Why I like Sarah Palin

Well, Sarah Palin will, after today, no longer be Governor of Alaska. I think that is detrimental to Alaska, but the Liberals who go nuts at the very thought of her had tied her hands with the ridiculous “ethics complaints”, which were nothing more than a harassment to her and her office, making the day to day operations much more difficult, and driving her into debt. Very petty, but then that is a liberal trademark- nothing is too petty, or off- limits, as evidenced by the treatment of her son, Trig, who has Down Syndrome.

Despite her popularity, or maybe because of her minimal reaction to this popularity, she has my admiration. She was literally picked up by John McCain from virtually out of nowhere- Alaska not the typical venue when looking for running mates- and thrust into the national spotlight. Oh, I admit, (and she would also) that she was not prepared, and John McCain’s people, from almost the very beginning tried to undercut her popularity in what became an in- house bloodletting that led to McCain’s defeat.

I mean, let’s get real here- Hussein did not so much win, as McCain lost. With the Republicans in disarray as they were, divided party and all, Hussein should have walked off with at least a 46 state win, especially given all the ghost voters ACORN gave him, but no- he did eke out a win, but it was truly paltry, given all the other circumstances, and the reason was Sarah Palin.

Despite the liberal bloggers, her own inexperience, and the in- fighting in the campaign end run, she brought some excitement to the race. And there are legitimate reasons for this.

One, she was, and is, a real person. She speaks sometimes too candidly, and is not as articulate as a politician with a constant teleprompter, but she says pretty much what she thinks. This can be both good and bad.

She has managed a business, unlike Hussein, who had people who would bill other people for him- how elitist. She, on the other hand, had to manage inventory, do the taxes, and handle employees and their problems, all while trying to maintain a profit. She is blue- collar, not white- collar. She pulls in the fishing nets with the other people, and does not simply stand back and opine on how hard the work is.

She has a real family, problems and all- not Stepford children. Yes they make mistakes, but then haven’t your children? If they haven’t, you have them shackled in your basement and should be investigated.

She is a charmer, but I know that she did not get her nickname “Sarah Barracuda” because it sounded funny- but because she can be tenacious.

The fact that she resigned her job as Governor of Alaska has, to some pundits, hurt her chances to be effective in any meaningful national way, but that is untrue. If that was really the case, Hussein, Emmanuel, Sebelius, and any number of Senators, Governors, Representatives, and other political hacks would have to wear that same label of quitter, as none of them finished what they began.

In Sarah’s case it was a bit different, with frivolous complaints filed  virtually every day by some liberal nutjob or another over anything. It is said that a prosecutor can indict a ham sandwich in a Grand Jury room, and it is also true that anyone can file a complaint- it costs little to nothing, but every complaint has to be investigated and defended, leading to a backlog of necessary work, and distractions that meant that the work of Alaska was not being done in a timely fashion.

So she resigned. The decision was so common sense, that the logic escapes most people. This allows her the freedom to write a book, make appearances for money, and begin to build up her cash flow, which has been depleted by these ridiculous lawsuits. The business of Alaska can resume, in good hands. She is still very popular, and if she decides to re enter the field of politics, I have every confidence she will continue to scare the bejeebers out of liberals.

Because she is their worst nightmare- a conservative feminist.

Liberals just can not process that thought.

Good.

    She is still very popular,…”

    Let’s check your claim:

    FOX News/Opinion Dynamics Poll. July 21-22, 2009

    Favorable: 38%
    Unfavorable: 51%

    [a href=”http://www.pollingreport.com/p.htm”>pollingreport.

If this is “very popular” Blake, what would unpopular look like? LOL.

BLK: “…she is their worst nightmare- a conservative feminist.”

    DAR
Oops, that would be a contradiction. Conservatives are interested in keeping women down as they have been in the past. Feminists are interested in women being treated equal (as they haven’t been in the past). See history.

And the real “worst nightmare?” You guys NOT running Palin for anything. Such a waste of talent (err, entertainment) that would be!

Conservatives do not keep women down and they do not have a history of it. It was conservatives who have provided high level jobs to women and minorities well before the liberals. We just believe that a person should get the jobs on merit, not because of race or sex.

I think are cherry picking. She is very popular and will become even more so. But even if she is not, why does it matter. Obama is popular and has proven he cannot lead, run the country, and does not know what he is doing.

      • Darrel says:

Bigd: ‘Conservatives do not keep women down and they do not have a history of it.”>>

        DAR
They most certainly do. You couldn’t be more wrong. Conservatives cling to the past and fight against progressive change. It’s what they do. Their record of doing this couldn’t be more clear in the area of women’s rights.

Who has consistently worked against voting rights, property rights for women? Conservatives. It’s what they do. By definition. They work to conserve the old ways.

The conservatives were consistently on the wrong side of these women’s rights issues and many more:

“Women’s Educational Equity Act (1972 and 1975, educational equality),… the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (1974), the Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978, the illegalization of marital rape and the legalization of no-fault divorce in all states, a 1975 law requiring the U.S. Military Academies… [and] the United States Military, NASA, single-sex colleges, men’s clubs, etc., to admit women…”

History shows that conservatives are consistently if not always on the WRONG side of these civil/women/human rights issues. Everyone knows this is true, but if it isn’t you shouldn’t have any trouble *burying* me in examples of conservatives pushing for an advancement of these rights against liberal opposition.

You can’t point to one and the fact that I can bury you (and have) in examples going the other way, shows otherwise.

Bigd: “I think are cherry picking. She [Palin] is very popular and will become even more so.”>>

        DAR
Nope. I just went to pollingreport like I always do and referenced the latest mainstream poll (from FOX nonetheless). She has ALWAYS had very high negatives nationally and she has been trending strongly down in popularity. Reality is once again quite the opposite of your claim.

Since reality isn’t going to be adjusting itself to accommodate you (it never does), I recommend you adjust your belief to align with reality instead. That’s what I do.

        • Blake says:

OOh- “Eveyone knows this is true”…. really D, shouldn’t you know better than to use such a misleading (to say the least) chestnut in ANYTHING you say?
That’s as misleading as saying that Dems were all for civil rights- when in reality it was LBJ and a coalition of Repubs that got that passed. What party was Lester Maddux and George Wallace?
Didn’t Sen, Byrd used to be a Grand Wizard in the KKK?
          What party is he?

        • Darrel says:

BLK: “…as misleading as saying that Dems were all for civil rights-“>>

          DAR
That would be misleading. Political parties, especially the Dem’s, tend to contain a “tent” of ideas with a spectrum of views. At that time the Dem’s were full of social CONSERVATIVES. And conservatives have been very consistent in their clinging to the past and opposition to reform in the areas of civil rights as I have shown above.

I said: “Everyone knows this is true,” but I immediately followed it with the following challenge:

“…but if it isn’t [true] you shouldn’t have any trouble *burying* me in examples of conservatives pushing for an advancement of these rights against liberal opposition.”

When are you going to do that?

BLK: “Didn’t Sen, Byrd used to be a Grand Wizard in the KKK?”>>

          DAR
Actually, he was “Exalted Cyclops.” Can’t say conservatives didn’t have a sense of humor!

          As his wiki blurb states:

“A lifelong Democrat, Byrd did not leave the party as its views shifted from social conservatism to social liberalism.”

He also said; “I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times… and I don’t mind apologizing over and over again. I can’t erase what happened.”

Lester Maddox and George Wallace were, in their day, Demo’s. Today they would be, of course, Republicans. Sort of like David Duke.

          D.

        • Blake says:

Sen. Byrd did not change his views or his party- he just said whatever would get him reelected. He, like most pols is a whore to whoeveror whatever gets him elected, period.
So to hold him up as an example is not good.

    • Blake says:

Bananarama’s numbers have been tanking also. LOL.

SORRY BUT I DON’T LIKE HER.

  3. Barbara says:

Darrell, you are such a jerk and soooo blind.
Sarah Palin has a lot of wisdom and I greatly respect her. I think that in the future you are going to see a lot of her and nnot in the way you will like.

    • Darrel says:

Well the way I would like is for her to have great prominence and power in the republican party. So perhaps we agree on that, if for different reasons.

      D.

  4. greg says:

I like Sarah Palin, and I’m confident that we are going to be seeing a lot more of her in the coming weeks, months, and years. By 2012 Palin will be the change we’ll be begging for after 4 long years of 0bama attempting to bankrupt the country, and doing his continuous world apology tours.

  5. Blake says:

Darrel and other libtards have a persistent nightmare of Sarah- you cantell who they think are threats to them, by their attacks. They do not attack Huckabee, or Romney, or Jindal, or Pawlenty- no, they attack Sarah, because they fear her.
They fear the fact that she is a conservative woman who speaks her own mind, and their worst fear is that there might be others like her out there who might turn elections on their ear.
There are others, and they will affect elections.
My point, however, was that even if she chose not to pursue politics, that is well and good also, as our Founding Fathers did NOT believe in a ruling political class- they felt that ordinary citizens could do a term or two, and then go back to their real lives.
Now, we have people in politics who have never had a real job in their lives, and feel entitled to be driven everywhere, and have people hang on their every word.
At least Sarah isn’t one of THOSE people- people who deserve our disdain and quite possibly the back of our hand.

  6. Ron says:

Support continues to grow for Sarah Palin For President in 2012 from conservatives across the nation who do not trust the GOP establishment. http://www.palin4pres2012.com

    • Darrel says:

      I hope you’re right Ron.

      • Blake says:

Personally, I think she will be the money machine for the Repubs this next go- round, and draw fire from the mentally deranged left, while making money for herself and raising her children. After they are grown, watch out libbies.

      • Blake says:

I do too- I am tired of Republicans trying to be “Liberal lite”- we need to get back to what has made the conservative movement the best party for the United States.

  7. Schatzee says:

I’m curious, when was the last time there was an issue of property rights for women?

    • Blake says:

Probably when some liberal lawyer tried Sharia Law in our courts regarding an Islamic divorce- if it hasn’t happened yet, it will.

    • Darrel says:

      DAR
Seems about 1920 in the US.

      See: women’s rights.

Excerpt: “…the National Woman Suffrage Association, which campaigned for women’s suffrage at a federal level as well as for married women to be given property rights, and the American Woman Suffrage Association, which aimed to secure women’s suffrage through state legislation. In 1920 the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution gave women the right to vote.[24]”

      • Blake says:

Yep- even by Darrel’s count it has been a long time since property rights for women were an issue.

        • Darrel says:

Thanks to the liberals success in beating back conservatives.

Next up… equal rights for gays. The liberals fight for this civil right, the conservatives fight against. You will lose. Again. Watch for it.

          D.

        • Blake says:

Not true, Darrel, but after the Gays win the right to “marry”- which is funny, really- next up will be people marrying goats- all thanks to some wingnut liberal.
          Thanks D.
