The Troops Are A Good Photo Op For Obama

While Obama dithers on making a troop decision he has taken the time to visit some of them at various bases. One was in Alaska and another in South Korea. Obama told the troops that they made a pretty good photo op.

This is what the Resident thinks of the troops, they are a good photo op. While he is playing games there are men and women in harm’s way who need more support. The request for that support has been on his desk since August but Obama has failed to take a decision on sending the help their commander says they need. Aides say it is unlikely a decision will be taken before Thanksgiving.

While the rest of the nation gives thanks our troops will be praying that they get help sometime within Obama’s first term.

Let’s see. Stimulus, we have to do it NOW. Health care takeover, we have to do it NOW, Cap and Trade, well he wanted it NOW but has to wait until after the next election. Everything is NOW, NOW, NOW with this guy except when it comes to sending help to the troops. That can wait until Obama is good and ready.

How many times have we heard about people dying in the streets because health care is screwed up? This is a blatant lie but it plays on emotions. The only people I have seen die in the streets were involved in accidents or victims of violence.

Health care is a matter of life or death, or so we are led to believe but sending help to our troops is not such a matter of life or death, except to those on the battlefield.

My liberal friends tell me (and I read liberal commenters at other sites) that they like the idea that Obama is taking his time and carefully weighing options with regard to the troops. It shows how deliberative he is.

But the same people are pushing for health care reform right NOW and want no delays. Our troops are getting shot at and some are dying on the battlefield while Obama deliberates. On the other hand Obama is balls to the wall for health care reform. He wants that by the end of the year but when he gets to helping the troops is anyone’s guess.

This is nothing more than dereliction of duty. Just like a Democrat to abandon our troops.

During the campaign Obama said he would have to earn the trust of the troops. I said then that he did not have the experience to be Commander in Chief and he is showing that each and every day.

As for earning trust. Good luck with that.

At least they provide his ego with a good photo op.

This is nothing more than dereliction of duty? Just like a Democrat to abandon our troops? Is there no end to your fabrications about how bad Obama is for the troops?

Right, because Bush was so speedy when troops were requested for Afghanistan.

I’m sorry your Commander and Chief is “dithering” (got to love that echo-chamber language) when he should just be rubber stamping everything his commanders request…

    • Blake says:

Well- these commanders know a LOT more than that military- hating SOB- he should at least TRY to act like a “commander in chief” instead of “coward of the country.”

    • Big Dog says:

Wow Adam, looks like the Brits are part of the right wing echo chamber:

Senior British Government sources have become increasingly frustrated with Mr Obama’s “dithering” on Afghanistan, the Daily Telegraph disclosed earlier this month, with several former British defence chiefs echoing the concerns. Telegraph [emphasis mine]

  2. Big Dog says:

If you want echo chamber just record what you say. You are the echo chamber for the left. You and Darrel are reverberation kings.

Yes, Bush had decisions to make regarding the balance between Iraq and Afghanistan. But he did not go balls to the walls on everything and neglect the troops.

Obama wants all his agenda items now but is deliberating on the troops. This is an undeniable fact.

You will, of course, deny it but the truth is he is full speed ahead for his health care takeover (which will not provide benefits until 2014) because there is no time to waste but he is wasting time on the troop request.

    Defend that.

  3. Adam says:

You can pretend I’m the one echoing something but yet why are you the one always getting caught using common conservative language such as “dither” or “lobbed” or “gutted”?

Obama and Congress have been working since about July on on health care changes and probably won’t finish it this year.

Obama’s been considering the Afghan support request since it was given to him August 30th (2.5 months ago) and is expected to give an answer after Thanksgiving.

It’s some kind of mystery how you arrive at the conclusion that taking 6+ months for healthcare legislation is full speed ahead but just 2.5 months for considering the direction of the Afghan war is “dithering”…

  4. Darrel says:

“Obama arrived on the base… and received a rousing welcome from 1,500 troops in camouflage uniforms, many holding cameras or pointing cellphones to snap pictures.

“You guys make a pretty good photo op,” the president said.”

    It’s a compliment.

Since when is there something wrong with complimenting the troops?

    • Adam says:

Don’t you get it by now? Bush joking about not finding the WMD that started the war and cost thousands of Americans lives? That was HILARIOUS, because we all know Bush supported the troops. Obama’s joke about the “rousing welcome”? Well, that’s just an INSULT, because we all know Obama hates the troops…

  5. Big Dog says:

If you want to compliment the troops then complement their strength.

Adam, show me where I used the words lobbed and gutted.

And Obama wanted the health care bill on his desk by August so he could sign it. Congress has been the hold up but he wanted it immediately. Stimulus, practically overnight (and then it sat on his desk for four days while he went on a date).

And this was the guy who had a plan for the war and implemented it. Now he needs to think again. He has a seasoned General who told him what is needed. He should listen to him and not wait for the polls.

    • In on it not says:

      “My liberal friends tell me…”
Trust me BD, you have no liberal friends. Liberals don’t make “friends,” they make aquaintances, connections and they make capachino. They make gay and lesbian assignments.

      But they don’t make friends.

  6. Adam says:

Most people launch or fire missiles, but notice how Clinton “lobbed missiles“:

Apr 24, 2006: “Then we could have lobbed missiles into Iran as punishment for their indiscretions.”

Nov 8th, 2007: “He lobbed missiles into Iraq and no one said a word…”

Feb 8, 2008: “…he learned from the best though he lobbed missiles to keep the focus away from his various transgressions.”

Jun 17, 2008: “If he used what was done while he was VP he would have treated it like a criminal act, lobbed a few missiles and called it a day.”

    Bill Clinton “gutted the military“:

Feb 19th, 2005: “Bill Clinton gutted the military…”

Mar 10, 2006: “The budget was never balanced and we never had a surplus but we sure had a military that had been gutted.”

Jan 3, 2006: “Where was this man telling us that Clinton fouled up the military when he gutted it?”

  7. Adam says:

Every group has common language of course but there are a few key phrases that many, many conservatives use. The word “dither” is just the newest one.

  8. Big Dog says:

Thanks for pointing out that a military guy would say lobbed and gutted when referring to missiles and the military. It is so common that I never thought about saying it and you went and dug up where I used common terminology.

I imagine in your world that constitutes echo chamber rather than figuring a guy who spent 24 years in the military might say lobbed a missile or gutted the military.

But you got me, I used the words lobbed and gutted.

I also use the words THE, He, SHE, and THEY. Does that mean it too is an echo?

I seem to remember that you use to echo the libs at your old site.

In fact, pee your pants, wet your pants, republicans are afraid, racist, homophobe and xenophobe are all echo chamber words you like to parrot.

    • Adam says:

Sorry, but many, many conservatives are saying those phrases, not just those of you in the service.

Pee your pants qualifies for sure. As I said above I don’t deny that liberals have common language, I just like pointing out the obvious ones you use.
