States Want A Bailout

The Democrats like to say never let a crisis go to waste. That is particularly true with regard to the Corona Virus. Democrats have used it to impose authoritarian rule, to limit what people can do and to ignore the US Constitution.
This crisis, if you want to call it that, has demonstrated that states were woefully unprepared for the pandemic. It is the responsibility of the states to have plans in place and to have adequate supplies for the beginning of a problem. The federal government is there to provide help to hot spots and coordinate movement of items among the states. It has bulk supplies to supplement the ones the states are supposed to have. As an aside, it is also the responsibility of hospitals to have supplies and plans in place.
When these things occur there is a fouled up response and then they have meetings, blue ribbon panels meet and they come up with plans to “ensure this never happens again” and then they put the plans in a drawer and the next time there is an emergency it happens again. And each time they encroach on our liberties.
Now it looks like these liberals are going to use this emergency (or try) to take more of our money. All these states that were screaming about being in control and not having the feds run their show are now saying they will need BILLIONS of our tax dollars to recover from the pandemic. If you think they mean to recover from Corona related items you are only partly correct. These liberals (and no doubt a few RINOs) want the federal government to pay for failing pension systems, budget shortfalls and billions of dollars worth of other shortcomings that states have had for years.
The Democrats in Congress are all on board making bold statements that the next stimulus (you know I hate stimulus packages) will include money for states to make their public sector pensions whole. There are plans to include money in the recovery to help states pay off debt including debt that was there BEFORE COVID-19. New York was 7 Billion in debt prior to the outbreak. Under the ideas floated by the Democrats, this debt would be paid off by the federal government as part of a stimulus package.
Why exactly should we pay the debt of the states? How is it the states can scream they have rights and the feds need to butt out (all very correct) and then say we need you to pay our bills, past and present? I hate stimulus packages but if the feds are going to take money from workers in each state then some of that needs to go back to the state to make things whole BUT only things that are a direct result of COVID-19.
States are already inflating COVID death numbers to get higher reimbursements. Now they expect the feds to pay all their bills, cancel out all their debt and make them whole again. I do not see that as being the way to go. States are responsible for the pensions of their public sector employees so they need to make those systems whole. Perhaps they should use this crisis as an opportunity to pare down those lucrative pension plans.
Fortunately, Mitch McConnell says that he and most Republicans will not be on board with bailing out the states. He says they might want to consider filing for bankruptcy. I agree 100%. States can pay their own bills or they can file for protection.
Keep in mind, government has the ability to tax you to death (and after you die) so in the long run you will pay for this. If your state has to foot its own bills it will raise taxes (and they will never go back down) or impose new ones (and they will never go away) to pay the bills. States are looking for the easy way out by spreading their misery to all the other states. It is important to remember if the feds pay the bill the federal taxes will need to be raised in order to pay the bills so everyone pays even if they are in a fiscally responsible state.
I am not in favor of paying the bills of the states. I am all for as little government as possible. Government has gotten too big and has imposed tyranny on us in the face of another “crisis”. We need to put an end to this mess. We are speeding toward 25 TRILLION dollars in debt and members of Congress and the leaders (or so called leaders) in the states are stomping down on the throttle.
And they are doing that because they will be dead long before their malfeasance destroys the nation. All of them are old and they will be dead before the mess they are causing has any affect. They will not be bothered by it so they do not care.
But your grandchildren will. Do not allow these cretins to further destroy our nation.

How Many Of Them Actually Pay Taxes?

Some chucklehead at Time Magazine (does anyone even read that thing) named Mark Weston is very unhappy that Hillary Clinton allegedly won the popular vote but did not win the presidency. He, like most liberals, is upset that we use the Electoral College system and quite honestly, from his remarks, he does not understand it. Like most liberals he does not understand what kind of nation we are and how elections work.
So this guy is calling for all Hillary supporters to NOT pay federal taxes until the nation changes to a popular vote scheme. He wants people to figure out what they would owe but to write a check to an escrow type account that would be released to the feds once they change how we elect presidents.
Weston is unhappy because he thinks Hillary won the popular vote and should be president. He wants our “democracy” restored. His statements show a complete lack of knowledge.
The first thing is we are not a democracy. In a democracy 50% plus one gets to tell everyone else how things should be. So in a true democracy 50% plus one could vote that the rest of the nation has to work and give all their money up to the majority to spend as it pleases. We have a representative form of government where people are represented by those elected officials and each state in the union has a say in the process. Weston wants the very small land mass of densely packed people that Hillary won to be able to tell the rest of us how things will be. He wants all the rest of us in the vast land mass that Trump won to be under the rule of a few places. He does not want us to have a say in the process.
Weston says that the people should not pay their taxes because they are taxed without representation. His claim is that Hillary won the popular vote and these people are not represented because Trump won the presidency. First of all, he and all others are represented because they have an elected official in their Congressional District and two Senators who represent them at the federal level. The President is not your representation, your Congress critters are. Hell, if we could elect not to pay taxes based on the idea that if the person you did not vote for the presidency won half the nation would never pay taxes.
Let us look at this other claim. Hillary won the popular vote. No, she did not. Hillary won some of the popular votes and Trump won the others. You see, we do not have one great big national election. We have 51 individual elections (50 states and DC) and in nearly every state the winner of the popular vote in that state gets all the Electoral Votes for the state (some states allot them proportionally or by Congressional District). The states do not have to have elections to select the electors so there is no requirement that the people even be allowed to vote to select them. Each state is allowed to decide how the electors are selected. The states have decided on a popular vote (and that vote is PER STATE).
So it is a non argument to say Hillary won the popular vote because we do not have a popular vote nationwide. The only thing the nationwide total shows is that Hillary’s total of the number of people who voted, when ALL of the INDIVIDUAL STATE elections are added up, is more than the number of people who voted for Donald Trump. But that does not matter because Trump won enough of the popular votes in states to capture enough electors to be president.
Liberals like to keep repeating things that are not true so that they can brainwash followers into believing things that just are not so. If you listen to a Hillary supporter spout off you will hear the mindless parroting of talking points that are not true but have been repeated so often that the liberal drones believe them. This is why so many of them think we have a national popular vote, the Electoral College is outdated, that Hillary won and was robbed and that we are a democracy. They keep hearing it so they begin to believe it (this is why so many liberals think the Second Amendment only applies to the militia).
The reality is our system is set up in such a fashion that each state has a say in the matter. We are not ruled by the tyrannical majority in a few densely populated areas. We all get a say in it and we do it because each state has its OWN election. Hillary did not win the popular vote and she did not win the presidency so crying about it won’t change that. Refusing to pay your taxes will not change it either.
How many of the folks in question actually pay taxes? Her rich donors certainly figure out how to pay less and the millennials and college kids probably don’t make enough to pay anything. Add them to the welfare rolls and felons who voted and it is unlikely that we are talking about a huge amount in tax money. Hell, if we stopped paying the welfare to those who fall into the category Weston describes we might be able to have a net increase.
I know it is tough Mr. Weston but you are very wrong. Get a real book and undo the damage your college professors caused.
And get used to saying it:
President Donald Trump.

Don’t Get Bern’d

Bernie Sanders is running a radio spot in Maryland where he talks about the big banks. He claims those banks are responsible (their irresponsible polices and lending practices) for the economic downturn in 2008, the worst since the Great Depression. He says they were deemed too big to fail so they received taxpayer bailouts and now many of them are even bigger than they were when they were too big to fail.
Bernie vows that he will break up the banks and he will make them follow the rules and ensure they pay their fair share.
[note]As an aside, Bernie loves to talk about people paying their fair share but he wrote off over $60,000 on his taxes and paid an effective rate around 13%. He used all the methods he rails against to ensure he paid lower taxes. If taxes are so wonderful, as he claims, then why does he take all the deductions? Shouldn’t he practice what he wants to put in place?[/note]
Bernie is spewing the old Democrat line about the banks causing the problem. The real reason we had an economic collapse is that Democrats, like Bernie, forced banks to give mortgages to people who could not possibly pay them. He and others in his party forced the banks to lend the money and the banks bundled those loans and sold them. When all these unworthy debtors failed to pay the mortgages the banks were forced to give the system went belly-up. It statred with the Community Reinvestment Act under Jimmy Carter.
George Bush warned at least a dozen times that the system was in danger because of it but Democrat after Democrat testified that the system was sound.
Then in 2008 it collapsed and the Democrats started blaming the banks. Those banks, by the way, were forced to take bailouts. Yes, the government forced banks to take the money whether they needed it or not.
People like Sanders are telling lies and playing the typical Wall Street and banks are bad game to gin up voters. Bernie is pushing even more spending that we can’t afford (free college blah, blah) and that will result in another economic time bomb.
The system is falling apart because of liberal/progressive/socialist policies that Bernie is all too happy to push.
We do not need this joker running the country.
We also do not need Monica Lewinsky’s ex boyfriend’s wife running it either.
Both of them are part of the problem. They are the reason we had a collapse, no matter what lies they tell.
So ignore Bernie and what’s her name and vote for someone who can clean up the mess created by liberals.

It Is A Spending Problem

The United States has a published debt of 19 TRILLION dollars. This does not include the 100 TRILLION or so in unfunded liabilities that we cannot possibly hope to pay for. The government wants us to believe that it needs to tax us more so it can pay for these things. They would have us believe that there is nothing they can do unless we pay more because this is what it costs to run government.
Barack Obama and his regime have added nearly 10 TRILLION dollars to the debt which means, by his own definition, he is unpatriotic.
The problem is not that the government does not extort enough from us. The reality is the government takes far more than it needs to accomplish its CONSTITUTIONAL responsibilities. The problem is our government has gotten itself involved in all kinds of things for which it has no authority and no responsibility. Social programs are the bulk of the government despite the fact there is no authority for them in the Constitution. The Constitution clearly defines the role of the government and what it has authority over. Those authorities do not include health care, education, welfare, college and many other items too numerous to mention.
The bottom line is we spend too much. The federal government took in a record amount of tax revenue in the first part of this year and still managed to spend over 400 BILLION more than what it received. IT IS OUT OF CONTROL AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL SPENDING that is causing the problem.
We now have people running for the presidency who want to add even more debt to the ledger. Bernie Sanders wants to give away everything for free (by free he means other taxpayers foot the bill) and Hillary Clinton wants to add another TRILLION dollars to the budget (for more unconstitutional spending) and pay for it by increasing taxes ONE TRILLION dollars (likely more).
This must stop. All the ancient politicians in DC will be dead and gone when the ticking time bomb they set off explodes and causes the collapse of our nation. They and their families have profited quite nicely by gaming the system and then they will die off while the rest of us suffer the consequences.
We need to reduce the size of our government and end ALL unconstitutional spending and we need to do it yesterday.
You might think it is all free and the rich can pay or we can tax our way out of it but that thought would be wrong.
And when the SHTF the leeches thinking such thoughts will be the first to suffer and the first go.

The Apple Does Not Fall Far

Barack Obama is a big government big brother liberal progressive left wing fanatic who believes in government control over the lives of private citizens. He was raised by communists, studied and uses Rules for Radicals, and he violates the Constitution nearly every day. In short, he is un-American and the kind of person the Constitution was designed to stop.
There is a case before the court right now dealing with an Apple iPhone that was used by a few terrorists who shot up San Bernardino. It seems the feds are unable to crack the encryption on the phone, a claim I find preposterous, so the FBI wants Apple to write the code to crack the phone. The problem is, the code would affect all iPhones and make it easier for the government to demand a phone be accessed in the future.
[note]Maybe Obama should ask the Chinese or the Russians to get the data from the phone. These countries seem to be able to hack into our government on a regular basis. Better yet, maybe the government should ask Apple to teach it electronic security…[/note]
I doubt the issue at hand is the phone itself. I am sure the highly paid people at the FBI (or perhaps the NSA) could get into the phone. I mean, are we really supposed to believe that the same government hacking into systems all over the world can’t get into a phone? No, this is about setting precedence that would force companies to build backdoors into devices that government could use when it wanted to obtain data.
Obama recently made his views known when he discussed the issue. He believes that PRIVATE companies should not be able to build items government cannot access. That is the basic idea behind what Obama said. Now he laced it with sugar coating by discussing child pornography and such things because, well no one could oppose such common sense things.
Then he got to the real reason. You see, government needs to access your electronic items so it can be certain you are paying your taxes. Obama thinks that without the ability to access phones people will be walking around with Swiss bank accounts right on their devices.
As if most people have the ability to get one. But the rich certainly have them (I would not be surprised to find out many politicians had them) though I suspect they would not be foolish enough to keep that info on their phones.
While Obama thinks no citizen should have absolute privacy he carries an electronic device paid for by the taxpayers that has all kinds of encryption on it to keep it from being hacked. And while Obama thinks government should have the ability to access your information he certainly supports YOU going to jail for accessing anything held on the government’s electronic media.
They work for us but they act like they own us. Their information is very important to them so much so that Hillary Clinton set up a home brew server to route all her communications through other than government channels.
Instead of worrying about some citizen keeping a Swiss bank account on a cell phone perhaps Obama should concern himself with government officials who are hiding their misdeeds from the public.
People have a right to privacy and that right should not be infringed upon because the government can’t access data it wants. But if the court agrees with government and allows this violation of our rights perhaps we should be afforded the opportunity to redact things before they get to see them.
You know, just like they do when citizens request information…
The apple does not fall far from the tree and in the case of Obama it is a rotten apple that fell from the tree of communism.
