What About Those Explosives

In the last post I stated that John Kerry has now agreed that President Bush was right about WMD in Iraq. It appears now that Kerry and his running mate Edwards feel the President should have attacked Iraq sooner. Let me explain.

As I stated, when you look at headlines and use what you read to attack your opponent, you leave yourself open for big mistakes. This appears to be the case with the missing explosives. According to a report at Drudge, the explosives have been missing for 18 months. The explosives were already missing when US troops arrived to secure the sight. John Kerry is blaming the president for explosives that were missing before we arrived and said the president did not do enough to safeguard them. This can only mean that Kerry thinks we should have attacked Iraq earlier so we could get there while the explosives were still there.

It is amazing that Kerry jumped on this without all the facts and it is even more amazing that his buddies in the media are so deep in bed with him they reported it all over the news without knowing the facts. The missing weapons were mentioned 98 times on four major news outlets. You would have thought that someone would do a little research. Perhaps they should have asked George Bush, I’ll bet he knew the truth the whole time everyone else was spouting off. The funny thing is they all call Bush the moron.

These are the last exchanges on the Drudge report.

Dem vp hopeful John Edwards blasted Bush for not securing the explosives: “It is reckless and irresponsible to fail to protect and safeguard one of the largest weapons sites in the country. And by either ignoring these mistakes or being clueless about them, George Bush has failed. He has failed as our commander in chief; he has failed as president.”

A senior Bush official e-mailed DRUDGE late Monday: “Let me get this straight, are Mr. Kerry and Mr. Edwards now saying we did not go into Iraq soon enough? We should have invaded and liberated Iraq sooner?”

Top Kerry adviser Joe Lockhart fired back: “In a shameless attempt to cover up its failure to secure 380 tons of highly explosive material in Iraq, the White House is desperately flailing in an effort to escape blame. Instead of distorting John Kerry’s words, the Bush campaign is now falsely and deliberately twisting the reports of journalists. It is the latest pathetic excuse from an administration that never admits a mistake, no matter how disastrous.”

Notice how Edwards jumps in and says Bush failed. The the Bush official asks if he means we should have gone in earlier. The most interesting line is from that sleaze ball Joe Lockhart. He says in a shameless attempt to cover up its failure to secure the weapons… This completely ignores the fact that the weapons were not there when we arrived. Mr. Lockhart is blaming the president for something that took place before we went in. That would be like blaming Bush for the sexcapade that Clinton had in the Oval Office. It happened before Bush was there. Hey Lockhart you idiot, did you get that.

Lockhart says Bush is twisting the words of the media and of John Kerry. Let me interpret this for you. This is the way the Kerry campaign tries to cover up its blunder. It says their words were misrepresented and then blames the other guy. This is them saying we screwed the pooch on this one and now we have to backpedal our butts off to get out of it. Keep blaming Bush for the missing explosives and maybe people will believe it. They will continue to blame Bush because they have become the proof of their argument. You see John Edwards said by ignoring these mistakes or being clueless about them George Bush has failed. What does this say about the man who wants to be president. He is either ignoring this mistake or is clueless about it which, according to the lawyer, means he failed. It means, according to Edwards, he has failed as a presumptive Commander in Chief and failed as the presumptive president.

This is what happens when you are desperate. Kerry is grasping for anything that will give him the advantage, and is not particular about the veracity of anything he says. I just love to see how all the toadies come out of the woodwork when their man steps on it.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
