What Happens When The Money Goes Away?

School systems are in for a rude awakening as stimulus funds, money they used to meet budget shortfalls, dry up. School systems that were not fiscally responsible and who relied on stimulus funds will be in bad shape once those funds are no longer available.

If those funds came with strings requiring states to keep that level of funding then the budget issue will be that much worse. Strings were attached to many items as a condition for getting stimulus money so there is no reason to believe that this is not the case.

School districts have already suffered big budget cuts since the recession began two years ago, but experts say the cash crunch will get a lot worse as states run out of stimulus dollars. My Way News

School systems are not the only ones. Any program that took the money and used it to fill a budget gap will be hit hard when the funds are gone. Sadly, this is not what stimulus money was intended for as we were told it would be used to create jobs. None of this creates jobs and might lead to job losses once the funds are gone.

The government uses money like a drug pusher uses heroin. They give it to states and then once the states are hooked they will do anything to keep that money. Then, the feds can threaten to cut off funds in order to extort states into doing what they [the feds] desire. Want a lower speed limit or lower blood alcohol level for DWI then threaten to withhold highway funds. It is a drug that keeps the states in line, following the orders from Washington.

It is time for states to go into rehab and break the addiction to federal government. It is also time we kept our money in our states and had limited taxes (preferably NOT on income) to run a limited government.

How Many Jobs Have Been Saved Or Created?

It all depends on who you ask:

Axelrod, on CNN’s State of the Union: “But understand that, in this recession that began at the beginning of 2007, we’ve lost 7 million jobs. Now, the Recovery Act the president passed has created more than — or saved more than 2 million jobs. But against 7 million, you know, that — that is — it is cold comfort to those who still are looking.”

Jarrett, on NBC’s Meet the Press: “The Recovery Act saved thousands and thousands of jobs. There are schoolteachers and firemen and— and— teachers all across our country, policemen, who have jobs today because of that recovery act. We’re investing in infrastructure. We’re investing in public education so that our kids can compete going forth into the next— generation.”

Gibbs, on “Fox News Sunday”: “Well, Chris, let’s take for instance the example you just used of the stimulus package. We had four quarters of economic regression in terms of growth, right? Just last quarter, we finally saw the first positive economic job growth in more than a year. Largely as a result of the recovery plan that’s put money back into our economy, that saved or created 1.5 million jobs.” Politico

It would seem that Obama’s people don’t actually know how many jobs have been created and the idea that saved jobs can be measured is bogus. The administration dreamed up this category to tout success that can’t possibly be measured. The guidelines used to indicate a “saved” job are nonsensical and were dreamed up to give the appearance of success.

Jobs are counted as saved if stimulus money went to them even if they were not in danger of being lost. The formula originally used allowed for more jobs saved than actually existed in the companies. If any stimulus money is spent on a job (like giving a pay raise) then it is considered saved. It is a sham.

Now the administration spin masters are out talking up the numbers in an effort to show some kind of success even though the stimulus has been a dismal failure.

I would think that if they were all going to go on different networks to discuss this they could all coordinate their lies.

Hockey Stick Graph Liar Gets Stimulus Money

Penn State Professor Michael Mann, the guy who hid and manipulated data to get a hockey stick graph showing an abrupt increase in global temperature has received $541,184 from the stimulus funds for global warming work. This alarmist is one of the key players in the global warming fraud that was exposed when emails and other files were hacked into and released to the public.

This is on top of the $1.9 million of stimulus money that Penn State received to investigate the impact of global warming.

Money is what the global warming issue is all about. All people need to do is follow the money and it is easy to see that these folks are motivated by the dollar, not science.

If the government gives out billions of dollars to discover if unicorns existed then a lot of scientists will start finding evidence that they could have and would keep milking the system for more money. If they said that unicorns did not exist they would have to look for a new cash cow.

The entire global warming alarmist movement is based on manipulated data as clearly shown in the email exchanges and a review of the files. Scientists excluded data, manipulated data and manipulated methodology in order to get a result that they wanted. They had a result in mind and manipulated data to fit it.

Now we are sending them stimulus money.

Even if the global warming alarmists were correct this is not where stimulus money should be spent.

This is what happens when government doles out our money. It is used to pay for favors or to pay off supporters.

A 10% unemployment rate is a problem and it is not getting better. Obama has changed the way he lies about job creation so that he can claim things that are not true but that fit his new definition.

He did this after being caught lying about job numbers a few times. He just changed how they count so the lie will be obtained using his approved methods. He made formal how they have been lying all along.

Change you can deceive in.

Vast Right Wing Says Stimulus A Bust

OK, it was really the Associated Press which is so far left it is holding up the walls on that side. The AP has found, by comparing 700 counties that received stimulus money to 700 that did not, that the stimulus had no effect on the unemployment rate.

In other words, the stimulus did not work. Say it again children, the stimulus did not work.

A federal spending surge of more than $20 billion for roads and bridges in President Barack Obama’s first stimulus has had no effect on local unemployment rates, raising questions about his argument for billions more to address an “urgent need to accelerate job growth.”

An Associated Press analysis of stimulus spending found that it didn’t matter if a lot of money was spent on highways or none at all: Local unemployment rates rose and fell regardless. And the stimulus spending only barely helped the beleaguered construction industry, the analysis showed.

With the nation’s unemployment rate at 10 percent and expected to rise, Obama wants a second stimulus bill from Congress including billions of additional dollars for roads and bridges — projects the president says are “at the heart of our effort to accelerate job growth.” AP

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood defended the stimulus plan and the government is considering another but the AP reports:

But AP’s analysis, which was reviewed by independent economists at five universities, showed the strategy of pumping transportation money into counties hasn’t affected local unemployment rates so far.

“There seems to me to be very little evidence that it’s making a difference,” said Todd Steen, an economics professor at Hope College in Michigan who reviewed the AP analysis.

And there’s concern about relying on transportation spending a second time.

“My bottom line is, I’d be skeptical about putting too much more money into a second stimulus until we’ve seen broader effects from the first stimulus,” said Aaron Jackson, a Bentley University economist who also reviewed AP’s analysis.

The stimulus had no effect on employment.

Of course, not all of the money was spent. It is being held in reserve so the government can release it before the next election in hope of changing things prior to the November elections. But if spending the billions now had no effect, will spending more later do any good?

Democrats have run the economy into the ground with the stimulus with promises that it would curb unemployment (it is higher than they said it would be) but the whole thing has been a bust.

But at least they were able to use money borrowed from China (that will be repaid by taxpayers) to pay supporters for political favors.

Here Is How Stimulus Money Was Wasted

The nearly trillion dollar stimulus that had to be passed immediately but that very little of has been spent (as a percentage) is being wasted and has done little in the way of providing jobs. Obama told us we needed to pass it NOW or unemployment would go above 8.5% and now it is nearly 10%. The purpose of the stimulus was to pay off special interest groups for supporting Democrats. Here are a few items that stimulus money was spent on. Please feel free to chime in and tell me how they stimulated the economy:

– $300,000 for a GPS-equipped helicopter to hunt for radioactive rabbit droppings at the Hanford nuclear reservation in Washington state.

– $30 million for a spring training baseball complex for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies.

– $11 million for Microsoft to build a bridge connecting its two headquarter campuses in Redmond, Wash., which are separated by a highway.

– $430,000 to repair a bridge in Iowa County, Wis., that carries 10 or fewer cars per day.

– $800,000 for the John Murtha Airport in Johnstown, Pa., serving about 20 passengers per day, to build a backup runway.

– $219,000 for Syracuse University to study the sex lives of freshmen women.

– $2.3 million for the U.S. Forest Service to rear large numbers of arthropods, including the Asian longhorned beetle, the nun moth and the woolly adelgid. Washington Examiner

Money for a helicopter to look for rabbit turds, money to study the sex lives of college women (I know a bunch of guys who would do that for free), money for the Murtha airport (a money pit), money to build a bridge between two Microsoft buildings and money to build a stadium for baseball teams.

What does any of this have to do with stimulus? In addition, why are we taxpayers building anything for Microsoft? Bill Gates is one of the wealthiest people in the country. He gives away more money than anyone can imagine and we have to pay for a bridge for his buildings? Why are we paying for a baseball stadium? Can’t the wealthy team owners or the taxpayers of the state pay for it? Most of us will never go there to watch a ball game and we damn sure will not get any revenue the teams generate so why are we paying for their stadium?

Why are we using stimulus money to mess with arthropods?

This is the kind of waste and abuse that one expects and knows will happen when government is involved. This is the kind of waste we see in Medicare and it is the kind of waste we will see in the government takeover of health care.

We still have quite a bit of unspent stimulus money and we should put a halt to further spending.

None of these items can be defended. None of them created any jobs (not lasting ones) and none of this spending is what America had in mind.

The Democrats always talk about Republicans taking care of the rich. I fail to see how the Democrats are any different when they spend OUR money to build something for Bill Gates or baseball teams.

Vote all of them out of office in 2010.

This kind of spending is irresponsible and should not be tolerated.
