What Does Newsweek Know That We Don’t?

Obama Not Prez

Newsweek is one of the lamestream media mouthpieces for Barack Obama and the Democrats. Given that this periodical is a firm supporter of the liberal/progressive destruction of America it is quite surprising to see this cover. Look at what it has printed on it:

The Making of a
Terrorist Coddling
Warmongering
Wall Street Loving
Socialistic
Godless
Muslim
President

*Who isn’t actually any of those things

If Obama isn’t actually any of these things then it means Newsweek is saying he is not the President. What does Newsweek know that we don’t?

This is quite a dilemma for the magazine. Newsweek cannot back off this and say it was mistaken about the president part or it admits that a mistake appears on the lost and if one mistake appears then there could be more than one. Newsweek cannot fix this problem without admitting that it could be in error on any item on the list and if it lets the list stand then it is admitting that Obama is not president, at least in the eyes of the people who made the cover.

Funny how things like this work out. In its eagerness to defend Obama the magazine actually insulted him. This is what happens when liberal/progressives live their lives of lies.

In the same spirit of living a lie, Obama was asked why so many people think he is a Muslim. He answered by saying he can’t go around with his birth certificate attached to his forehead. What does his birth certificate have to do with whether people believe he is a Muslim or not? Was Obama throwing the birther issue into the equation because racist and bigot no longer work or was he preoccupied with this issue?

I don’t know and I don’t care but I do know Don Surber had it right.

The birth certificate attached to his forehead would be better than the big L that is currently there…

About Those Unemployment Numbers

Don Surber takes a look at the unemployment numbers for the country. The numbers for December came out yesterday and they were 10 times higher than expected. But the numbers do not tell the entire story because of tricky accounting.

For the second month in a row, Americans were told that there was a net loss in jobs nationally, but that the unemployment rate had either fallen or remained the same.

This is bogus.

Two years ago, in December 2007, there was a net gain of only 18,000 jobs.

The unemployment rate soared from 4.7% to 5.0% in that one month.

In December 2009, there was a net loss of 85,000 jobs. And the unemployment rate remained unchanged, at 10.0%?

We have lost a net total of 96,000 in two months and the unemployment rate fell from 10.2%?

This is liberal math.

As Heidi Shierholz pointed out, the Department of labor is reducing the number of people in the work force dramatically — shrinking it by 661,000 people in just one month — down to a labor force of only 64.6% of those eligible.

Without that shrinkage, unemployment would be 10.4%, Shierholz said.

The reason that it still looks and feels bad is because it is still bad even though they keep telling us that it is getting better and the stimulus is working.

As Surber points out here:

Those numbers do not add up. Clearly the administration is removing people from the labor market statistically at a faster rate than jobs are disappearing in some sort of desperate attempt to rationalize a $787 billion stimulus dud.

The government has all kinds of accounting tricks (like global warming scientists) to hide the decline. They use methods that would land private business owners in jail and they get away with it. Keep in mind that we keep losing jobs (and that is under reported) and the rate holds steady or drops. It makes no sense unless people are being removed from the equation.

Also keep in mind this is the same government that tells you there was a surplus of money when Clinton was president even though the government had (and still has) massive debt.

Obama Pushes People To The Right

Obama enjoys amazing popularity and despite all the wrong turns he enjoys a high approval rating. He is a personable man and can be quite engaging particularly for the mind numbed people who listen to the words but don’t understand what they mean. In other words, typical Obama followers.

Though I might add that some people give him high marks even as they are beginning to worry more about him each day. The NYT released an article about his radical Columbia days and the White House press corps has begun to zap him with stinging questions while Press Secretary Gibbs is beaten to death on a daily basis. The natives are getting restless.

Yes, they are restless because Obama promised them change and everything he has done has not lived up to the promises he and VP Biden made. It now seems that they are admitting, on a weekly basis, that they were wrong about one thing or another. Obama likes to say things over and over so that they become believed but now it looks like fewer folks are relating to his philosophy even as they give him high approval ratings. My friend Don Surber reports on a recent Gallup Poll and more people are moving to the right since the election.

Gallup: 39% say they have grown more conservative since Election Day.

Another 18% say they are more liberal.

But wait. There’s more.

Among independents, 37% said they are more conservative now that President Obama is actually president, while 19% say more liberal.

Among Democrats, 34% say they are growing more conservative under President Obama, while 23% say they are more liberal.

Among other findings, 52% now say the government has too much power, versus 42% just 5 years ago.

It would appear as if people are seeing through the magic of Hope and Change and realizing the radical path Obama has set for the country and they do not like it. More than half say the government has too much power (and Obama is reaching for more with health care and cap and trade) and 34% of Democrats claim to be more conservative since Obama took office.

These are amazing numbers and if this trend continues 2010 will be a good year for Republicans, provided we can field good, conservative candidates. If this keeps up we might be able to gain some seats in the House (regaining it would be tough) and we might have a shot at the Senate. I would like to get back enough seats to keep the filibuster but I also want to see John McCain and and a few other RINOs sent packing. We need new young talent (and I am not opposed to new young Democrats so long as they come with new ideas) so that we can get rid of the establishment politicians.

Obama might be helping with that and if he keeps it up he will do for us what Jimmy Carter did. Carter gave us Reagan. If we can field a true conservative Obama will be a one term wonder and give us a great replacement.

The trends are going our way but it is still early. Looks good for Fox though. Their viewership is up 33% since the election. People are wising up and looking for fair and balanced, not moronic one sided rants by the likes of Olberman.

Reality is setting in and though Obama still has the luster and there are people who just want to give him a little longer (give him a chance) he is pushing people to the right. He is out of his league and it shows.

Or as Surber puts it:

“Last year, he was change and hope. This year, he is reality.”
