A Fallen Hero And Some Disrespectful Behavior

I had the solemn honor of being on an aircraft today that was carrying one of our fallen heroes. His escorts were on board our plane. When we landed in Atlanta we were asked to remain seated until the escorts left the plane.

Everyone on board remained seated and quiet as those men gathered their belongings and left to do one of the hardest jobs a service member has to do. It is an honor to be on a funeral detail but one we hope never to have. We would rather do that for an aged veteran who lived a long life.

I was proud that everyone remained seated and allowed those heroes to leave unmolested by the surge of people that happens when a plane empties.

I went inside and was able to look out of the window where I saw two people holding a flag or guidon but my view was obstructed so I could not make it out. I also saw the American flag and workers standing with their hands over their hearts.

A special carrier pained in red, white, and blue was in place with the words “Some Gave All” inscribed on the back. As the flag draped casket was coming down the conveyor I stood at attention with my hand over my heart. Soldiers (the fallen hero was Air Force) from an Army unit were there and stood and saluted. Many people around us saw what was going on and when they realized what was taking place, they stood. Men removed their hats and all of us who stood waited until the hero was placed in the special carrier.

I was very unhappy with a number of people who knew what was going on but chose to read their papers and play with their electronic gadgets. They looked at all of us, looked outside to see why we were doing what we were and carried on as if nothing was taking place.

No matter how one feels about war or the military the fact remains that our fallen heroes deserve our respect.

Reading the paper or playing with an electronic gadget is not a sign of respect.

You people, and you know who you are, should be ashamed.

And for those of you who showed respect, I will take the liberty to thank you on behalf of the family and friends of that fallen hero.

I took two pictures of the carrier and I think I got the Flag draped casket in one of them. I will not post that out of respect for the fallen and his family.

Cave Canem!

McChrystal Learns His Fate Today

Though the outcome is in little doubt…

General Stanley McChrystal, the man Barack Obama hand picked to lead the war effort in Afghanistan, is on his way to the White House. He was summoned there by a very angry Barack Obama who was blindsided by a Rolling Stone article given to him late Monday evening by Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.

In the article, McChrystal and unnamed aides are quoted saying disparaging things about Obama, Biden and host of regime characters who are involved in the Afghanistan conflict.

McChrystal evidently allowed a Rolling Stone reporter to shadow him and his staff for about a month. The result was a story with quotes that are less than flattering.

What was the General thinking?

The reporter’s ideologies are left wing so it was unlikely that he would overlook anything that might be disparaging to Obama and his regime. Regardless, no reporter should have been allowed in because that is asking for trouble. Some of the things quoted could have context that is less disparaging and been made in a joking manner but that would not be accurately portrayed in any article. The things said are best left behind closed doors and kept among those who serve, joking or not.

McChrystal is a professional soldier and he should have known better. He and his people were wrong for publicly saying what they did and unfortunately this will end up costing the General his job. The rumor mill already indicates that he has tendered his resignation and though Obama does not have to accept it, the writing is on the wall.

Perhaps Obama called him back to DC to discuss this face to face but I think the fact that he was called back is a pretty good indication that he is not returning. If McChrystal is prudent, he brought all his gear back with him.

I can’t excuse what took place and what was said because it was said publicly and the entire incident undermines the command structure and the confidence in our military and civilian leaders. It was unprofessional and it commands a severe response. It pains me to say that because McChrystal is a smart guy who is needed in the war effort but he stepped on it big time.

There is an outside chance that Barack Obama will censure McChrystal, not accept his resignation and send him back to Afghanistan but I see this as very unlikely. That same rumor mill indicates that possible replacements are already being discussed.

Military people have all kinds of things to say about various leaders among themselves and that is where their comments should stay. In public the professionals in our military need to support the chain of command and ensure that the orders of their leaders, military and civilian alike, are carried out and that they project the appearance that they support those in charge of them. If they cannot support their leaders then they should resign (if they are officers) or not reenlist when their time is up (for enlisted).

McChrystal and his staff failed the test when they decided to make disparaging comments to a reporter.

General McChrystal has not denied anything reported in the article and I can’t find anything that was said that is untrue. The problem is he and his staff made the information public.

Not a smart move and one that will likely cost him his career.

I would like to give McChrystal and his staff the benefit of the doubt and see what he has to say about the article when he meets with Obama. I am sure he has been silent about the issue because he was ordered to keep his mouth shut but I doubt anything he can say now will change the course of events that will take place later today.

The Dirty Deed Is Done

Well, Barack Hussein Obama (is it OK to use Hussein now that he did) was sworn in as the nation’s 44th president after a bit of a false start and jumbled words by both Obama and Chief Justice Roberts. They got their timing and words correct (or close enough for government work) and finished. Not the big deal writers from both sides portrayed it as. The right said Obama blew it and the left said Roberts blew it. I think both men has a miscue because of nerves. Obama started while Roberts was still going and then Roberts said the words out of order. It all worked out and Obama was sworn in.

The speech was the same stuff you expect. Enough of the “what we all have to do” mixed with the ideological claptrap about government fixing things. There were two things that demonstrated to me why liberals are evil, nasty, asses who deserve to have the snot slapped out of them.

The first was this Reverend Lowery. He stood up there and was supposed to deliver a prayer. It turned out to be a sermon on the long road and all that crap. He ended it with a racist slap that insulted white people and should have every white boiling. He offended a lot of people:

‘Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around… when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen. Say Amen’… Google News

Is this guy living 200 years ago? What the hell is the matter with him. He makes it sound as if people of color don’t have a chance in this country despite the fact that he just watched a black man become president. Then, he tells us how we work for the day when whites will embrace what is right. This sawed off half witted dumb ass has white people to thank for Barack Obama being president. Obama could not have won without a significant numer of whites voting for him. Now I might concede that that was not the right thing to do but Lowery and the rest think it was so what the hell does he mean?

This country was founded by whites and whites freed slaves and if Lowery was looking to be accurate he would have said “when Democrats embrace what is right.” They are the ones who have done the most harm to people of color. I might also point out that everyone in this country has an equal chance and people of color have a more equal chance because of affirmative action. There are good and bad people of all colors and for this low life to throw such an obviously racist remark out there is beyond the pale.

The homos were all worried about Warren? Get real, he did not say anything that insulted anyone (I did not hear him but if he had it would be all over the news). Everyone was so concerned and wondered why the sainted one invited Warren when they should have been worried about Lowery.

It would appear as if Jeremiah Wright is not the only racist pastor that Obama knows. Well screw Lowery and screw anyone who believes that crap and screw those who feel there was nothing wrong with it or fail to condemn it. The past injustices of slavery and discrimination are no excuse for what he said.

The second thing that was offensive was the way the moonbats treated President Bush. This was his last day in office and they could not let him transfer power and leave. They were singing nah nah nah nah, hey hey hey goodbye. They were being nasty to him and treating him terribly in front of his family and in front of the world. I was hoping that the moonbats would have enough decency to behave and show some civility on his last day. I know that I expected too much. I have seen how these morons acted for the past 8 years and today was nothing different. I imagine there would have been a riot if Bush supporters had heckled Obama. Maybe we need a few good old fashioned riots to alleviate some tension.

Well, to hell with them. They talk of working together and making nice. SCREW them. It is time they get a bit of their own medicine. Turn about is fair play and I am in no mood to be nice.

What we need is open season on liberals with no bag limit.

Maybe the moonbats were just upset because the world’s problems did not miraculously disappear once Obama swore in.

Or perhaps they were all wondering if Michelle Obama had broken into their homes and stolen their drapes to wear as a dress.

In any event, they can get in line, behind all the other people in line, to kiss my…

Liberals Unhinged; Increase Vile Attacks

It has been brewing since Sarah Palin was announced as John McCain’s running mate. What has been brewing is the vile hatred that all liberals harbor for people who are not like them. They treat everyone who does not fall into their line of thinking like second class citizens and this includes people in their own party. Couple their natural nastiness with their desire to right their history of wronging blacks and you come up with some pretty nasty things.

A college professor assigned his students the task of writing something negative about Sarah Palin.

Sandra Bernhard, who some call a comedian, lit into Saracuda in one of her routines saying that Sarah Palin [should] not to come into Manhattan lest she get gang-raped by some of Sandra’s big black brothers.

Now that is true class. I get nasty humor and I can tolerate some of the comedians who use lots of vulgar words and refer to the objects of their attacks in mean spirited ways but something about gang rape jokes just sets wrong with me. Not only does it portray a stereotype of blacks in the hood as how they were seen in the old south but it refers to a violent crime against women. Bernhard is this really ugly woman who looks like she has been at the end of a crack pipe and heroin needle for way too long and her mouth spews nothing but vulgarity. If people want to pay to see that it is their business but I think the gang rape comments are way over the line. Maybe the next time she says it a stage light will fall and crush her. Now that would be comical.

Next up we have Charlie Rangel, tax evading Congressman from New York. When asked why Democrats were afraid of Palin and her popularity he answered that you have to be kind to the disabled.

A United States Congressman called a candidate for the Vice Presidency disabled. Now politics is not for the feint of heart but one would think that Rangel would not make that kind of comment considering Palin has a child with Trisomy 21. It is also astonishing that a member of the party that bills itself as all inclusive would insult the millions of people who are disabled. Rangel’s comments insulted the blind, the deaf, the mentally ill, the mentally retarded, people with countless other maladies and he disrespected and insulted the members of America’s military who are disabled as a result of their service to this country. Since liberalism is a mental disorder, he also insulted a lot of people who vote for his party.

Charlie Rangel should be spending his time trying to figure out how he is going to avoid jail time for evading taxes.

I am willing to bet that Sarah Palin has not used her elected office to get rich and buy investment properties. I am willing to bet that Palin has paid her taxes in full and on time. I am also willing to bet that Palin does not have a taxpayer funded pimp mobile to ride around Harlem (the place Bernhard’s rapist friends reside) and while Rangel was gaming the system and screwing people out of their hard earned money Palin was selling off taxpayer funded luxuries in order to save them money.

Rangel might think Plain is disabled but the Congressman from Harlem is just stupid. If the morons who keep supporting him put him back in office then he can deal with Vice President Palin starting next year.

Liberals are pro choice. Bernhard’s and Rangel’s mothers obviously made the wrong one.

Liberals are unhinged at the selection of Sarah Palin. They are showing their true colors and their hatred for people who do not think like they do. They are hypocrites who are anything but the inclusive and diverse group they claim to be.

Obama Disrespects the Troops

The right has been waiting for Barack Obama to screw up during his whirlwind campaign tour overseas and his campaign has been holding its breath hoping that he makes it through without a major gaffe. He has made a few but they have been largely ignored by the media. However, it looks like a gaffe that cannot be ignored came when Obama announced that he was changing his plans and would not be visiting wounded soldiers in Germany. There is one thing a person who wants to be president should never do and that is dis the troops. Soldiers expect their leaders to keep their word so this does not sit well for the guy who wants to lead them. This is the lame excuse for the dis:

During his trip as part of the CODEL to Afghanistan and Iraq, Senator Obama visited the combat support hospital in the Green Zone in Baghdad and had a number of other visits with the troops. For the second part of his trip, the senator wanted to visit the men and women at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center to express his gratitude for their service and sacrifice. The senator decided out of respect for these servicemen and women that it would be inappropriate to make a stop to visit troops at a U.S. military facility as part of a trip funded by the campaign. Weekly Standard Blog

First of all, it is never a bad thing to visit the troops regardless of who is paying for the trip. Second of all, was only this part of the trip paid for by the campaign? If not then how does he explain visiting troops in the war zone and at the Combat Support Hospital? Also, if Obama is campaigning in America and decides he wants to visit with the troops at Walter Reed, will he not go because his campaign is footing the bill? This is an extremely poor excuse for not visiting the troops because he can go there and visit without campaigning.

Now don’t get me wrong, the troops are probably relieved they do not have to tolerate this snob who has no idea what military service is. However, it is an honor to meet a member of Congress and if he says he is going to visit, he should. Personally, if I were a patient I would tell the staff that he is, under no circumstances, to be allowed in my room. I would let them know if he visited me it would be embarrassing for him and the hospital. I imagine most of the troops felt he was just using them as a campaign prop anyway (even if he did not actively campaign) and are happy he is not coming but one thing they hate is when people break their word. Obama does a lot of that (like lying about what committee he is on and how he voted).

Earlier this year Obama said that he needed to gain the trust of the troops. Breaking his word is not a real good way to do that. At the time he probably felt he needed their votes but since his Democratic buddies in Congress have worked to keep the military vote from counting, Obama probably does not feel he needs to be bothered with them again. Perhaps it is because the troops watch Fox News. There is no chance in hell that Obama will get the military vote. If he gets 10% he will be lucky.

A possible explanation:

NRO reports that Obama changed plans at the last minute when a campaign staffer was informed he would be denied access. Congressional staffers may accompany but there are rules about campaign visits and what rules they must follow. Obama lacked the guts to leave the staffer behind and go visit the troops. Is this the kind of leadership he wants to show the troops? This also begs the question, did this staffer (or any others) accompany him to his visits with the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq?

My suggestion to my military comrades out there, if offered the opportunity to meet with the guy, just decline. Better yet, say you will and then cancel at the last minute. If they force you to visit with him, bring a basketball. He likes when soldiers hand him one and the media instantly drools when he makes a shot outside the paint. That should provide lots of entertainment.

Barack Obama is not fit to lead the fine men and women who serve in our armed forces. Let’s see to it that he never gets the chance.

UPDATE 1:
Blackfive has a post about how Obama actually treated the troops. It is very enlightening.

UPDATE 2:
The Obama sent out an email soliciting donations. The email was about his speech in Berlin, you know, the one that was not a political speech. Anyone with brains knew what that speech was (why would his campaign pay for that part of the trip if it were not for the political campaign) and they are trying to make money off it. Jake Tapper has the story including the Obama camp’s attempt to say that this was not a solicitation for money (despite the big DONATE button that leads to a donation page).
