Phil Robertson of the Duck Dynasty clan was suspended from A&E for answering a question. The issue was that his opinion about homosexuality and other sins was not what the liberal media or the gay crowd wanted to hear. The tolerant left is only tolerant when you agree with them.
It looks like Robertson will be back at A&E as word has it the network publicly suspended Phil to appease the loud minority at GLADD. Time will tell but A&E will have to put him on to have a show because the family will not go on without him.
The Cracker Barrel chain of restaurants ordered that all Duck Dynasty merchandise (or at least the stuff with Phil on it) be removed from the stores. The chain had no tolerance for that kind of thing, you see.
The funny thing is the country themed eateries are the kind of places people who agree with Phil would eat. The uproar was swift and loud. In no time flat the chain did an about face and ordered the merchandise back on the shelves.
It looks like Cracker Barrel figured out that the small number of gay people in society who might eat in their restaurants is not quite enough to help them keep the lights on. The prospect of losing millions of dollars in business was a bit overwhelming so the about face happened.
One would think the folks running Cracker Barrel might have learned a lesson after the Chick-Fil-A fiasco last year.
These kinds of knee jerk reactions by companies are common and foolish. Cracker Barrel had nothing to do with what Robertson said and having his merchandise on the shelves would not have cost them much, if any, business. It looks like they figured out it actually cost them more to take a side, particularly the wrong side.
As for A&E, they will lose lots of money if the family decides not to continue the show. I can’t imagine the family wants to stay on that network. There are plenty of other places on TV for them to end up.
And they are much friendlier.
Never surrender, never submit.
