Copyright © 2012 Big Dog. Visit the original article at http://www.onebigdog.net/hard-day-for-weiner/.

Looks like the Weiner had a hard day today. Anthony Weiner, DEMOCRAT, Congressman from New York held a press conference today and the result was that the coverup is worse than the crime. Perhaps he is not familiar with Watergate. In any event, for those who do not know, here are the brief points. Last Friday a Tweet went out from Anthony Weiner and it showed him in his underwear with a bulge displayed. Weiner stated that his account had been hacked and instead of calling for a criminal investigation, he enlisted the services of a lawyer.

For a week, Weiner has maintained that someone accessed his account and played a prank because of his name. He said he did not know if the picture was of him (it was, the thing was pointing to the left).

Andrew Breitbart published the photo and evidence began to emerge that it was likely Weiner who posted the picture though he still held firm to his hacked story.

Then, a person sent pictures to Breitbart and said they were from Weiner. Breitbart has been publishing the less risque ones throughout the day. Breitbart claims to have an X-Rated picture that he has no intention of publishing (thank you).

Now back to the press conference. After a week of denials and attacks on Breitbart (with claims he was the hacker) and after a week of the left wing blogosphere defending Weiner, he admitted today that he was the one who sent the original photo. Weiner went further in saying that there were other pictures out there and that though most of them were sent before he was married, some were sent after. He stated that he would not resign and that it was up to his constituents to decide if he should stay in office (though I think Democrat leadership might have something to say about it).

Weiner was not as gracious toward Mark Foley when his scandal broke and neither was Nancy Pelosi who, though silent now, was all over the affront to women everywhere when Foley was caught in his sex scandal. The reality is, if Weiner were a Republican he would be getting bashed by the political left and their writers in the Main Stream Media. These people would be going nonstop until he resigned.

But Weiner is a Democrat and Democrats don’t have problems with sex scandals and lewd behavior so long as it is their fellow Democrats involved. When Republicans are involved their righteous indignation fills the air.

There are people who I have no problem watching while they are having problems like this. Weiner is not one of them. I do not care for him or his politics but I felt sorry for him while he was giving his press conference. I think I have more compassion for him than he showed toward Foley but in the world of politics things are different.

I think resignation is something he has to decide but I would like him held to the same standard as he and his fellow Democrats have held Republicans to. If it was all about the culture of corruption when Foley was on the hot seat then it should be nothing less with Weiner. His fellow Democrats should go after him with the same vigor they pursued Foley.

But that, of course, is wishful thinking. Weiner will be treated more like Barney Frank and Bill Clinton and less like Foley because he is a Democrat.

And the sad thing is he will probably (if he is still around) get reelected. At least he will offer some stiff competition.

The coverup was much worse than the crime. If he had come forward and said he sent a prank photo to someone and it was inadvertently sent to all of twitter but he took it down when he realized then he would have been the subject of ridicule for a few days and something else would occupy the thoughts of people around the country, Instead, he lied about it and blamed it on some unknown hacker and then he allowed his minions to go after Breitbart, who happened to be 100% right the entire time.

Now that he has brought this upon himself there will be a lot more photos that emerge as more folks come out of the woodwork and if some of those photos are vulgar then he is toast. Let’s face it, Breitbart might not publish the vulgar ones but someone will.

And the sad thing is that there were people defending him all last week and some of them will continue to make him the victim…

**LATE BREAKING: Pelosi will call for ethics probe (funny word there) to determine if Weiner used government resources. Decision on future will be up to him and constituents. He really backed her into a corner on this one…

Copyright © 2012 Blake. This is the beginning of our Declaration of Independence, one of the seminal documents of the past three centuries regarding government and its powers and limitations over the people government presides over. The other major document, The Constitution, delineates the powers and the limits of those powers the government may impose.

One of the rights the Constitution provides is Freedom of Speech- a “right” the Iranians are really trying to exercise, through networking, the Facebook and MySpace sites, twitter, and text messaging. Because the Iranian government is a totalitarian regime, and seeks to control their people, they have been busy censoring these various messaging mediums as soon as they can.

Luckily for the Iranians, this is tantamount to plugging holes in a dyke with a finger- it won’t hold for long before another hole springs up.

These people are truly brave- here in our country, if you protest, you might be called a bad name- there, you might be shot, or worse. What’s worse than being shot? Would you really want to know first hand? I doubt it- I know that I would not, but these people risk worse than being shot just by protesting their governments stolen election.

Shortly after Neda Agha-Soltan bled her life out on the Tehran pavement, the man whose 40-second video of her death has ricocheted around the world made a somber calculation in what has become the cat-and-mouse game of evading Iran’s censors. He knew that the government had been blocking Web sites like YouTube andFacebook. Trying to send the video there could have exposed him and his family.

Instead, he e-mailed the two-megabyte video to a nearby friend, who quickly forwarded it to the Voice of America, the newspaper The Guardian in London and five online friends in Europe, with a message that read, “Please let the world know.” It was one of those friends, an Iranian expatriate in the Netherlands, who posted it on Facebook, weeping as he did so, he recalled.

nytimes.com

Yep, these Iranian thugs of the government would have gone after not only the people texting and taking videos, but also their families. What a free and fair government they are. This is stifling free speech on a grand scale, over the little matter of a stolen election. Jimmy Carter would have said it was a fair and free election, but Iran is one country where he has not the fortitude to travel to, even if they would let him.

What is truly disheartening, is the fact that despite all of Hussein’s high and mighty rhetoric on freedoms that he espoused in Cairo, there has not been a statement coming from the White House that could be said to even remotely have a spine to it.

I understand that Hussein has a calculating mind, but it seems that he wants the current regime to stay in power, thus the limp- wristed commentary he has issued. Perhaps he has more in common with the current dictators than first appears to meet the eye. I hope not, but there could be at least a statement of solidarity with all who seek freedom- but nooooooo.

At least the Internet, and all its permutations, make free speech more possible, and not less so, and this is a good thing- now, if only the President might use his personal bully pulpit, employ his freedom of speech, and at least get his butt off of the fence long enough to say something substantial about a peoples struggle for freedom.

Perhaps he could use his powers to Twitter.
Perez Hilton used that word to describe a singer named Wil.i.am after the singer told Hilton not to write about his music on his [Hilton's] website. A manager socked Hilton in the face.

Since Hilton is gay I assume he figured it was OK to use that word much like it is OK for blacks to use the N word but anyone else who does is a racist.

Most normal people who were assaulted and needed either the police or medical attention (it is not clear if Hilton needed medical attention) would call an emergency number either 911 or which ever is in use where they happen to be.

Hilton decided to Twitter about the incident:

Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, complained about the incident on the microblogging site Twitter. He tweeted at 4 a.m.: “I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No joke.” Breitbart

If this moron needed the police then why did he Twitter instead of calling them? He was Tweeting to people that he was bleeding and he seriously needed the police. Here is a clue for the moron, stop Tweeting and call the police. What did he think would happen after he Tweeted? Did he think that the people on Twitter from all over the world would know where he was and call the police for him?

He kept from getting his rear end kicked by Carrie Prejean by calling her a “bitch” on a video at his website instead of to her face. He must have been worried that she would have slapped him around. He evidently did not keep that thought in mind when he insulted a man face to face.

Evidently Hilton was not struck hard enough because he used Twitter. He should have been hit so hard that when he awakened it was a new decade.

Then we could have read Tweets about him being in a coma.
