There Was No Connection, I Repeat…

For several years now we have heard all the left wing loonies tell us there was no connection between Hussein and bin Laden. There are also claims that Hussein had nothing to do with 9/11. I will agree that he had no direct involvement but his hand was in the cookie jar. We are supposed to believe people who listen to the rantings of Michael Moore and his assertion that there is no terrorist threat. I suppose the 20 years of attacks on us and our interests does not count as a threat to the Land Whale. We have the same group of people telling us that Bush lied and people died and that there were no WMD and we knew it. Hogwash! Hussein had and used chemical weapons. He could not have possibly disposed of the items without leaving evidence in the form of products of degradation. You see, one other thing American forces did not find was a facility designed to render such things harmless. You can find them all around the world. We have some right here in the US where we are actively disposing of our stockpile.

So we have the 9/11 commission to find out what went wrong. In fact it was more like a commission to save what is left of the Clinton legacy. The Commission did not do a thorough job and key information was left out of the report, for some strange reason. When the report was published the left went nuts saying it showed there was no connection between Hussein and 9/11 or Hussein and OBL. Perhaps the reason they did not do a complete job is that they would have not only showed a connection but would have shown that policies put into place by the prior administration prevented information from being shared among the various intelligence and law enforcement agencies. Congress is full of people who will hang a guy on the other side of the aisle out to dry. When it looks like both sides might look bad they circle their wagons and cover up.

A lot of air time has been given to the Downing Street Memo. The left, in unison, started a feeding frenzy over a memo that contains minutes of a meeting that Bush and Blair did not attend and at best is third generation hearsay. The language of the memo is vague and though the left buzzes around the word “fix” as in fix evidence around, there is no absolute confirmation that this suggests doing something illegal. In all likelihood, it represents the British way of saying that if we are going to so this it has to based upon this information. But, we still have the moonbats telling us that there is a cover up and the MSM is not giving this attention because they are in Bush’s pocket. Right, so much so that they quashed the Cindy Sheehan non-story and stopped cBS from displaying phony documents.

So my question is, if the left is so concerned with the truth why are they quiet about the Able Danger Program? Why are they not screaming for as much information as possible about this “new” revelation (that was made available to the 9/11 Commission, yet unreported)? The Able Danger Program contains information that shows a connection between Hussein and OBL and indicates there was planning going on to attack US interests around the world. Perhaps it is that the information will shed some really bad light on the Clinton Administration and its policies? Here is some information to ponder:

The Middle East Intelligence Bulletin summarized the report from al-Watan al-Arabi:

Al-Watan al-Arabi (Paris) reports that two Iraqis were arrested in Germany, charged with spying for Baghdad. The arrests came in the wake of reports that Iraq was reorganizing the external branches of its intelligence service and that it had drawn up a plan to strike at US interests around the world through a network of alliances with extremist fundamentalist parties.

The most serious report contained information that Iraq and Osama bin Ladin were working together. German authorities were surprised by the arrest of the two Iraqi agents and the discovery of Iraqi intelligence activities in several German cities. German authorities, acting on CIA recommendations, had been focused on monitoring the activities of Islamic groups linked to bin Ladin. They discovered the two Iraqi agents by chance and uncovered what they considered to be serious indications of cooperation between Iraq and bin Ladin. The matter was considered so important that a special team of CIA and FBI agents was sent to Germany to interrogate the two Iraqi spies. Weekly Standard, 8/17/2005

Keep in mind that the information gathered by Able Danger was from before Bush’s presidency and the cited information is from arrests in March 2001. It would seem that the Germans knew these folks were working together. Perhaps our intelligence community could have come up with names had Able Danger been able to share them when they were discovered. It would be easy to attack the Bush Administration since they were now in power but the existence of the so called wall between agencies was not really discovered until 9/11 exposed serious lapses in the law enforcement and intelligence communities. No matter what the reason, there is compelling evidence that we knew about them early on and this was ignored, or more appropriately, got lost in a bureaucratic boondoggle. Another glaring item is that other intelligence agencies knew of the the Iraq OBL connection. Perhaps all the stories about us receiving information about Iraq from other countries is accurate.

No matter what the outcome of this, there is one thing we will never get answered. Why is the left so obsessed with the DSM and its third party hearsay and with what John Roberts wrote 20 years ago but they are not concerned about the information from Able Danger? We will also never know why the intelligence was presented to the Commission and ignored. But one thing you will hear: Flat refusal that there was a connection between Hussein and OBL. The left will continue to beat that drum despite the evidence.

I guess if we want to know what the motivation is we need only look as far as who it will discredit and who it will harm. We have also learned that no matter how many times they say something, they will not convince people if Sandy Burger does not get all copies of the documents down his pants.

  1. You and I know the motivation. If you can’t beat them with the facts, beat them with the drums. Most people are like sheep. They are easily led and the libs know it. The repetition has a way of becoming fact. They are masters of exploiting that. The conservatives try to assume the people on the right are smarter than that…but most are not.

This is just a footnote: When the most recent Harry Potter book came out, one of the left-leaning newspapers (the Post, I think) did a story on how the Potter books had to be translated from the King’s English to Americanized English. It was all about how words have different meanings across “the pond.” I found it to be an interesting parallel to the Downing Street Memo controversy. If I can find the link, I will post it here.

Well, I’m concerned about Able Danger. I’ve been actively searching for more information on the program/team. I’ve also heard quite a bit about Able Danger on the “liberal-biased” news, which I find interesting since I’ve heard very little about the “Downing Street Memo” or even two of the documents released to “The National Archive” this week on “liberal-biased” news.

It’s true I haven’t posted about it on my own blog, but before I form my own conspiracy-laden opinion about it, I want to make sure there’s some truth to it. Right now it seems to be a he said/they said kind of story…and why did the Able Danger people wait so long to come forward to the public?

To be honest, I’ve decided that there’s no media that will give you just the facts anymore and I’m not entirely sure that we’re getting the facts at all from anyone.

I just wanted to say that this made me giggle because I hear it so often coming from the libs in reference to the conservatives rather than the other way around. Apparently, it’s all about perception. Maybe both sides are using the same tactic and we only see it as a problem for the other side.

Perhaps Able Danger was not presented because it was Classified.
They brought it to the attention of the 9/11 Commission yet it was not investigated or reported. Also, some of the people who are now reporting it were otherwise occupied in Afghanistan. They were probably a little busy thinking about other things.

Judicial Watch was the organization that spent four years trying to get the documents through the Freedom of Information Act. You can download a pdf of these documents from them. Take this link and download the “usama.pdf.”

    Hope that helps.

BTW, the documents aren’t the Able Danger docs, but they do discuss UBL.

I’m not sure why the left is even trying to maintain the lack of connection between Bin Laden and Hussein, although it does fit into their pattern of disconnected, non-linear arguments (using the term loosely). Of course, it shouldn’t surprise us that people who constantly whine like children reason like children as well.

I seem to recall Senator Patty Murray telling a classroom full of school children in her home state of Washington that we should all wonder what bad things the United States did to Usama bin Laden to make him so angry, after he had done so much to build hospitals and day care centers in the Third World (as a famous columnist might add, “I am not making this up!”) So I should think the left would be happy with a connection between Hussein and bin Laden, which would thereby confirm they are both global philanthropists whose biggest problem is hateful warmongering by that evil USA. I think that, in fact, we probably won’t hear much negative rhetoric about bin Laden from the left, because he is one of their heros for several reasons: He hates the US, he loves to see bad things happen to the US military, and he has so far prevailed to some degree over George Bush’s efforts to remove him from his version of power (though NO plots for additional major attacks against this country have succeeded since 9/11). The left was unable to prevail against George Bush when voters went to the poles, and I seriously believe the capture of bin Laden by Bush’s government and military would be viewed by them as a defeat.

Even if my enemy’s enemy may not be my friend, more surely my enemy’s friend is likely to be my enemy.
