A Paying For Problem Is A Spending Problem

Congressman Steny Hoyer, a moron from Maryland, said that the country does not have a spending problem; it has a “paying for problem.” Yes, this moron actually said this. He might be right depending on the definition of spending because it seems there is no problem when it comes to that task. The problem is spending too much.

We have a paying for problem because we spend more than we have. In Hoyer’s limited ability to comprehend, we only have a problem because government has not confiscated more of our money to pay for the spending. You see, if only they could steal more from us, then there would be no problem.

If you had little or no money and went out and bought something on credit and then coul not pay for it what would be the root of your problem? Would it be a paying for problem (yes, you definitely have that if you can’t pay your bill0 or would the root cause be that you spent money you knew you did not have?

[note]When you have a paying for problem it is because you have a spending problem. If you don’t spend too much you won’t have a problem paying the bills.[/note]

Hoyer also took his obligatory shot at George Bush and Republicans:

Well, we spent a lot of money when George Bush was president of the United States in the House and Senate were controlled by Republicans. We spent a lot of money. Real Clear Politics

George Bush was responsible for four trillion dollars in increased debt in eight years. Obama is responsible for a six trillion dollar increase in four years. It is time to stop blaming Bush for the past and focus on the failures of the present guy and his band of merry morons.

Steny put on your big boy pants and start accepting responsibility. Perhaps you can talk to the members of your party in the Senate and find out why they have failed to pass a budget for the last four years. There is a little thing called a law that mandates them to do so.

I am sure I am wasting my time because Hoyer is not a very smart guy. I am surprised they let him out in public without one of those safety helmets on.

Steny, I will type this slowly for you. The US takes in lots and lots of money each year. You guys keep spending more than that. Perhaps you all can focus on things that will get the economy going again and millions of people can get jobs. Then they can pay taxes and solve your alleged paying for problem.

Keep in mind that no matter how good the economy is we always (absent accounting gimmicks) run deficits. Even the alleged Clinton surplus actually ran a deficit.

You can make anything look good on paper.

The only thing Clinton balanced was his marriage and his affair and that, like his math, failed.

I am glad that Hoyer is not my representative. I would not want to have to communicate with him as it would lower my IQ.

Is This Really Good News?

The month of April showed a surplus of money at the federal government for the first time in three years. Big Deal!

April is the month where all our taxes are due for the last year. By April 15th we have to pay what we owe to the federal government. The April Tax Day receipts usually bring more money to the government. The only difference between this year and the last three is that this year the taxes paid resulted in us having more money than we spent.

This is an election year and right now we do not have all the Obama spending plans being pushed through like they were over the last three years. And even with this surplus for the month the nation is set to exceed a trillion dollars in deficit for the year. This trillion dollar a year deficit (really more than a trillion) is an Obama pattern that has not been broken even with the surplus.

Our government spends too much money. It is involved in too many things that it has no business being involved in and it has become the nanny state providing for everyone. We spend more on welfare programs than any other budget items and the government continues to take on things that cost taxpayers heavily.

Our government has been on nanny state overdrive since Obama became our “Dear Leader” and if he is reelected he will continue to spend like there is no tomorrow.

And if Obama is at the helm it is likely there will be no tomorrow.

As an aside, there is a story out of Boston that schools will be banning bake sales. Obesity is a problem and the smarter than you school officials think that selling baked goods (and other fundraiser junk like pizzas and candy) is bad for people. Leave it to government to prevent folks from being self sufficient.

Anyway, the school system brains claim that they are concerned about the health of the children (it is always about the children) and that children deserve a chance at a good, long healthy life (as if gubmint is the only one that can make that possible).

I think what they are really saying is that the debt of the government belongs to our children and grandchildren. We need them to be healthy and live long lives so they can pay the bills our government is racking up.

Next month we will be back on the deficit train though I would not be surprised to see the books cooked here as they are with unemployment.

Democrats need to get their messiah reelected.

Reid Pulls His Monster Bill

The 1900 page Omnibus bill that would fund government for another year has been pulled by Senate Leader Harry Reid. The bill contained over 6000 earmarks (from members of both parties) and the total cost of the bill was 1.3 TRILLION DOLLARS. Reid pulled the bill after several Republicans (in name only) who had earlier supported it, withdrew their support. This is a blow to the Democrats who had hoped to go out with a bang.

This bill has been in the works for nearly half a year. The Congress is supposed to pass a budget and it did not so we are down to the last minute of the game and they are still playing around.

Reid put together a bill that included Republican earmarks requested before the election and added them to the bill. Some Republicans who did not get the message from the last election were working behind the scenes to get the things passed but were silent about them publicly. As the details unfolded some of the Republicans began to get uncomfortable in supporting the HUGE spending bill. Some Democrats in the Senate who will be up for reelection in two years are feeling the same heat.

Anyway, Harry Reid pulled the bill because he knows that he will have a hard time getting support. He is working on a short term extension of government funding to take us into the new year and then the new Congress will work on it. This does not mean that Democrats (and some Republicans) will not be working to lard up anything that makes its way through so they can take home the bacon this Christmas.

We need to be on the lookout and prepared to call them out.

This, so far, is a win. We cannot afford the 1.3 TRILLION DOLLARS the bill spends and we cannot afford to let the people who were voted out of office decide how things will be run when they are gone.

And liberals, if Reid and the Democrats had done this when they were supposed to we would not be discussing it now. This is part of that crisis management that the Dems are known for. Never let one go to waste you know. So they take it to the wire and figure they will hold the country hostage. Surely the Republicans will have to budge when backs are against the wall.

It did not work out like that this time.

And it can only get better in the new Congress…

The Check Is In The Mail

The federal government is running a huge deficit and the national debt is more than 12 trillion dollars. The interest on that debt is expected to exceed 700 billion dollars a year or 500 billion more than last year. The interest on our debt is half a trillion dollars more than a year ago.

To put this in perspective, the NYT points out:

In concrete terms, an additional $500 billion a year in interest expense would total more than the combined federal budgets this year for education, energy, homeland security and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Our interest on debt is more than several budget items including both wars. When liberals tell you how much money there would be without the wars remind them how much more there would be if we did not have to pay nearly three quarters of a trillion dollars in interest (half a trillion more than last year).

The government is about to have a triple whammy in the not too distant future as Democrats under Obama rack up tremendous new debt, short term borrowing that comes due in the next few months and interest rates that will go up after this fabricated emergency passes.

Obama said he will halve the deficit by the end of his first (and I hope only) term but this will be nearly impossible. Look for him to blame Bush.

Americans are saving more but are still saddled with a lot of personal debt from years of care free credit buying. Many were devastated because they foolishly bought houses they could not afford and are now in real financial trouble. Unfortunately, the people with these kinds of problems are no different than our government which continues to spend as if there is no tomorrow.

Might not be if they don’t get a handle on it.

But that will mean raising taxes on everyone not just those who already pay almost all the taxes. Yes, as hard as it is to believe the so called tax cuts for the rich better helped those in the middle class as the wealthy already pay nearly all the taxes in this country.

But that will change if Obama wants to reduce the debt because there is simply not enough money available from the rich to take care of the problem. If we took 100% of their money we would still not be out of trouble. The money will have to come from everyone so those of you who believed Hopenchange when he said he would not tax you, you are in for a surprise.

He cannot reduce the debt without taxing you so he either lied about reducing it or he lied about taxing you.

Either way, he ran up the debt and the bill will come due.

How’s that Hope and Change working out for you now?
