Second Amendment Sanctuary Counties

Several counties in Oregon have passed their own regulations regarding firearms and those regulations are in reaction to the gun control laws Oregon passed (Oregon Firearms Safety Act). The counties are basically saying they will not comply with state law and that they will do things their own way.

The state has supremacy in this issue and it will get dicey but the counties are saying they are Second Amendment Sanctuary Counties. They point out the state is a sanctuary state for illegal immigrants and if the state can ignore the law and be a sanctuary for that issue then the counties can ignore the state law and be sanctuary for firearms owners.

This seems perfectly reasonable to me and I can’t see how a state that ignores the law can be upset that a county has ignored a law. I do understand that liberals think they are the only ones who can ignore the law and that laws only apply to the other guy but that is just their senility showing.

If we are forced to accept that it is legal to have a sanctuary city or state for illegal immigrants then we must accept that sanctuary can be granted by any city or state (or county) for any reason.

In Oregon the liberals want to provide sanctuary for illegal aliens in violation of the Constitution and federal law. The counties want to provide sanctuary for firearms owners IN ACCORDANCE with the Constitution. Funny how following the Constitution is alien to liberals. They sure try to use the Constitution when they want to make their case though. Does anyone see the irony of this statement coming from a sanctuary state?

These county ordinances allow sheriffs to ignore this law – which gun advocates see as unconstitutional. KTVZ

The concern of the liberals in Oregon, who obviously do not understand the Constitution or firearms, is that people get hurt with guns. The largest number of people harmed with firearms is those who commit suicide. The linked article makes it clear that suicides account for the largest number of gun related deaths in Oregon.

The state is worried that someone might buy a gun and use it to kill himself. If a person decided to do that then he only harmed one person (physically) and that would be himself. If any person can’t get a gun then another way to commit suicide will be found.

The funny thing is Oregon has a Death with Dignity Act that allows doctor assisted suicide. So if you are terminally ill you can get a doctor to help you off yourself but if you just want to die you can’t shoot yourself. I guess the state does not want you taking money out of the hands of suicide doctors.

In any event, this Oregon case is just another in a long line of hypocrisies liberals are known for. Add the sanctuary for illegals but not gun owners up there with abortion is OK but the death penalty is murder.

Liberalism is a mental disorder.

Robin Williams Did Not End The Pain

‘Cause suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
…and you can do the same thing if you please.

~Song from M*A*S*H (Suicide Is Painless)

Actor and comedian Robin Williams took his own life yesterday and a lot of people are talking about how tragic it was and how tortured he must have been. There are tributes from many who see the result as a given since he struggled with addiction and depression.

Robin Williams is like many others who took the decision to end their lives. He thought it would end the pain and suffering. Well it might have ended Williams’ pain and suffering but it inflicted pain and suffering on the loved ones he left behind.

It gave those loved ones grief they did not want and grief they did not need. Williams’ act burdened people not only with the sadness that comes from the loss of a loved one it burdened them with feelings of guilt, feelings of helplessness and feelings of confusion.

Contrary to the refrain of the Theme from MASH, suicide is NOT painless. It causes untold amounts of pain to those left behind.

“It brings on many changes”

While it is difficult to understand the thought process of those who are driven to consider, attempt or succeed in suicide one thing is undeniable, it is a selfish act. No doubt that it is an act of desperation but it is selfish nonetheless. It might relieve the pain of the person who successfully takes his own life but that solution disregards the feelings of those left behind. It disregards how the act will affect them. The person who commits suicide is only concerned with how he will be relived of pain and thinks little of how much pain it will cause.

This is not to minimize the turmoil that goes on in the minds of those who contemplate such a final act. Those folks are in a lot of pain and need help but their solution is one of their own choosing. They decide to act on suicidal ideations and they can decide not to act as well.

As the songs states; “I can take or leave it if I please.”

[note]Matt Walsh has an excellent post up describing how Williams did not die from a disease but from a choice and how those saying he is now at peace or in a better place might be encouraging others to carry out suicide plans.[/note]

Williams’ suicide is getting a lot of attention because he was a celebrity but everyday members of our armed forces (or veterans) commit suicide and little mention of it occurs. Every day people around the world commit suicide and while they cause as much pain for their loved ones as Williams caused for his they are not the focus of attention. They are just another statistic.

I hope that Williams’ death will bring attention to suicide and prevention strategies and I hope that those who think it is the final answer will see how awful the impact is on those left behind to search for answers.

If you are considering suicide I ask that you call the suicide Lifeline and get help. Talk to your loved ones, your therapist or clergy. Talk to anyone but talk and get help.

Remember, suicide is not painless. It causes pain for those left behind.

And you CAN LEAVE it if you please.

The key is to find a reason to live rather than a reason to die…

Obama’s Teleprompter Commits Suicide

It is no secret that Barack Obama uses his teleprompter as a crutch. He needs it to stay on message because when he goes freestyle he says things he does not want people to hear. The teleprompter has been with him through the last six months and has heard nearly every speech he has made. It has also heard all the practice runs of those speeches.

I know that I have had my fill of listening to him so I can only imagine how horrible it must have been for the teleprompter, or TOTUS, as it is called.

Today was too much for the poor TOTUS so during a speech Obama gave the TOTUS jumped off its stand and committed suicide. The death was instant as the TOTUS shattered into a bunch of little pieces when it hit the floor.

Obama expressed brief sadness by exclaiming “Oh Goodness!” and then continued with his speech. The TOTUS’s twin brother was able to resist the urge to jump and guided Obama through the balance of the speech.

Asked to comment after the speech, TOTUS II said that his brother had been under a great deal of pressure to make Obama sound good and that the strain had been evident as he malfunctioned for Joe Biden and Mrs. Obama in recent speeches. TOTUS said that he knew it was only a matter of time before his brother went to pieces.

Funeral services will begin tomorrow at noon at a local glass factory after which TOTUS will be recycled into a toilet bowl, a fixture more fitting for what Obama has been spreading.

A plaque above the toilet bowl will read:

Here lies the reincarnation of TOTUS
A fixture that put words in Obama’s mouth
Considering what Obama has been spewing
We needed a place to ralph
