as the Republican National Committee is about to start is proof that God exists. One might be able to excuse this because Moore is a mouth piece for Democrats and so severely brain damaged that he is a moron. If it were only Moore they might excuse it but now we have two more Democrats who have no regard for the people of New Orleans and think it is wonderful that a hurricane is heading there at this time because it will (they believe) help them.

Former National Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Don Fowler and Congressman John Spratt of South Carolina were on a plane heading out of Denver after their convention. They engaged in a conversation and it is reported that they were mocking Sarah Palin and dismissing her as a candidate who offers nothing more than the fact she is female. Then the subject of the hurricane came up and Fowler says that the timing of the hurricane is that it will hit when the convention starts. He is laughing about it the entire time and then says it demonstrates that God is on their side.

Now this all might be hearsay and they might have denied that the conversation ever took place if Absentee from RedState had not been behind them on the plane and video recorded the conversation (evidently starting after they discussed Palin).

Here we have Democrats laughing about a hurricane that is heading for New Orleans and causing havoc. It wasn’t bad enough that they let the Democratic Mayor and Democratic Governor screw things up during Katrina and then blame everything on George Bush in order to get political gain (at the expense of human suffering) but now they are laughing about a hurricane that is reported to be a Category 4. They do not care that people could die and that there will be quite a bit of destruction.

Fortunately, Bobby Jindal is now in charge and he has mobilized 7000 National Guardsmen and has 700 other personnel coming in. He has also closed schools in certain areas for Tuesday and Wednesday. All of this proactive work while Democrats laugh in delight at the though of a hurricane entering during the Republicans’ convention. The fact that Jindal is being proactive and is working with the federal government in advance not only demonstrates leadership but shows how things could have been done when Katrina hit, if the Democrats only had people who know how to lead. There is even a novel idea of using school buses to haul people away from the city instead of letting the buses sit on a lot and get flooded. Who would have though a bus could be used to carry people. Certainly not Mayor Nagin who left 500 buses to get flooded instead of using them to evacuate people during the disaster of Katrina.

There is a mandatory evacuation order for New Orleans but this does not mean people have to leave. They can just be arrested if they are outside their homes. People have been told that if they stay they should not expect any help. Therefore, I don’t expect to see all the Democrats screaming about people stranded and left behind and needing help that they could not get. I don’t want to hear Kanye West and the Democratic party discuss how George Bush hates black people. It is very clear that people should leave and it is even more clear that if they do not they are on their own. NO HELP for putting their own lives at risk.

Maybe the Democrats will be too busy laughing about the hurricane to make any accusations.

Maybe New Orleans Learned Something

The third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina arrives in a few days and the people in New Orleans are nervous about another hurricane that is heading in their direction. Hurricane Gustav is expected to become a category 3 hurricane and make landfall somewhere along the US Gulf Coast. The city is planning for a mandatory evacuation in case the storm tracks toward the city and Mayor Ray “Chocolate” Nagin left the Democratic National Convention to get home to manage things. One can only hope (hey an Obama reference) that he manages things better than he did last time. One thing is for sure, with a Republican Governor there won’t be any state level incompetence like was experienced under Governor Blanco.

The City has plans to order a mandatory evacuation if the storm is within 72 hours of landfall if the track shows it will come anywhere near the place. Congratulations to New Orleans! They learned a lesson. Evacuate when there is danger and make the evacuation MANDATORY. If the (lack of) leadership there had done this when Katrina was heading there we would not have had all those people suffer. The lack of local leadership caused misery (despite what the left wants you to believe about the federal government causing it). If they had gotten out back then we would not have had people die, they would not have been stranded and they would not have tied up resources (like helicopters) to effect rescues. We could have come in, assessed the damage and began rebuilding. Instead we had delays because of rescue and recovery instead of a fully effective federal response (of course there were problems at that level as well).

Here are a few things to contemplate:

  • Why is it that a memorial to Katrina and the victims has been built but they keep complaining that the city has not been rebuilt? Seems they have their priorities mixed up.
  • Maybe though, it is a good thing they have not finished rebuilding. If this storm is going to demolish stuff then it might just as well be stuff that is already destroyed.
  • Will the federal government send resources there to stage a few days in advance so that the Democrats cannot complain about response times. I might add that FEMA responded within its allotted time of 72 hours AFTER an incident.
  • Isn’t it ironic that another storm is heading there as the Republicans are preparing for their convention? As Democrats continue to erroneously pin the horror on Republicans another storm is arriving to remind us of the disaster. Maybe we should send an Army Division there now to help evacuate and make sure things run well so Democrats won’t have anything else to lie about.
  • Anyone have the feeling that things were being planned well while Nagin was away and now that he is heading home it will all be screwed up?
  • I bet there will not be any buses abandoned this time around.
  • In case people are as stupid as Jesse Jackson who kept asking “where did you want them to go (in reference to using the buses), the answer is NORTH. Get in the buses and head north. Stay at a rest stop or truck stop until it is over and then go home. Maybe the Democrats can set up a nice place for you. I understand they have a pretty concentration camp set up in Denver.
  • If NO gets hit again can we skip the taxpayer welfare to rebuild it and just use the money already allocated and not spent?

People of New Orleans, pay attention. Your leaders are contemplating a mandatory evacuation and if they issue the order GET OUT. You will get plenty of warning and your leaders are actually acting like they know how to lead so there should be no excuses. I don’t want to hear any crying about people stranded without drinking water or on roof tops.

My wife just returned from NO. She said she had a good time and enjoyed it. I have never had the desire to go there and I lived in LA for nearly five years. I would feel better if they filled NO in and rebuilt a few more miles inland.

Plans for New Orleans

I have a post up comparing the response of citizens in Iowa to those of New Orleans and in it I make a comparison of the cultural differences that left those in New Orleans in dire straights, pointing their fingers at the federal government and crying racism to the Iowans, who are having problems such as looting, and how they reacted to the crisis there.

I was flamed by a bunch of people who live in New Orleans and who blame the entire issue on the federal government and the Corps of Engineers who built the levees poorly and caused the whole issue. Not one of the commenters defending New Orleans could find one issue that lays some of the blame on the corrupt government pervasive in Louisiana and particularly present in New Orleans. New Orleans was not that bad. It could not have been if William Jefferson had time to take military vehicles and soldiers away from rescue mission in order to go check on his house and remove the bribe money he had in his freezer. He had time to do all that and then leave without checking on the people affected by the flood. Ray Nagin stayed in a hotel in the fetal position and Governor Blanco cried on TV. Neither of them was on the ground in NO directing things.

Things could not have been that bad since all the cops stopped what they were doing and helped the looters and then left town. Certainly things could not be too bad if the cops could leave. Let’s fault everyone else for not getting there immediately and helping out when those sworn to stay and help, left.

Of course, what happened there was a tragedy. It was caused by many things and there is plenty of blame to go around. I know it sucks but I did not do it, I did not cause it, I did not abandon anyone and I did not commit crimes after it. Even though I had nothing to do with it happening my tax dollars have been sent there to fix it (not only mine but a lot of people’s). I said at the time they needed to watch every penny like a hawk because it would be spent on non flood related items. Mary Landreau submitted a 400+ page request that had us paying for alligator farms in areas NOT affected by the storm. I guess she figured she could use the tragedy and our generosity to gussy up the place. When your major concern after such an incident is having Mardi Gras, you have priority issues.

I felt sorry for the people when this happened but to tell the truth I am tired of hearing all the whining about it from those living there. They have enough time to type on their computers perhaps they should spend it working. I know 90% of the people got out and did what is right and it might seem unfair for me to paint with a broad brush based on the 10% who did not. However, a lot of people certainly painted the government with a broad brush based on the failure of about 10% of the people. No other state affected by Katrina is getting rebuilt any faster and I don’t hear them crying. I did not hear them then.

Here is my plan for New Orleans. Bulldoze the place in. Fill it wil concrete or dirt. It would be best if they dug a ditch across the southern border and pushed all the dirt into New Orleans and let the water back fill the ditch. Fill the ditch with alligators and that will keep the ILLEGAL immigrants down. Filling in New Orleans will keep it from getting flooded again. Then, they can build a city inland where it is above sea level.

Other than that, I don’t want to hear about all their problems. I did not cause them and about now I don’t care about them.

The victim mentality…
