I Thought it was About the Clintons

I saw a headline at Drudge that read; “Man struck in head with bat during argument over politics” and I naturally assumed it was about Bill and Hillary Clinton. Her temper is well known and she has thrown ashtrays and other items at Bill while they infested the White House so I figured she must have been ticked about how she is getting her butt kicked and decided to take it out on slick Willy.

Unfortunately, the story is about two friends (that leaves the Clintons out) who got in an argument during the Clinton/Obama debate when one whacked the other in the head with a bat. After he whacked his buddy, the guy took him to the hospital so his pal could get fixed up. After he told the police what happened he was arrested. The victim is in Intensive Care.

If the elections in Texas and Ohio today go badly for Hillary we might just be reading a story about Bill getting beat half to death with something…

I’d be throwing stuff at Mark Penn, not Bill. Her campaign was run into the rocks by a failure to keep all members of the team including Bill Clinton on the same page. They are working very well in this last week but too little too late it looks like.

If she was going to throw stuff at Bill it should have been after South Carolina.

Agreed, she ran a poor campaign and I think it is because she believed that she was the heir apparent.

  3. Adam says:

I don’t buy the heir apparent idea. The Clinton’s haven’t gotten where they are in the political world by assuming an easy road. They’ve had to fight every step of the way. The idea that Hillary assumed the seat was hers doesn’t mesh with the history of how they’ve handled politics.

A front runner is just a media creation. Anybody following politics knows it’s meaningless. The Clinton’s assembled a powerful early campaign geared to crush, out raising with cash and dominating the public discourse about the campaign with a concise unified message. I don’t think it started in Iowa. Some people inside the campaign expected to lose Iowa. That wasn’t a surprise. I don’t think it was that they were unprepared to fight past Feb 5th. None of that was a problem.

The whole problem started in South Carolina when Obama was starting to look strong and the Clinton’s unified message started to crumble. They couldn’t keep Bill Clinton in control (what’s new, you might say), and they couldn’t spin hard enough after Feb 5th to keep the wheels on.

If Hillary can win strong tonight and stay strong, finish up by winning Penn and come close in North Carolina, then she might be able to close the gap enough to have a legitimate fight with Superdelegates. But we’ve already seen many people saying she should drop out (Funny how it’s mainly Obama supporters). I hope she doesn’t. I want her to take the fight to the convention.

She is not going to drop out but it will take 70 percent in every fight for her to go ahead and she will not do that. The SDs might play a real big part. Obviously I want her to win all the contests today because the longer this drags on the worse it is for the party. Their nightmare is a brokered convention. I want another Democratic riot.

You might not buy into it but many insiders have said as much and so have the pundits. Hillary expected an easy ride. Obama was an unknown and the media does not answer the polls that had her up by a lot.

I believe that her coronation was part of the grand Clinton scheme and she expected to win on Feb 5th and that is why she had little money. If that is not the reason she is irresponsible with money and should not be in charge of this country.

  5. Adam says:

I also don’t buy that it’s bad for the party. Turnout, donations, and overall buzz for the Democrats has never been higher. Yet John McCain sets there in the spotlight as a target of every attack now, while the media likes to talk about the Democratic race.

I’m not sure this level of support can be sustained once there is a single candidate though. I don’t want a riot of course, but I think the candidates should have to fight hard for this thing.

Exit polls in Ohio seem to point to about a 5% victory for Hillary in Ohio. Not as big of a win as she wanted or needs, but I think she’ll take what she can get.

Right now Texas is looking rough but with their weird way of doing things, who knows?

  8. Big Dog says:

As for McCain, he has been the target of every attack since it became a 2 man race. It is bad for the Dems because no one will win outright and it will go to the convention. No matter who wins, some group will get its feelings hurt.

  9. Adam says:

Maybe you’re right about the feelings hurt thing. Only time will tell I guess. Looks like Hillary could win about 20% more in Ohio. I think dropping out is the last thing on her mind at this point. She’s won Rhode Island and Ohio and she could win the Texas primary. The caucus could get rough, but I think she’s made her point. Obama may be the “front runner” but he’s not unbeatable yet…
