Treasury Selection Fails To Pay Taxes

The man Barack Obama selected to head Treasury failed to pay about $34,000 in taxes. Timothy Geithner was selected to run the Treasury and he is unable to do what he will expect the rest of us to do. I guess he got his training from Charlie Rangel.

What is it about Democrats that makes them want to tax the hell out of us but not to want to pay their own taxes?

Barack Obama must be slightly embarrassed by this little event given his multi-page vetting form that should have picked this up right away. But incoming White House spokesman Robert Gibbs explained it all away:

“He’s dedicated his career to our country and served with honor, intelligence and distinction,” incoming White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said. “That service should not be tarnished by honest mistakes, which, upon learning of them, he quickly addressed.” My Way News

You see, this is a lie. He paid the taxes a few days before his nomination was announced but that was not “upon learning of them” as indicated. Geithner was informed by the IRS that he owed money in 2006 which was two years ago. Additionally, he failed to pay his taxes on more than one occasion. The truth is that he went for years owing taxes to the government.

If he has such blatant disregard for the law as a citizen how will he act when he is in charge of Treasury?

Geithner also employed an illegal, or as the spokesman calls her, a person without documents.

Geithner also didn’t realize a housekeeper he paid in 2004 and 2005 did not have current employment documentation as an immigrant for the final three months she worked for him, the transition official said.

Boy, the Obama team really missed two big issues with this guy. I hope they pay a bit more attention when they are running the country.

  2. Adam says:

Maybe he fell prey to those conspiracy guys who argue you don’t have to pay taxes under the Constitution and that if you appeal it the IRS can’t make you pay. Just ask Wesley Snipes…

  3. GeorgiaDawg says:

I guess the same accountable standards they held Joe the Plumber to is not applied to the toadies they call demorats.
I don’t pay no stinking taxes!!!!

    Bingo GeorgiaDawg,
Joe the Plumber had to be a bad guy because he was in arrears on taxes but this guy is OK. Him and Charlie Rangel.

Adam, most people know that with the passage of the XVI Amendment we have to pay income taxes. Of course the Constitution allowed for taxes before that but the way they had to be enforced caused problems.

Let me ask though, income tax means a tax on income. How is the money you make at work income? Your wages are given to you in exchange for your labor. There was no increase in wealth, you just traded labor for money.

  5. Adam says:

When I read your comment I thought it would be funny to see how the IRS defines “income” for their purposes. Crazy enough it looks like the IRS needs 40 pages to define “income”. I suppose so as to prevent us from dodging it with semantic arguments…

  6. Big Dog says:

For me it is not a matter of dodging it. The Congress and America did that with the XVI Amendment. They took away the words that made taxing income difficult.

The founders did not intend for wages to be taxed but it worked out that way.

When do we go from paying taxes to supporting a tyranny? What was the boiling point for the Founders and when will we hit it?

  7. Adam says:

It’s hard to pay for welfare and war without taxing income. I don’t agree with consumption taxes in general because they would tend to hurt the very poor of our society. I don’t know the answer really…

  8. Big Dog says:

The fair tax is probably the best or a flat rate. Of course, military expenditures are in the Constitution but welfare is not….

Every person should pay taxes. A flat tax would do that and a fair tax would do that. Hell the tax rate when Reagan got in office for the rich was like 90%. They should not have to pay that and the poor use more government services.

Still, I think everyone should pay an equal amount (in percentage) or a fair tax. I also don’t think we should give refunds to people who pay no taxes.

Then again, I am opposed to the stimulus because it will cause more of the same problems we are now having.

And it seems the Congressional REPUBLICANS are giving him a pass. WTFO? What do we have to do to get representation that believes in the rule of law?

  10. Mrs Jack says:

I knew it wouldn’t be long before Barry Soetoro screwed the American people, GOD BLESS the unborn children Barry plans on murdering and GOD BLESS all the dumbass people that voted his dumbass into office, you are not true Americans for doing so.
