To DC or Not To DC, That Is The Question

John McCain suspended his campaign activities in order to return to DC and do the job we are paying him to do. The nation faces a financial crisis right now and the politicians are having trouble coming up with a plan to stop the bleeding in our economy and financial markets. Harry Reid specifically requested that McCain come back to Washington though he changed his mind when he found out Barack Obama was not happy about it. There was no doubt McCain would return because he puts the country first. The question was, would Obama return.
Barack Obama answered that when he said that he had a cell phone and if he was needed they could call. I guess since votes of “present” don’t count, he was not needed. This situation calls for leadership and this is why Harry Reid called for McCain:
“We need, now, the Republicans to start producing some votes for us. We need the Republican nominee for president to let us know where he stands and what we should do.”
Harry Reid is the Leader of the Senate but he said that he needed McCain to tell them “what we should do.” As Ed Morrissey pointed out, Reid did not say that he needed Obama to tell them what they should do. When Harry Reid needed a leader he bypassed Obama and called for McCain.
The Obama campaign and its surrogates are saying that this is a political stunt by McCain. Reid called for him and he responded but after he did Reid changed his mind so the question is, who is playing politics?
I heard Obamabots throughout the day saying that a deal was nearly reached before McCain got there and then McCain messed it up. The reality is, both chambers had not agreed on a bill. The Senate had a plan but the House had not agreed to it. They were not close to a deal because there are many points of contention with the bill. One in particular is this:
Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency.
It appears to me as if the Democrats, the majority party, don’t want to make decisions because they are potentially political disasters that could come back to haunt them in the election. They are trying to pin this on Republicans by making them take the decisions and support the bill. Republicans are refusing to give in on a bad bill.
Obama said that a president should be able to multi-task so there is no need to go to DC when they can be involved by phone. Maybe if Senator Obama spent more time doing his job he would know that a Senator has to be physically present to vote (otherwise he could not vote present). Besides, if Obama wants us to believe he can fix the economy, what better way to show us?
Obama is more interested in debating than working on a crisis in this country. I wonder if 9/11 had happened during a campaign like this, would Obama’s actions be the same as they are now? I would say that they would. Hours after McCain announced his return to DC, Obama’s campaign sent out an email that said the American people only have 40 days left to decide so it is important for the debate to go off as planned. It closes with this:
“This is an important time, and we have to keep this campaign focused on the crucial issues.”
What is a more important issue, addressing the financial problem or debating? Why must the debate go off as planned when Obama refused 10 other debates? Why is it more important to keep the campaign focused on critical issues rather than keeping the Senator focused on the critical issues like say, a financial meltdown? By making this statement Obama has shown that his campaign comes first and the country second. Maybe we would not question his commitment or patriotism if his actions were more like a committed patriot and less egocentric.
Barack Obama only cares about winning. He has spent half of his political life campaigning for another office. This is particularly true with regard to this campaign since he has spent more time on the road pandering for votes than he has working in the Senate (143 days on the job).
Is it too much to ask that he take time away from the campaign trail to do the job that we are paying him to do?
No worries Barry. The Senate leader knows who to call for real leadership and America now knows who puts the country first.

Once again one of our candidates for president is treating us like we’re idiots and you’re spinning it to club Dems with. Big surprise. Outside of this bubble of support for McCain we all know he didn’t “suspend” his campaign and is just putting on yet another political show in a different form.
I waited though and wondered how it was you were going to use this incredibly dumb, unpopular, detail lacking bailout plan to club Dems with. Good work…
Now Obama is the one who doesn’t come to work and do his job? Sure, he’s missed some votes in the US Senate but you’re comparing him to McCain who ranks #1 in absence just ahead of a guy who had a brain hemorrhage. This is the same thing that the GOP clubbed Kerry with but I guess it doesn’t count if you’re voting McCain…
The number of missed votes is not as important as what the votes are for. I think we can all agree that naming post offices (which seems to be the thing they do most) is not as important as what is going on now.
Lest we forget, Harry Reid asked McCain to come back to DC. John might have figured they had it under control but Reid stated he needed direction, someone to tell them what to do.
So blame harry Reid for asking McCain to come back (and not asking Obama). Do you suppose Reid did this thinking McCain would not show in order to say he does not put country first and then balked when McCain called his bluff?
Once again, you allow the actions of the Dems to go unscathed as you criticize me for supporting the call from Congress for help. Your party said they needed someone to tell them what to do. John McCain, as he has always done, answered that call.
So when Obama skips votes it’s always important, like the bailout? And when McCain skips votes it’s for naming a post office? Stretch.
Yes, so Reid called McCain to “do his job” but I didn’t see where Reid said “Call a press conference, ‘suspend’ your campaign, ‘cancel’ the debate, make a big deal about it, and come to DC!” Yet there you have it. There goes McCain…
Now with even less resolution on the issue than before the showboating began McCain blinked and said the debate is back on. This thing could really blow up in his face and make him look like an idiot.
I guess I’m not following. What Dem actions have I “once again” allowed to go unscathed?
Ok Adam what about the whole ACORN gets 20% of every sale crap? That’s just BS right there, my tax dollars shouldn’t be going to that criminal organization in the first place let alone even more of them.
The Dems have enough to push this through with out the GOP, so why aren’t they? They know this bill is a POS and it will kill their chants of “Not another 4 years of Bush” since they pushed it though. They also know that their heads will be on the chopping block (too bad we can’t make it literal) in November if they do this and want the GOP to share in the blame for the mess that they created.
I’m pissed off. I’m pissed I had to buy a house at an inflated price, I’m pissed that I make my mortgage payment every month. I’m pissed that some asshole who bought more house than they could afford gets some of my tax money to bail them out. I’m pissed that these bankers are getting their asses bailed out with our tax dollars where other businesses and people are left to fail. I’m pissed that the Congressional Representatives and Senators of both parties (along with Clinton and Carter) who created this mess aren’t going to suffer any repercussions aside from possibly (and I do mean possibly since Dems seem to turn a blind eye to their candidates skull duggery) being voted out of office.
We need to vote the lot of them out and get a damn Congressional term limit instituted along with real repercussions for ethical violations and abuse of their powers and authority.
Actually, Obama and McCain discussed this earlier in the day and McCain suggested that they postpone the debate. Obama would have none of it. Then that little maggot told McCain he did not need to be afraid to debate. Listen up, Obama is the coward. He refused to debate McCain 10 times this Summer. He is an arrogant piece of crap and an affirmative action candidate. I have had enough of his black man in the hood routine and am tired of him brothering up. He needs to have the snot smacked out of him. How dare he call McCain afraid.

You also did not see Reid call on Obama for leadership. Reid played a political game. He called on McCain figuring he would not come and then the donks could say McCain really does not put country first. McCain answered the call on a large scale. He suspended and then went. Then that weasel Reid said Oh no, we don’t need you and blamed McCain for the slow down when people at the meetings said it was that inexperienced black panther who did it.
There was little resolution when he arrived. The House and Senate were nowhere near an agreement and in case they skipped that in school, it is required in order to get legislation passed. Obama gummed it up with his input but they are close to something today. McCain was told by the party that they would not be working on it any more today and that he could go do the debate and come back to DC on Saturday.
Where will the magic negro be on Saturday? Probably a fundraiser.

You and all the other libs can ignore the facts but Obama was hip deep with these people and and the Democrats have blocked Republican efforts to tighten things up as stated by your hero Bill Clinton and as demonstrated in the NYT and the bill McCain cosponsored in 2005 and in the 17 times Bush tried to warn.
Now, Pelosi, Reid and every liberal idiot in the world is saying they had nothing to do with it. That bone smoker Barney Frank is the one who said Fannie and Freddie were financially sound and the Democrats are the ones who gave us the legislation that required the bad loans and blocked the efforts to tighten control.

None of it was racist. Besides, libs and blacks have screamed racism about so much for so long it is no longer valid to me. When someone says racist I assume the person who is being accused was right and is just being attacked by people who have no ability to take responsibility in life so they blame racism.
Kind of like buying a house you can’t afford and then asking the taxpayer to pay for it.
Unfortunately racism is not subject to your interpretation and simply because people over use the phrase when a better term would do is no excuse for actual racist ranting.

Well, I would welcome anyone to show me racism in the statements. That is one debate I am ready to have (and I mean it, not like Obama who runs and hides). Racism is not subject to my interpretation then whose is it subject to? I mean, who gets to define it? Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson? Nothing they say has relevance. I have a First Amendment right and I use it and if people think it is something different than what it is then that is their problem, not mine.
You see, if I hear a black guy say it in a rap song or on the street then it is not racist for me to say.

I will make this clear. The housing crisis is the result of the government FORCING banks to lend money to people who would otherwise not be able to get a loan.
Barney Frank audited Fannie and Freddie and said they were denying too many loans to minorities and he made that assessment based solely on the race of applicants who were denied. He never checked income, credit worthiness or anything else, just race. Then came the rules and threats.
Are minorities to blame, no. The social policies that said we had to give loans to people who could not afford them (mostly people of color) and of course illegals led to this disaster. Banks were forced to make loans they would never make otherwise.
Then, Democrats who enforced this denied there were problems until the roof was falling in.
Obama was collecting huge amounts of money from the companies while we were going under.
That is what happened.
I was just listening to the after debate commentary and Hope and Change Inc went back to his hotel and there will be a full day of campaigning tommorrow for him and McCain went back to DC.
Let’s see: “black man in the hood routine”, “brothering up”, “affirmative action candidate”, “magic negro”, “ghetto dweller”? You use all of these terms offensively and in an insulting manner towards Obama. There’s no way around being racist when you use that language yet you keep thinking that being racist is open to your interpretation. Nobody said you lack a 1st amendment right to say these things. You act like that makes it not racist? Get real. You’re smarter than that, so why do you act so dumb when it comes to this point?
Using what someone considers a racist remark is always open to someone’s interpretation. If Al Sharpton is offended then we all have to cower. Let him and blacks use racist language and you and they excuse it because of an institution that none of them ever experienced.

Obama attended school on affirmative action programs. He skated through the primary because the media did not want to say anything that might be viewed as racist, he screams racism every time someone farts and if he were not black he would not have won. A white man with his very sparse experience and shady past would have been trounced by Clinton. Saying that affirmative action is involved is not racist. It is a matter of preferential treatment for a person who is not white. Obama has certainly received that. Look at the difference between how his vast drug use has been ignored and how everyone goes after Bush for a drug past that is speculative because he never admitted it.
Magic Negro as a racist term? Spike Lee used it (though you are right he is a racist). It has been used throughout history to indicate a black man who is often mystical and saves hapless white people.
A ghetto is described as a “portion of a city in which members of a minority group live especially because of social, legal, or economic pressure.” (Webster)
Obama was a
rabble rousercommunity organizer in an area that was inhabited by poor blacks who had poor social conditions so they were in ghettos. Obama lived among them or dwelled there and that makes him a ghetto dweller.I do not act dumb when it comes to this point. The FACT is all of these words have meaning that are not racist and are used by the black community. It is how people interpret them or what meaning they put to them that allows them to think of racism.
If a black guy says it then I can say it and it is either racist in both cases or not in both cases.
People who assign racism to everything are real racists. I retired from the first segregated institution in this country which happened long before Republicans liberated black people from the Democrats who forced them to be second class citizens.
