Thank You Veterans

Today is Veteran’s Day and I would like to take the opportunity to thank the men and women who serve in our armed forces as well as those veterans who have served selflessly throughout the history of our young nation. We enjoy the freedoms that so many take for granted because of the sacrifice of these men and women. The history of our country is painted with the blood of warriors who saw something more important in the greater good of this nation than in their own personal situations.

Today American Flags hang in display of patriotism and honor those who fight at the gates of hell so that Satan can not attack us. Those men and women put duty, honor, and country above themselves and do things many people lack the courage or desire to do. Today is 11/11 and in my mind it is appropriate for it to be Veteran’s Day because the veterans of this country are always number one.

This is from Wikipedia:

According to the book, “Our Flag” published by the House of Representatives, “The colors red, white, and blue did not have meanings for The Stars and Stripes when it was adopted in 1777.” It goes on to say, on page 41 (page 47 of the PDF version) that the colors of the Great Seal of the United States, when it was adopted in 1782, were defined thus: “White signifies purity and innocence, Red, hardiness & valour, and Blue, the color of the Chief [the broad band above the stripes] signifies vigilance, perseverance & justice.”

Many people also take the red as a reference to the blood of patriots, especially members of the military, who fought for freedom [my emphasis]

Though those colors have significance on the Great Seal, one can not discount the fact that they were used for the Flag and thus, have the same symbolic meaning. When you see that flag today take time to think about the blood that has been spilled throughout history so that you can live in America in a free society rather than in a place like Iran or North Korea where the only freedoms people have are the freedoms to suffer at the hands of their leaders.

Thank you Veterans.
