The Obama Nazis and Other Things

FIRST DEBATE IN THE BOOKS, PRETTY MUCH A DRAW

Well, it looks like the first debate is out of the way. I think that it was a draw for the most part. McCain showed a great deal of life experience that Obama could only hope for and Obama showed why he was anxious to get the debate under way. He spent 3 days memorizing his lines and he wanted to be able to use them before he forgot them. He looked rehearsed and he looked like he was citing memorized items but he did a good job in delivering them and not making a serious mistake. McCain appeared to be speaking from experience rather than what was written for him in a book. I believe McCain showed he was a leader and Obama seemed to be exasperated at times. No shock, each camp says their guy won. I think it was pretty even. There are not gotchas from it and neither made a critical mistake. It was rather boring. Perhaps the major mistake, if you want to call it that, is Obama saying he agreed with McCain a number of times. Reporters there said it would end up in a commercial and it did, before the debate even ended.

Barack Obama is a liberal and he says he is interested in the rights of people. He is not interested in their right to keep their money and he will increase taxes on everyone. Make no mistake, he is making the same promises Clinton did and then went back on as soon as he was in office. Keep in mind the lower 40% of wage earners pay absolutely no taxes at all.

OBAMA NAZIS ON THE MOVE

Looks like Obama has his Nazis out in full patrol. There will be storm troopers in the guise of badged law enforcement officers and state’s attorneys looking for people who make untrue statements about Obama.

The Barack Obama campaign is asking Missouri law enforcement to target anyone who lies or runs a misleading TV ad during the presidential campaign. KMOV

If law enforcement decides to target anyone who lies in politics then they should be able to clean up in DC. It is a target rich environment. How about Obama? He has told lies so if he passes through will he be targeted. This is the same tactic that Obama and his Nazis have been using all along. Flood radio stations to keep people who oppose the Messiah from speaking (marching orders that come DIRECTLY from the campaign), put out propaganda disguised as an anti smear website to clear up lies, enlist law enforcement to crack down on the right of the people to say what they want, when they want…

UPDATE: Governor Blunt responds to the Obama Nazis.

JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.

“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.

“What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.

“This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.

“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts – not a free society.”

ONE LESS VOTE FOR OBAMA

JACK MURTHA SUED BY MARINE

One of America’s finest has filed a lawsuit against one of America’s worst. Corrupt politician and unindicted ABSCAM co-conspirator Jack Murtha of Pennsylvania is being sued by one of the Marines he wrongly accused of crimes in Iraq. Justin Sharratt was acquitted of all charges and left the Marines with an Honorable Discharge but the attention over Murtha’s statements prejudiced his chances for fair legal proceedings and caused him irreparable harm. I hope he wins and bankrupts Murtha. Jack Murtha is up for reelection. Will you people in his district please vote to get rid of this slimy, corrupt, worm? Here is who should replace him; William Russell, a retired Army officer and Conservative Republican. Get rid of Murtha…

MORE GOVERNMENT SHORTSIGHTEDNESS

The government has not allowed any refineries to be built for decades. There are only 149 refineries in the US (and many are located in the Gulf coast region) and they work at full capacity just to keep up with current demand so every time there is a major storm in the Gulf that shuts down the refineries, gas prices go up, and we face shortages. This is the case with Hurricane Ike which swept through Texas. Refineries were affected and there are gas shortages all throughout the south. If we had more refineries dispersed throughout the nation we could ensure our flow of gas is uninterrupted. The environmentalists and the Liberals refuse to allow more refineries.

ANOTHER STANDOFF WITH RUSSIAN PROXIES?

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez was to meet Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev on Friday after Russia risked Washington’s wrath by offering the fierce US foe help developing nuclear energy.

Just what we need, the Russians helping a maniac develop nuclear energy. We do not want the Russians sneaking stuff into Venezuela because there is no doubt that they will be bringing in a lot more than building materials. If we are not careful we will wake up one day and Chavez will be pointing missiles in our direction. If we are not very careful those missiles will have nuclear warheads on them. Chavez is playing a dangerous game. He has plenty of oil so he does not need nuclear power and this is nothing more than the Russians trying to get in our grill. Maybe we should send a hit squad down to take care of this jackass.

“Keep in mind the lower 40% of wage earners pay absolutely no taxes at all.”

Where do you get that stat? I’ve been trying to track it down…

  2. Big Dog says:

From the report linked to here. It also points it out in the article.

Also, the bottom 50% of wage earners pay under 3% of all taxes. This is why I keep asking how you can give rebates to people who pay no taxes. What are you rebating (and don’t they get a rebate by way of tax credits to give them back more than they paid in)? Everyone cries about tax cuts for the rich. 50% of wage earners pay no taxes so how will you cut theirs?

Obama practiced his speech well as it was the best I have heard him talk; however, my vote will be for righteousness, nuclear protection, and no raise in taxes with McCain. It is time this country was turned back to God where we can be blessed. I am tired of party fighting party for power and not caring about the people.

As for the buyout, why are the head honchos not being made to pay. If it was one of us, we would be in prison. If we just buy them out without any punishment, they will just line their pockets again. I’m sorry this was not spoken about more in the debate.

  4. Adam says:

That page contains a bad link to the report. Got another source?

Don’t liberals talk about tax cuts for the middle class mostly? Our tax scale is already progressive either way. I think about my parents and even my wife before I married her and they made way under the 40% mark and still paid taxes. Of course now that she’s married to me she’s stuck in a higher tax bracket due to my evil librual edjumakatium…

  5. Big Dog says:

I am sure the report is available at the government site but I don’t feel like looking all around it.

The reality is, the Bush tax cuts helped everyone and the middle class got more back as a percentage of income than the wealthy but it is always portrayed as a tax cut for the rich. People on the lower end get back more than they pay in because of tax credits.

The tax code should be a flat tax where everyone pays the same percentage of income. The lower quintiles use more in government services than they pay in and the wealthy use less but everyone derives the same benefit from government.

Did they make under the 40% mark or were they in the lowest 2 quintiles? Regardless, the amount paid was proportionately smaller than those who make more which is an unfair tax scheme. Now they want to tax even more.

Remember, Clinton promised tax cuts and then when he took office said things were messed up and he could not do it. With the current fiasco of 700 billion in welfare things will be worse than when he took office.

Cut spending, remove unconstitutional expenditures and reduce taxes and there will be more money to do the essential things government is supposed to provide.

  6. Adam says:

I have some serious concerns about a flat tax but I do agree that the tax code is very complicated. At tax time this year I paid state taxes for CA, AR, DE, federal 2007, quarterly fed 2008, quarterly DE 2008. What a bloody hassle. You’d think though that with them wanting our money so much they’d make it more simple to figure out that value…but then again they probably like it more when we screw up and pay extra for not paying correctly to start with…

The tax scale is progressive and I think that’s a good thing. I don’t mind paying more in taxes by percent than other Americans. I support a lot of social programs and this is my way of putting my money where my mouth is…so to speak…

  7. Big Dog says:

Well, good for you. I do mind paying more and I mind how it is used. I don’t like a progressive tax system. I pay more in taxes but have exactly the same say in government as those who pay little or none. You should receive 1 vote for being a citizen and then one additional vote for each $5,000 you pay in taxes. That would even things up. If you think a progressive tax is good then a progressive voting system should be good as well.

I do not believe in social programs because most are unconstitutional but then again most libs excuse lawbreaking if the end result is good. Witness their affinity for illegal aliens…

Who Really Pays Federal Income Taxes?
In April of this year, Congress’ Joint Economic Committee (JEC) released a report (requires Adobe Reader) showing that those in the top quintile , i.e., those who earned 46% of all income earned, paid 83% of federal income taxes. On the other hand, households in the two lowest quintiles (i.e., 40% of all households) paid no incomes taxes. Because of refundable tax credits such as the EITC and the child credit, those in the lowest quintile received refunds larger than their tax liabilities. These numbers use 2001 IRS tax data.

In their analysis of the same IRS data, the National Taxpayers Union provides additional detail on who is in the various quintiles. For example, households with the top 1% of Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) had incomes above $292,913, and paid 33.89% of Federal income taxes. Householdsl with the top 25% of AGI, i.e., those with AGI’s above $56,085, paid almost 83% of Federal income taxes.

The JEC emphasized that such a highly progressive system “means that federal revlenues devoted to general government operations are particular sensitive to changes in the income of the top earners.” Also, see my June 30 entry where I describe the Tax Foundation’s more detailed picture of the 40% of non-filers.
