Terrorist Leader Might Be Dead

I get regular updates via email that deal with terrorism throughout the world. The items are all public access and there is no secrecy to them. It just so happens that they are all combined into a neat little package so I do not have to look all over for the information. In the one I got today there was an interesting story but I can not confirm the veracity of it because there is absolutely nothing else about it anywhere.

The email gave a link to this site which is reporting:.

Baghdad, 2 June (AKI) – The Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi – al-Qaeda’s leader in Iraq – died on Friday and his body is in Fallujah’s cemetary[sic], an Iraqi Sunni sheikh, Ammar Abdel Rahim Nasir, has told the Saudi on-line newspaper Al-Medina. He claims that gunfights which broke out in Fallujah in the last few days involved militants trying to protect the insurgency leader’s tomb from a group of American soldiers patrolling the area.

The report indicates that he died Friday 6/3 yet it is dated on the 2nd. I can only assume that this is because of the time difference. In any case, there has been no report that I can find. Drudge does not have anything about it at the present. If it is true then I scooped Drudge? Say it isn’t so. The site is in another language (except for the English story) so I can not get any other information from it.

If this is true then it would be great news. We need all these terrorists dead and we can get on with our lives without worrying about one of them showing up with a dynamite factory strapped to his chest. I get the feeling this might not be legitimate.

Let’s just hope it doesn’t turn into a freak show like with Saddam’s sons and the head of Hamas.
