Thomas, you have this silly notion that everyone deserves to be rich or make a lot of money. Everyone deserves the opportunity but there is no right involved. The rich are not skimming money from the poor. They work a lot of long, hard hours to earn what they have. Do you feel a brain surgeon has skimmed from the poor because he gets paid a great deal of money to fix people's brains or is that some right I am unaware of?

I don't know about anyone else but I have not driven up the cost of living. I pay all my bills on time and save 15-20% of my income each year.

I started out in the Army making $600 a month and somehow I survived. My combined earnings for the first 10 years was a little over 100k. But I lived within my means.

I did not admit it was nonsense. It is another approach and makes as much sense as allowing people who have no stake in the country to run it.

You know nothing about me. I happen to believe in equality.

10% for everyone is fair. I did not ask what you would rather do. I simply stated the fact that 10% for everyone is fair. I would rather pay no taxes but since that won't happen then I will take 10%.

I tend to follow my rules but you make this mistake in assuming that I have to. I own the site so I can do what I want and I can decide what others may do. There is no free speech right here.

No but the next words out of his mouth were not "Let's take all the money from the rich and give it to the poor."

We do not need an income tax to survive if we cut unnecessary and unconstitutional spending. There are plenty of taxes that will pay for the roads and such.
Since we have one then everyone should pay them. EVERYONE. Deadbeats don't pay taxes and live off others.

Gordy, you need medication. I always did pity the mentally ill. Now go play in traffic, you can find other people's money there, quick go look.

"You are raving about nonsense. Have at it. "
-- Big [redacted]

I'm glad that you admit what you are proposing is nonsense.

"The fact is, you believe that the wealthier should pay more when I believe we should all have the same stake."
-- Big Dog

somehow you don't strike me as one that gives a f**k about equality.

"The 10% of 10 grand is the same pain as the 10% of 100 grand. Everyone shares in the pain."
--Big Dog

As I have explain but your inferior mind can't seem to comprehend, no it is not the same. I would much rather pay 37% taxes on $300,000 than 10% on $10,000.

"As for your vulgar snipes, I have edited your email and the words that were offensive. If you want to debate do so but follow the commenting rules."
--Big Hypocrite

As I have pointed out before. You do not follow your own rules so f**k you Saddam lover.

"Was it not Jesus who said there will always be poor among us?"
-- Big [Redacted]

And I'm guessing the next words out of his mouth were not: "so f**k 'em".

"The argument that it is not punishment or is not wrong because we have done it for 100 years is stupid. How many years did we have slavery? Is it your contention that the practice was not unfair or punishing because we did it for a long time?"
- Big Dog{Redacted]

If that was my argument it would be stupid but as your Alzheimer's riddled mind can't comprehend, that wasn't my argument.

"We also had over 100 years where we had NO income tax. Based on your logic we should go back tot hat because we did it for so long (I think that would be great)."
--Big [Redacted]

and that shows your complete lack of logic. We've always had some sort of taxation. Income tax is just an efficient way of conducting it now. And if you want to see a society crumble then cease taxation for public projects (roads, schools, etc...).

Also, I'm glad to see that you have abandoned your asinine idea of allowing the rich more voting right.

Have a nice day and you are still a moron and a drag upon human progress.

I can't believe I have stumbled onto so many stupid people. Flat tax only works when both income and net worth are taxed annually . Greedy and self righteous people go to great lengths to hide the truth about what they skimmed from others to become wealthy. Most people would want nothing more than to just have a "J.O.B" that gave them the basic comforts of life. A home, a car, insurance, a vacation, a growing pension to retire on....and so forth. How many people earning (or worth) 250K each year, or more, are seeing to it that everyone has these basic desires? When you have anyone in your employ that doesn't have this, then you are stealing away a life from them, that is just as important as your own. Respect is; "When you recognize the discretion of another is just as valuable as your own". You say "a man should work" this is true. But should he have to work 80 hours in a week and his wife also another 40 just to barely squeak by? The greed of some has oppressed the lives of others. There is no explanation or excuse for not paying a livable wage to the head of a household while anyone else in the same company (right up to the owner or investors) lives in comfort; (let alone anything above average comfort). The working man used his discretion (at the time) to get to where he is. His life is just as important, his family, his health, his dreams, as anyone else's'. Anyone that cannot value this man as much as he values himself, and pay him (at the very least) a livable income, has no rights as a human being, let alone an American citizen. Why is the country in recession? Because the wealthy, without mercy or intelligence has skimmed and skimmed and skimmed everything they can get away with, from everyone they can get leverage over. They started with their own employees and they pass it down the line to everyone else. By the time you get to the bottom of the pyramid (that is supposed to be the foudation that supports the whole)it is thin and crumbling and rotten and weak. Your wealth was stolen from the poor, you've proven you are selfish, twisted and greedy. You've boasted about what you've done, and what you've earned, and what you deserve. You've blasted the discretion of those who only wanted to live and love and be happy with little. You've driven up the cost of living with your lavish lifestyle to the point an average man can not survive without gross sacrifice. In every belief system without fail, there is one theme that holds true and self evident. You can call it "The Golden Rule" or "Karma" or "sewing and reaping" or "what goes around comes around", call it what you like. But the children WILL eat cake, and the selfish will suffer ten fold for what they have done. Good luck.

As for your vulgar snipes, I have edited your email and the words that were offensive. If you want to debate do so but follow the commenting rules.

It is interesting you should think we are pro Hussein (the other dictator) and anti Jesus because of our beliefs regarding the poor and the tax system.

Was it not Jesus who said there will always be poor among us?

The wealthy create the jobs and pay for the country. You want fairness in voting but not in how we pay taxes. So, true to liberalism, you think it is fair as long as it benefits the victim groups.

The argument that it is not punishment or is not wrong because we have done it for 100 years is stupid. How many years did we have slavery? Is it your contention that the practice was not unfair or punishing because we did it for a long time?

We also had over 100 years where we had NO income tax. Based on your logic we should go back tot hat because we did it for so long (I think that would be great).

"It amazes me how someone would get so bent about people who make this country work (i.e., those that have and make money) having a greater say in what is happening than those living off of this country (some of whom don’t even belong here)."

--Schatzee

interesting, you equate a man's worth to society to the amount of money they make. So you must have been pissed when they hung Saddam and must be overjoyed that they murdered Christ and his hippie disciples.

And I'm sure that I don't have to tell you that alot of those people you want to hand control of the country over to have benefited from welfare in the past (or currently if you count the billions in corporate welfare).

And I shouldn't have to point out that the only way your "idea" would work is if suddenly human nature completely changed and we ignore the entirety of human history.

I will say it again. If you allow a group of already powerful people to simply buy power they will take it, refund their money, and oppress the rest of us to maintain that power and violently at that. How do you think practically every oppressive government has come to power and maintained it?

Though, you guys may like a situation like that. It seems that you have no problem getting on your knees and fellating any man with a wad of cash.

"Haven’t the “entitled” class kept growing and therefore voting in those like BO who are going to help more people depend on the government rather than support those who create jobs and wealth?"

--[redacted]

People tend to vote in their best interests. Get over it. I did for the past 8 years and 12 before that.

"I have always thought a flat percentage tax was the only fair way to go. The time and money spent on returns and audits alone would be tremendous and it would “level the playing field” so to speak so that everyone had an equal stake in the game."

--Schatzee

Yes because 10% of 10,000 for a family is just the same as for a family living off of 100,000. ever her of context moron?

my sister is in the highest tax bracket and still managed to find enough money to build a $400000 dollar house, maintain 4 vehicles, raise a granddaughter while she puts her daughter through school. And she did this all under the oppressive tax system you all hate. And guess what, she voted for Pres BHO.

But please continue to whine. Most people don't give a f**k. Especially the people that actually pay those taxes.

So to recap:

1 Giving away your voting rights is not a good idea.

2. "Punishing" the upper %1 of the population with progressive taxation isn't really that cruel. And since we've been doing it for the past 100 years and our economy has grown exponentially I don't think it is going to suddenly destroy society as we know it.

3. Big Dog and Schitzee are pro Saddam Hussein and anti Jesus.

I have always thought a flat percentage tax was the only fair way to go. The time and money spent on returns and audits alone would be tremendous and it would "level the playing field" so to speak so that everyone had an equal stake in the game.

It amazes me how someone would get so bent about people who make this country work (i.e., those that have and make money) having a greater say in what is happening than those living off of this country (some of whom don't even belong here). That's how it works in corporations - the more shares you own, the more votes you get. How is this really different? Haven't the "entitled" class kept growing and therefore voting in those like BO who are going to help more people depend on the government rather than support those who create jobs and wealth? That's okay - but turnabout is not? Ridiculous.

No Gordon, it isn't quite like that. You see, the ones who pay little or no taxes keep voting for people who will raise the taxes of the rich. It is in their best interests because they then get to sit around and live off someone else.

You worry that the ones who benefited from the extra votes would do things to their advantage but fail to see that those who pay no taxes, and therefore have no vested interest, always do things to their advantage.

I believe that if you pay more into the country you should have more say in how it is run.

Having said that, there is another alternative. Make the US tax code simple. Make a flat tax of 10%. No deductions, no dependents, no EIC, no nothing. Your boss takes 10% of what you earn each pay period and sends it in. At the end of the year you do not have to file income taxes because you paid a flat 10%.

This would have to be a law that says the rate can NEVER go higher than 10% and that it must always be the same for everyone.

If a person makes 10 grand a year he pays a grand in taxes. If a guy makes 100 grand he pays 10 grand. They both pay the same percentage of income and have the same amount invested in the country so they are then equals.

Otherwise, the people paying should get to say how things are run.
