The Washington Monument, An Appropriate Symbol Now More Than Ever
by Big Dog on Aug 24, 2011 at 10:28 Political
The earthquake that struck the east coast yesterday caused a few cracks in the Washington Monument and it has been closed in order to determine how best to repair it before it can be reopened.
Contrary to early reports, the monument is not leaning, it is just cracked, or broken, and needs to be fixed.
This Monument is an appropriate symbol for our country at this time.
Just like the Monument, Washington is broken and needs to be fixed

BD- I know you live in Maryland- how did you fare in the quake? Good, I hope- now, you need to get ready for the hurricane- I hope you are prepared there- We went through hell with Ike, 3 years ago (the eyewall passed over us). I hope you all do well.
Hey Blake, the quake was not much of an event though they talked it to death, probably because it is a novelty here. No damage to the house and no major injuries I am aware of.
I am prepared for the hurricane, then again I am a conservative (and veteran) and I have a plan. I will not pull a Katrina victim and stand around waiting for someone to show me where dry land is.
Thanks for your concern. By Monday we should know how bad it turns out. I think it will be bad.
