The Staged Question And State Run Media

Politico reports that it appeared to be a rehearsed question but to anyone else it actually was. The sequence of events and the words used make it clear that Barack Obama (probably his people) staged a question from a person who represented, of all places, the Huffington Post.

“Nico, I know you and all across the Internet, we’ve been seeing a lot of reports coming out of Iran,” Obama said, addressing Pitney. “I know there may actually be questions from people in Iran who are communicating through the Internet. Do you have a question?”

Pitney, as if ignoring what Obama had just said, said: “I wanted to use this opportunity to ask you a question directly from an Iranian.”

He then noted that the site had solicited questions from people in the country “who were still courageous enough to be communicating online.” Politico

This should really come as no surprise. During the primaries many of the questions that were supposed to be from everyday people were actually from surrogates, supporters and people who were working to get a Democrat, particularly Obama, elected.

The White House is moving closer to having state run media. On Wednesday ABC will air a two hour Obama infomercial to push his health care plan. As an aside, look for more of the fear mongering Obama said had to stop.

ABC will not allow opposition commercials or allow people with differing views to participate. The Republicans say this amounts to an in kind political donation. I agree.

I hardly watch ABC (and from the latest news, I am not alone) but this week I am boycotting them. I would like to see quite a few others boycott and cost them money.

Except for Fox News, the MSM is in Obama’s hip pocket. They are not the watchdogs for the public, they are the media wing of the Democratic Party.

Obama should enjoy it now because they will turn on him. It happens all the time.

That might explain why he is rushing so much through. He wants to get it done while the media are helping him.

UPDATE: Hannity reported that the “reporter” in question was called by the White House and asked to ask that question and then he was escorted to where he would sit. So much for openness and transparency. State run media, where the state decides what you should ask.

I know one thing — I am sick of seeing this man on the television interrupting my regularly scheduled broadcasting! If he wanted to be a star perhaps he should have gone to Hollywood instead of DC. Annoying and full of crap – rather watch reruns than this reality show from HE**.

  2. Blake says:

First, he was weak on any response to the Iranian situation, then he pretends to “speak” to a staged question from this hack reporter? Oh please- this guy( I can’t really even call him a man) can’t even be presidential without sticking his finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing.

Best part was not even answering the STAGED question. O tap-dances better than Fred Astaire.

    Updates to your politico link:

UPDATE: Deputy press secretary Bill Burton responds: “We did reach out to him prior to press conference to tell him that we had been paying attention to what he had been doing on Iran and there was a chance that he’d be called on. And, he ended up asking the toughest question that the President took on Iran. In the absence of an Iranian press corps in Washington, it was an innovative way to get a question directly from an Iranian.”

UPDATE 2: Knoller, again via Twitter: “Huffington Post’s Nico Pitney says the WH called him this morning and invited him to ask his Iran questions at the news conference.”

UPDATE 3: Pitney says the White House reached out about his Iran coverage, but only said it was possible he’d get a question.

It was coordinated. Of course the WH will spin it to look good but this does not give the appearance of our much touted free press to the rest of the world. It looks like government runs it.

    Speaking of media lap dogs…

BD you live in MD and I am sure you’re aware of the recent Metro accident. Now I don’t want to seem like a “conspiracy nut job” but they are taking a long time to identify the cause of the problem.

Is it possible that the wreck was caused by a cyber-terror attack on the D.C. metro system? The time (afternoon rush hour), severity of the accident, “equipment failure”, and an operator who attempted to but failed to stop the train.

From an article aboutt he wreck:

Officials said Metro trains travel above sensors along the rail that can automatically detect when trains are getting too close to one another. The computerized systems stops them from coming within 1,200 feet of each other, and investigators need to find out why it didn’t work.

“What causes us concern the most is the fact that this was not supposed to happen,” said Jackie Jeter, president of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 689 today. “There are safety mechanisms that are on place on the trains to prevent this type of accident. And, for me, as president of the union and as a train operator, I have to wonder why didn’t those safety mechanisms kick in and prevent it.”

Is it possible that we’ve had the first Terrorist attack on American soil and the Obama Administration is covering it up? I hope not, and I’m not prone to conspiracy theories, but something doesn’t feel right about ths accident. There have been others in the past but never this severe, and never such a complete failure of safeguards.

    • Blake says:

No, personally I think it was incompetence- if it was terror, we would have had some faction take credit. It was just a stupid person not qualified to do their job, in all likelihood.

This guy almost makes you long for the “good ole days” of (Gulp!) Bubba Clinton.
