What Did This Student Do Wrong?

Jay from Stop the ACLU sent a link to a story he posted about a University of Florida student who was tasered after asking John Kerry a question. Kerry was there for some kind of town hall question and answer and the student asked him something about being in the Skull and Crossbones when George Bush was. It is unclear to me if the student was pro or anti Kerry and if the questions were asked to show that Kerry is scum or to support him. There is just not enough to determine that. However, it is clear to me that the student did nothing wrong. He questioned a politician and no matter how stupid the question is, he has a right to ask it. Not according to the law enforcement there.

This is totally uncalled for and Jay demands the ACLU do something because they are, after all, against tasers. I would not hold my breath Jay. This guy was not a Muslim, an ILLEGAL alien, or an obvious liberal wacko so he is not protected. If it turns out he is a conservative then he will be hanged in the morning. It was nice of Kerry to tell the police to leave the guy alone that he did not mind answering the questions. Oh wait, the coward did not do that. He just allowed this kid to be dragged off and tasered for asking a question. Of course, Kerry is the same horse’s ass who cuts line at the airport (I would be arrested if he cut in front of me and he would be in the hospital). What has this country come to when a citizen cannot ask a question of an elected official? I hope that this video helps this kid sue the school (or the law enforcement agency) and that he gets millions of dollars for the violation of his civil rights.

I also hope they fire every one of those jack booted gestapo cops. Hell, if they can put border patrol agents in jail for shooting drug running ILLEGALS, they should be able to put these cops in Abu Ghraib for violating the rights of a CITIZEN.

As Jay points out, today is Constitution Day. How ironic that the government would violate it in this fashion.

UPDATE: Mr. Tyler Antar left a comment that he was at this forum and that the video does not tell the whole story. He indicated that the student in it, Andrew Meyer, was not arrested for asking questions (as it appears in the video) and he left his email for me to ask a few questions or interview. I have sent him a few questions and asked him to wirte up what happened and I will post it. If this is not what it seems we want to get the truth. That is why I asked What did this student do wrong? So someone could tell me and it looks like Mr. Antar is the one to do so.

It sounds like you have alot of questions about the event. I was actually at the John Kerry Town Hall Forum today and witnessed the whole incident live. Let me tell you that the video does NOT tell the whole story. Many people will think from this video that Andrew Meyer is being arrested basically because of his questions. THAT IS NOT TRUE AND IT IRRITATES ME HOW PEOPLE ARE SKEWING THIS. BD,

I just saw this on TV and the student was not wrong. When he was told to sit down he said that the student before him spoke for 2 hours and he was going to only be allowed 2 minutes? If those were my cops they would all be gone. If they had to taser this young man then they obviously don’t know how to do their jobs. How many of them were there 5, I counted. It’s typical Scum Kerry. He didn’t want to answer a guestion he didn’t like or couldn’t. It might have messed up his hair. I’ll check later for this young man’s reply.

I use to tell my troops that if you got ignorant with the cops they would arrest you however, this kid was removed by the police and broke no law and that is a violation of his civil liberties.

    BD,
I would say the first report it was a rush to judgement. I have seen a few videos on different channels and what was thought to be PD at first were University Police. Not that it makes a difference. They have been trained also. I’m glad to see that they are able to use taser’s. That is what looked like guns in the videos at first. The University Police could also use big nets. Some time, yes it can take more than 2 officers to take some one down. Trust me on that.

I heard on one channel that Meyer gave the camera to someone to film the whole thing. So he had planned to do something. Also he is someone that likes to bring attention to himself. He has a web site that he likes staring on. I didn’t pay attention to the name but it was shown on the news. But some of the students interviewed said that he likes to pull this kind of thing to get the attention. I think Jay called them Truthers. I guess that’s like widget liberals trying to stay in school as long as possible and daddy pays.

I also on one video saw his left arm come up with out a cuff on it so maybe at that point they might have had one on the right arm. I did hear Kerry say let me answer his question. I still don’t like him either. But give Kerry a mic and forget anyone else talking. I’m also pretty sure that Meyer had already read the membership of the Scull and Crossbones at Yale. It goes back a long way. I know the first time I read it I had to keep checking to make sure of the site I was on. I thought I pushed a key and had gone in to a book site or something. I thought well this is interesting and answers some questions if it is all true.

Long story short if Mr. Meyer wants to be a journalist he won’t last long if this is how he plans to advance himself with stunts like this. According to the students this is not his first run in he has had on campus. So the officers are going to be aware of him. They have to take precautions too. I have been tased and peppered(in training) and I think Meyer was a little over on the drama.

I heard on Brit Hume’s show a reporter that had interviewed Meyer, that Meyer said that the public has to be more tolerant of “babbling buffoons in public”. I can’t agree with Sparky on that. I think he needs to realize he is in public,an adult and needs to behave himself.

I hate when I take the first video and totally jump the wrong way. Well that’s my correction.
