Swiss To Punish US?

The right-wing Swiss People’s Party (SVP) wants to punish the US for the pressure it put on the country’s biggest bank, UBS, resulting in the release of thousands of names of American clients who are hiding their money to avoid taxes. The SVP wants the country to refuse residents of Gitmo, something it has stated it might be willing to help with. The party also wants Switzerland to reconsider representing the US in countries where it has no diplomatic representation.

I can understand the party’s position but the reality is UBS was helping Americans break the tax laws. As far as what Switzerland does, that is their business.

What I want to know is who is on that list. I want to see the list of tax cheats made public so the rest of us who have been footing the bills can see who has been avoiding what the rest of us are forced to comply with. I think that if any elected officials are on that list then they must resign their positions immediately.

People on that list must also be forced to pay taxes with interest and penalties. They cannot get a Rangel, Daschle or Geithner deal where they only have to pay the taxes owed.

The government worked hard to get the names. The names cannot be hushed up. They must be made public.

Hey dumb a$$, I said anyone. I don’t care who they are. I also said any politician. Unlike you mouth breathers I want the rule of law obeyed by everyone.

The fact is I said everyone moron.

It might also illuminate the folly of our tax system, and the outrageous fiction that increasing taxes on ‘the rich’ will increase revenue. The sick reality is that the rich don’t pay taxes. The US Tax Code is so arcane and convoluted that anyone who can afford a tax lawyer can get away with paying zip. It’s on of the reasons why Congress always passes “Corporate Taxes”. Think of how STUPID that is. How the f@&k can a corporation pay a tax? It’s you and me and the stockholders who pay it because the corporation is just going to raise prices to cover the tax. But Congress deludes themselves into thinking that this is a back door way to stick it to rich people, and the sheeple believe it. Ha!

Fair Tax or Flat Tax, the IRS is a criminal enterprise and needs to go away.

BTW Didn’t The One promise to bring us back into favor in the world? Wasn’t part of the Hopenchange message that Bush had made us a pariah in the world, that everyone hated Americans because of Bush?

So how is it that the EU is planning to sue us and create a trade war with us? The Canadians are angry about our stimulous and the possible nationalization of our health care system (where will Candadians be able to go to get good health care then?), the Chinese are threatening us with fiscal sanctions, and now the Swiss are all pissy because we have the audacity to dictate what their banking laws should be? I thought this was all going to change.

Follow up question, does the refusal of any country to take the Gitmo detainees seem like we are now liked in the world?
