Whether We Like It Or Not

… we remain a dominant military superpower…

Thus said Barack Obama earlier this week. It seems a strange choice of words coming from the leader of our country but then again, this guy is not the usual leader. I actually doubt the leader part though he is leading us into ruin.

Victory

This is a guy who loathes the military and has little need for it. He does not like military power and thinks that countries can all hold hands and get along. We have seen how well this strategy has worked with Iran but he continues to pursue it.

This explains why his statement describes us a a military superpower, whether we like it or not. He does not like America having a strong military. He does not like us being stronger than other countries. He does not think we should have strength and be more powerful than others.

His entire life’s work deals with redistribution and leveling the playing field. He wants to take from those who make money and give it to those who do not and he wants our military strength to be no more than the other countries.

We all, in the world of Barack, need to be equal.

This is unfortunate and it is even more unfortunate that this country elected a person who thinks we are too strong and who apologizes for us. Maybe this is why his wife thought America was mean and why she had never been proud of it. We are too strong.

I like this country being strong. I like us being a military superpower. I believe in peace through superior firepower.

Unfortunately, we are stuck (until 2012) with this community organizing Marxist who is on a path to destroy us.

Whether we like it or not…

Somebody else did not like the statement either.

Never surrender, never submit.

Too bad Obama’s quote has been taken out of context. But why let a thing like context get in the way of the “Obama hates American exceptionalism” meme that idiots like Palin spread, right?

    • Big Dog says:

Perhaps you could show how it was taken out of context.

Funny how when he says something stupid, he was taken out of context but I will wait for you to show me the “proper” context.

      Palin an idiot? Right.

And Obama does hate America the way it is. If he didn’t he would not want to fundamentally transform it into a Socialist state.

      • Adam says:

        The quote from Palin:

Mr. President, is a strong America a problem?

Asked this week about his faltering efforts to advance the Middle East peace process, President Obama did something remarkable. In front of some 47 foreign leaders and hundreds of reporters from all over the world, President Obama said that “whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower.

Whether we like it or not? Most Americans do like it.

        The quote from Obama:

But what we can make sure of is, is that we are constantly present, constantly engaged, and setting out very clearly to both sides our belief that not only is it in the interests of each party to resolve these conflicts but it’s also in the interest of the United States. It is a vital national security interest of the United States to reduce these conflicts because whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower, and when conflicts break out, one way or another we get pulled into them. And that ends up costing us significantly in terms of both blood and treasure.

Now, you can believe that he was saying it as Palin has presented by placing a period in the wrong place so it seems to say he hates American exceptionalism, or you can take it the way he actually said it which is that whether we like it or not we get pulled into conflicts because of our position in the world. We both know which way you’ll take it though…

        • Big Dog says:

If Obama, the genius with so much education, meant it the way you say then he would have said; “We remain a dominant military superpower. Whether we like it or not, when conflicts break out we get pulled into them.”

The way he said it he is saying that we remain a superpower whether we like it or not and because we are a superpower we get pulled into conflicts.

It might seem like a nuance to you but it has been interpreted the exact way he said it.

Axlerod goes over all his speeches and he has people who are supposed to be educated in this. He is supposed to be a smart man.

The way he said it conveys his true feelings though it could give wiggle room, his true intent is obvious.

The period that Palin placed is appropriate. You can place a period where the word AND is used and then make a complete thought out of the next sentence as in:

because whether we like it or not, we remain a military superpower. When conflicts break out, one way or another we get pulled into them.

You ascribe the whether we like it or not to the wrong part of the sentence which is why you have it wrong. If he meant it the way you claim he would have said it the way I wrote it in the first part of this.

        • Adam says:

“The way he said it conveys his true feelings though it could give wiggle room, his true intent is obvious.”

Obvious to those who parse every word he says to fit an anti-Obama world view. Yes, of course Obama hates America and American power and the troops and little cute kittens and the baby Jesus. If only this magical “true intent” wasn’t missed by liberals. I guess your tinfoil hats help you pick up the signals better than we can…

  2. Big Dog says:

You guys talk about how smart he is compared to Bush and how he is such an elegant speaker. Seems that if he is so elegant then he would know what he is saying.

Parse words, seems that this is done on the left quite a bit. I seem to remember the quote from McCain about 100 years actually being taken out of context and then ridden hard by the left.

The Downing Street memo is another example.

Clean up your act before you become the critic of others.

But he said what he meant and he meant what he said.

    • Blake says:

Barrie knows EXACTLY what he is saying- to his credit (or his arrogance- take your pick), he seems not to be able to mask his words, and thus, you end up with the unfiltered arrogant, smug statements he seems wont to spew.
At least Biden’s are funny, IF racist, but Barrie’s are insulting-

    • Adam says:

“Seems that if he is so elegant then he would know what he is saying.”

What he’s saying is clear to most normal people. You just have a hard time comprehending actual English after 8 years of Bushisms. I can see how that could happen. Bush’s speeches lowered the IQ of many an American while watching, especially those who had to leap to their keyboards each time to defend the miserable failure.

“The Downing Street memo is another example.”

Yes, and I’m sure years later you still think that the DSM doesn’t actually say Bush wanted to go to war even if he had to “fix” the facts because the case against Saddam was so “thin.” Luckily we found the WMD long ago so we know there was nothing to fix and liberals were all wrong in their criticism of the lead up to the war. Oh wait…

      • Big Dog says:

You mean all the liberals who voted against the use of military force, oh wait.

The DSM is clear but you all have distorted what it meant.

The sad thing is that even though you say IQ lowered when Bush talked the IQ of any room of liberals tripled when he entered.

And yet he had better grades than Kerry, who you supported.

I wonder if he had better grades than Obama, perhaps we can compare college transcripts, oh wait…Obama has his locked up tighter than a gnat’s ass. Wonder what he is hiding?

Most normal people? You mean most liberals who are not normal. Liberalism/progressivism is a mental disorder.

Only a liberal would call Bush a miserable failure. Don’t blame you because things went pretty well until Democrats took over Congress. That is when things went bad. A fact you cannot dispute.

        • Adam says:

“The DSM is clear but you all have distorted what it meant.”

Feel free to tell us what it means then.

“And yet he had better grades than Kerry, who you supported.”

Kerry is an idiot but at least he can give a speech without sounding like a moron.

As far as Obama’s grades go let’s not joke around here lumping Kerry and Bush in with Obama. Obama graduated from Harvard Law School magna cum laude and passed the bar exam to become a lawyer. That is a pretty good benchmark for his intelligence level and work ethic.

“Don’t blame you because things went pretty well until Democrats took over Congress. That is when things went bad. A fact you cannot dispute.”

Oh, look. Yet another logical fallacy. You’re full of them lately, among other things. We know the cause of the crisis (which of course you think Obama just made up apparently to control us) goes back a long time and has absolutely nothing to do with who controlled Congress in 2007.

  3. Dennis says:

U.S.: Killing Of 2 Al Qaeda In Iraq A Huge Blow — Associated Press

….whether we like it or not.

  4. Big Dog says:

Ahh yes, another logical fallacy. Adam, you are a regular Socrates. So let’s extend this a moment. You claim the problems started when Bush took office so he is the cause of them.

On the other hand, Congress is responsible for introducing legislation, allocating money (spending it) and controls the legislative acts of the country.

The Dems came to power and things started going south. How is this not cause and effect especially considering that the Dems who allowed the financial collapse to happen were then elevated to a position of power?

But if the cause of the porblems go back a long way it is equally unfair to lay the blame on Bush which is what Obama constantly does (as do many Dems).

The problems have been brewing for many decades. The Dem control of Congress was the catalyst needed to complete the collapse.

I would like to see Obama’s educational records. I can believe only so much.

And any number of people have passed the bar, many of whom are not very smart.

    • Adam says:

“You claim the problems started when Bush took office so he is the cause of them.”

I know if I’ve ever said that and if I have then I certainly don’t believe that now. I don’t think Bush or the Republicans are blameless of course but I’m also not one to just blame the FMs or CRA or anything short sighted like that.

“The Dem control of Congress was the catalyst needed to complete the collapse.”

That is absolutely wrong and without any basis to back it up. You’ve just doubled down on your use of the fallacy is all.

“And any number of people have passed the bar, many of whom are not very smart.”

I would disagree but that is irrelevant. Dumb people do not graduate magna cum laude from Harvard, pass the bar, and practice law. Just accept it: Obama is a very intelligent man and has worked hard to get where he’s at. If he weren’t a Democrat you’d be praising him but since he is a Democrat you pretend you don’t buy it because you haven’t seen the records yourself.

      • Big Dog says:

I would not praise him no matter what he was if his beliefs remained the same.

I never said he was a dumb person, that is reserved for people who hate Bush. Just because he did not hone his rhetorical skills in the Church of Wright you think Bush is a buffoon. He is not a dumb man.

Of course, the Democrats like to say he is dumb and then say he misled them. How dumb must they be?

But I don’t think Obama is the smartest man in the room either. He is just another guy who puts his pants on one leg at a time but who has radical views and desires.
