TSA, the S is Supposed to Mean SECURITY

The Transportation Security Administration is comprised of a bunch of folks whose job it is to provide security for out transportation systems. They are probably best known for their work in Airports and the ridiculous rules that they impose. I remember going through Little Rock and one checked my ID and 40 feet further before I could put my stuff on the conveyor, another insisted that I show it again as if I morphed into someone else in those 40 feet. I have been searched 5 times in a week despite the fact that I have a military ID card. I believe in random searches but that was a bit ridiculous especially when Muslims walk through because the TSA is afraid of being accused of profiling. A person with whom I worked once labeled them Thousands Standing Around and when you are in the airport, you get that impression.

So, how are they doing with that whole security thing? Well, it looks like they are not doing too well at Baltimore Washington International where hundreds of uniforms and badges have gone missing over the past several years.

According to Transportation Security Administration records, 128 uniforms and 31 identity badges disappeared during the 12 month period ending September 30th, 2003. WBAL Radio

In a statement on the news an official said that this was not a security concern and that it posed no security threat. With that attitude why do they call themselves security? Smart, evil people can use those badges and uniforms to get past security and do bad things. The TSA claims that more is needed to get in but given how much they lost what assurances do we have that they have not lost the other items needed to actually get in?

I am also amazed that the people who think my 2 ounce bottle of shampoo, my shoes and my belt, as well as my eyeglass repair kit and nail clippers are dangerous items and must be confiscated but that the stolen uniforms and badges pose no threat to security.

This is another example of ineptitude run amok. The government had to take this over and now we have a bunch of people who are responsible for our security but who can not secure their own items. Hope this makes you feel safer!
