The Army Does Police Its Own

Gen. Kevin P. Byrnes the commander of the Army’s Training and Doctrine Command was relieved of his command by Army Chief of Staff Gen. Peter Schoomaker. The specific allegations are not released as a matter of policy but we do know it is a matter of personal conduct.

In the military personal conduct is important. We do not know what this involved but the fact is the Army saw it as a problem and relieved him which in effect ends his career. What we now need is the same code of discipline for our elected officials. We need to be able to relieve a Commander in Chief for personal misconduct (like adultery and lying under oath). We need to be able to hold our elected officials to the same standards as the military men and women who are out there securing our freedom.

My friends on the left can talk badly about the military and they can say that people get away with all kinds of things but they would be hard pressed to back up those claims. Unlike the politicians they worship, the people in the military are held to a higher standard and are expected to be above the rest of society. This action by the Army shows that the military takes its responsibilities seriously. If only we could get that from Congress…
