Why Discriminate Against The Rich?

What gives the federal government the right to confiscate more money from the rich than from other people in this country and why do liberals feel they have some right to that money? Barack Obama is unveiling his budget and he is keeping his promise to raise taxes on the rich (if one can truly be considered rich making $250,000 a year). He will also cap the amount of money they can deduct from their taxes in itemized deductions. This means that the rich will pay an even larger share for this country. They already pay almost all the taxes that are taken in.

There will be unintended consequences with this. Wealthy people will reduce their itemized deductions by decreasing what they give to charity. They will invest in tax free bonds and other tax free investment vehicles so that they will be able to compensate for the money that Obama takes in order to spread the wealth.

I think that it is a sin that the government takes more and more from the wealthy. The rich have had to pay tax rates of nearly 100% over certain periods of our history and that is just plain wrong. I can’t for the life of me understand what gives the government the right to confiscate so much from those who have made something of themselves and then turn around and give it to others. The wealthy do not get as much for what they pay compared to the middle class but they have only one vote just like the people who stand in line with their hands out.

Is it any wonder the wealthy hide their money in Swiss bank accounts? I cannot blame them for doing this because the government and its organized crime ring in Congress and the White House steal that money and they keep stealing more and more.

A lot of wealthy people create jobs in America and they add a lot to society. If I were one of them and I had to get rid of employees because of this I would fire people who voted for Obama. If I had no employees I would reduce my charitable contributions to the limit I could deduct. It is just a crime and the rich need to start demanding that this country start using a fair tax system where people are not punished for being successful.

I know that Obama said that this would only affect people making over $250k but once the Bush tax cuts are allowed to expire a lot of people will be affected. After the election I reorganized my charitable contributions. Sometimes people call to ask me to donate to an organization that I know endorsed Obama. I make it clear that I will no longer donate to them for that reason. I have increased my donations to the organizations that support our troops instead.

They say that this is a free country. It is only free for the people who pay little or no taxes. It is quite expensive for those who have to support them.

It is time to get rid of this government and get a new one.

How long will it be before there is a tax revolt? How long will it be before the wealthy wake up and they all stop donating to the idiots in political office.

It is now up to the Republican party to oppose these tax increases and to ensure this FAILS. Any Republican who sides with the Democrats in raising taxes should be taken out and hanged, drawn, and quartered and their remains should be placed on the four corners of DC.

Our Founders are spinning in their graves. They devoted their lives to get rid of one tyrannical government only to have another pop up a few hundred years later.

Taxing the rich more is discrimination and it is wrong. No one is entitled to the wealth of another.

Obama wants to spread the wealth. The only thing he will end up spreading is hate and resentment.

I said it before and I will say it again. The rich should get more votes. Voting should be based on how much you pay in taxes. Every citizen gets one vote and then you get an additional one for each $10,000 you pay in taxes. If you pay more than others to keep this country running you should have more of a say in how it is run (like voting stock shares in a company). In addition, we should be able to tell people who live off government hand outs how they can live.

This tax increase will be the nail in the coffin.

And you know, I hate Obama. Yep, I hate him and I hate most liberals as well. But I am kind of glad he won because he will do more for conservatism in the next four years than any conservative could have.

You know what these people who stand around with their hands out need. It is a three letter word. J-O-B-S.**

Then they can pay their own way.

    I would be tempted to say that Obama is stupid, but he is far from it. He is very cunning and living high on the hog while we struggle. He has his cocktail parties, takes the plane to Denver to sign the stimulus bill, and his wife wears designer clothes. The Democrats have taken their wives to their conference and we are paying for it. How stupid can the American people be??? God help us when he starts on our health insurance. Our doctors will not have any say over what tests they feel we need and I’m sure that elderly ailing people will be allowed to die, but Obama and the Democrats will get whatever treatment they need.

    I knew it all along! And it’s time to do what is necessary! I came from a poor family and they never envied the rich, hence forth why my Uncle is rich my grandfather retired and well off! My father a whinning liberal and broke with six kids! I grew up to be REPUBLICAN AND I’m well off and improving my life withOUT the need to literaly ROB the well off and the Rich.
    Its called work and positive thinking of others and NO envy of the rich……….

    I do not know how this has ever passed muster in the court system. Do you know if it has ever been heard by the Supres Court. Constitutionally, it is illegal to discriminate in this country. You cannot discriminate based on race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability. Why does our Congress seem to think they can discriminate based on income?

    That is one of the stupidest f**king things I have ever heard. If, in bizarro America, were that to happen the ones who have benefited from the extra votes would install an oppressive government that would completely change the law to favor them. Then they would abolish your braindead tax code and shift the burden onto others while keeping the power.

    That is why we have equality among our citizenship. Our system is corrupt enough without flat out selling extra votes to a group of the highest bidder.

    No Gordon, it isn’t quite like that. You see, the ones who pay little or no taxes keep voting for people who will raise the taxes of the rich. It is in their best interests because they then get to sit around and live off someone else.

    You worry that the ones who benefited from the extra votes would do things to their advantage but fail to see that those who pay no taxes, and therefore have no vested interest, always do things to their advantage.

    I believe that if you pay more into the country you should have more say in how it is run.

    Having said that, there is another alternative. Make the US tax code simple. Make a flat tax of 10%. No deductions, no dependents, no EIC, no nothing. Your boss takes 10% of what you earn each pay period and sends it in. At the end of the year you do not have to file income taxes because you paid a flat 10%.

    This would have to be a law that says the rate can NEVER go higher than 10% and that it must always be the same for everyone.

    If a person makes 10 grand a year he pays a grand in taxes. If a guy makes 100 grand he pays 10 grand. They both pay the same percentage of income and have the same amount invested in the country so they are then equals.

    Otherwise, the people paying should get to say how things are run.

    It amazes me how someone would get so bent about people who make this country work (i.e., those that have and make money) having a greater say in what is happening than those living off of this country (some of whom don’t even belong here). That’s how it works in corporations – the more shares you own, the more votes you get. How is this really different? Haven’t the “entitled” class kept growing and therefore voting in those like BO who are going to help more people depend on the government rather than support those who create jobs and wealth? That’s okay – but turnabout is not? Ridiculous.

      interesting, you equate a man’s worth to society to the amount of money they make. So you must have been pissed when they hung Saddam and must be overjoyed that they murdered Christ and his hippie disciples.

      And I’m sure that I don’t have to tell you that alot of those people you want to hand control of the country over to have benefited from welfare in the past (or currently if you count the billions in corporate welfare).

      And I shouldn’t have to point out that the only way your “idea” would work is if suddenly human nature completely changed and we ignore the entirety of human history.

If you allow a group of already powerful people to simply buy power they will take it, refund their money, and oppress the rest of us to maintain that power and violently at that.       Yes because 10% of 10,000 for a family is just the same as for a family living off of 100,000. ever her of context moron?

      my sister is in the highest tax bracket and still managed to find enough money to build a $400000 dollar house, maintain 4 vehicles, raise a granddaughter while she puts her daughter through school. And she did this all under the oppressive tax system you all hate. And guess what, she voted for Pres BHO.

      But please continue to whine. Most people don’t give a f**k. Especially the people that actually pay those taxes.

      So to recap:

      1 Giving away your voting rights is not a good idea.

      2. “Punishing” the upper %1 of the population with progressive taxation isn’t really that cruel. And since we’ve been doing it for the past 100 years and our economy has grown exponentially I don’t think it is going to suddenly destroy society as we know it.

          and that shows your complete lack of logic. We’ve always had some sort of taxation. Income tax is just an efficient way of conducting it now. And if you want to see a society crumble then cease taxation for public projects (roads, schools, etc…).

            We do not need an income tax to survive if we cut unnecessary and unconstitutional spending. There are plenty of taxes that will pay for the roads and such.
            Since we have one then everyone should pay them. EVERYONE. Deadbeats don’t pay taxes and live off others.

    I can’t believe I have stumbled onto so many stupid people. Flat tax only works when both income and net worth are taxed annually . Greedy and self righteous people go to great lengths to hide the truth about what they skimmed from others to become wealthy. Most people would want nothing more than to just have a “J.O.B” that gave them the basic comforts of life. A home, a car, insurance, a vacation, a growing pension to retire on….and so forth. How many people earning (or worth) 250K each year, or more, are seeing to it that everyone has these basic desires? When you have anyone in your employ that doesn’t have this, then you are stealing away a life from them, that is just as important as your own. Respect is; “When you recognize the discretion of another is just as valuable as your own”. You say “a man should work” this is true. But should he have to work 80 hours in a week and his wife also another 40 just to barely squeak by? The greed of some has oppressed the lives of others. There is no explanation or excuse for not paying a livable wage to the head of a household while anyone else in the same company (right up to the owner or investors) lives in comfort; (let alone anything above average comfort). The working man used his discretion (at the time) to get to where he is. His life is just as important, his family, his health, his dreams, as anyone else’s’. Anyone that cannot value this man as much as he values himself, and pay him (at the very least) a livable income, has no rights as a human being, let alone an American citizen. Why is the country in recession? Because the wealthy, without mercy or intelligence has skimmed and skimmed and skimmed everything they can get away with, from everyone they can get leverage over. They started with their own employees and they pass it down the line to everyone else. By the time you get to the bottom of the pyramid (that is supposed to be the foudation that supports the whole)it is thin and crumbling and rotten and weak. Your wealth was stolen from the poor, you’ve proven you are selfish, twisted and greedy. You’ve boasted about what you’ve done, and what you’ve earned, and what you deserve. You’ve blasted the discretion of those who only wanted to live and love and be happy with little. You’ve driven up the cost of living with your lavish lifestyle to the point an average man can not survive without gross sacrifice. In every belief system without fail, there is one theme that holds true and self evident. You can call it “The Golden Rule” or “Karma” or “sewing and reaping” or “what goes around comes around”, call it what you like. But the children WILL eat cake, and the selfish will suffer ten fold for what they have done. Good luck.

      Thomas, you have this silly notion that everyone deserves to be rich or make a lot of money. Everyone deserves the opportunity but there is no right involved. The rich are not skimming money from the poor. They work a lot of long, hard hours to earn what they have. Do you feel a brain surgeon has skimmed from the poor because he gets paid a great deal of money to fix people’s brains or is that some right I am unaware of?

      I don’t know about anyone else but I have not driven up the cost of living. I pay all my bills on time and save 15-20% of my income each year.

      I started out in the Army making $600 a month and somehow I survived. My combined earnings for the first 10 years was a little over 100k. But I lived within my means.
