What Can Brown Do For You?

Not much.

Scott Brown, the Massachusetts Senator who ran to oppose Obamacare and add another allegedly conservative voice to DC, is now considering a run for the White House. Brown was elected and had no impact on the Obamacare vote because the Senate played games with the vote which effectively negated Brown’s vote.

In any event, Brown was defeated by Lie-A-Watha Elizabeth Warren and is now a former Senator from Massachusetts.

Brown is not a conservative and his time in the Senate was more of a moderate, RINO, love fest. He played middle of the road to left of center in his dealings in the Senate and now he wants to be the moderate candidate in the 2016 presidential sweepstakes.

I imagine Brown is basing his desires on the teachings from the book Great Moderates in History. Oh wait, no such book exists.

Sitting on the fence and failing to have firm convictions is not what the country needs. We need a solid conservative to lead this nation away from progressivism and out of the doldrums that started under Bush (and the democratically controlled Congress) and have continued under B. Hussein Obama.

Scott Brown says he wants an inclusive and tolerant party. The GOP is already such a party as no one is barred from being in the so called big tent. What we do not need are politicians who pander to people just so they will be included. People need to come to the party because it offers real solutions not feel good bunk and rhetoric about being everything to everyone.

If Brown wants that environment then he should consider changing to the Democrat Party.

Conservatives (note I did not specifically say Republicans) are happy to welcome everyone. But people have to want to come because they believe in responsibility, self reliance and the Constitution.

Not because someone says what they want to hear while handing them free phones and food stamps paid for by those who are working AND paying taxes.

No, we do not need Scott Brown. He could not beat Fauxcahauntas in Massachusetts and he will not win a national election.

The Republican Party needs a solid conservative, not a moderate go along to get along RINO.

We had those in the past few elections and because of that we have King Obama and his band of jesters destroying the country.

Brown seems like a nice guy and has a big heart but he is a moderate who supports the Massachusetts version of Obamacare and a ban on certain firearms (inappropriately named assault weapons). He is not the answer to the nation’s problems and should stick with being a lawyer (or modeling) instead of trying to be president.

Cave canem!
Never surrender, never submit.

Patrick Kennedy Might Need More Rehab

Patrick Kennedy, US Congressman and member of the elitist, drug, alcohol, and woman abusing, Kennedy clan is a little upset that Scott Brown actually wanted to be seated sooner rather than later. Brown has waited the requisite 10 days and he should not have to wait longer but Kennedy did not see it that way:

Kennedy (D-R.I.) told The Hill’s Blog Briefing Room on Thursday, “Brown’s whole candidacy was shown to be a joke today when he was sworn in early in order to cast his first vote as an objection to Obama’s appointment to the (National Labor Relations Board).” Boston Herald

Was shown to be a joke? I guess to Democrats when a Republican wins by a healthy margin it is a joke but when a Democrat (say Obama) wins by a healthy margin it is a mandate to change the entire country and impose Socialism.

The funny thing is that Brown waited the required amount of time and the rest was an obvious attempt at stalling and what is even funnier is that Kennedy called this a joke even though his father, Ted Kennedy, was sworn in the day after he won election to a seat that was preserved for him.

Of course the idea that an everyday guy like Brown won is beyond reason for the Kennedys who buy political seats and then use them to impose their will on the rest of us. That is, when they are not out getting drunk or drugged and hurting or killing people.

Patrick Kennedy will be lucky to get reelected this year. His daddy is worm dirt and he has no one to protect him. He has had several stints in rehab and has a few accidents while impaired along the way. People are not too interested in putting him back in office.

No, the days of substance abusing Kennedys in office being chic are over and Camelot was buried along with Teddy.

The real joke is that Patrick Kennedy is in office and that people reelected Ted for so many terms. All one needs to do is read the writing on the wall.

Then again it is hard to see much through bloodshot eyes.

Scott Brown responded to Kennedy and demonstrated what class and leadership look like.

See Ted Kennedy get smacked around.

Obama: You Were Right About My Plan

The Democrats came within a whisker of passing the health care takeover plan and would have succeeded if Scott Brown had not won the Senate seat in Massachusetts. The backroom deals that certainly involved Obama were all wrapped up and the Democrats, who figured they would win in Massachusetts, were ready to pass the plan one way or another. The Brown win stopped that for now.

For nearly a year we have been saying that the plan will not allow people to keep their health care if they like it and that there were other things in there that Obama promised would not be. When he spoke to Republicans in Baltimore he admitted that what he promised was not in that bill actually was:

If you look at the package that we’ve presented — and there’s some stray cats and dogs that got in there that we were eliminating, we were in the process of eliminating. For example, we said from the start that it was going to be important for us to be consistent in saying to people if you can have your — if you want to keep the health insurance you got, you can keep it, that you’re not going to have anybody getting in between you and your doctor in your decision making. And I think that some of the provisions that got snuck in might have violated that pledge.” [emphasis mine] Ace of Spades

Obama was ready to sign the bill as soon as it hit his desk and Democrats were working against the clock to get it to him before his State of the Union Address so he could do just that. There is no way that Obama would have vetoed the bill. In other words, he would have signed it with the provisions that were “snuck” in there.

There is also no doubt that Obama knew that this was in the bill. He is now admitting what we knew all along.

They have been dishonest and worked hard to ram this down our throats. We have the people of Massachusetts to thank for derailing this process, at least for now.

The Democrats are dishonest and they knew exactly what they were doing. They want to control our lives and they will lie, cheat, and steal to do so.

The big question is, if this item that violated a pledge was “snuck” in there how many other items that violated promises were “snuck” in there?

For nearly a year we were told that we were exaggerating the details or misleading people. It is now evident that Obama and the Democrats were the ones being dishonest.

They need to scrap this entire bill, work on the economy and come back to health care when people are back to work.

And when they come back they need common sense solutions that address the small portion of the population that is uninsured, make it more affordable for the rest of us (with free market solutions) and keep government out of our lives.

Obama In Trouble, Panders To Middle Class

Still feeling the heat from the stinging loss in Massachusetts, Barack Obama will pander to the middle class in an attempt to get people to realign with his priorities. The first thing he will do is ask for a three year spending freeze on a very small part of the federal budget. This is in response to mounting concerns among voters regarding out of control spending. Remember, Obama was going to go line by line and cut out the waste.

Instead, he has signed bills, including the stimulus, loaded with pork. He has yet to go through and cut wasteful spending. Count that as another promise broken.

The idea for a freeze would be a start if it were not a ruse. The agencies that will be frozen have already seen budget increases as high as 50% so a freeze means little. They are being frozen at a high level of funding. In order to bring things under control the budget needs to be cut and Obama can start by going line by line as he promised.

The next thing he will do, which will be officially disclosed at the State of the Union Address, is to enact (or expand) programs for the middle class. Obama is expected to introduce the following:

-Nearly doubling the tax credit that families making under $85,000 can receive for child care costs, with some help for families earning up to $115,000, too.

-Capping the size of periodic federal college loan repayments at 10 percent of borrowers’ discretionary income to make payments more affordable.

-Increasing by $1.6 billion the money pumped into a federal fund to help working parents pay for child care, covering an estimated 235,000 additional children.

-Requiring employers who don’t offer 401(k) retirement plans to offer direct-deposit IRAs for their employees, with exemptions for the smallest firms.

-Spending more than $100 million to help people care for their elderly parents and get support for themselves as well. AP (via WBAL)

Some of these things are more government intervention and will cost more money. The doubled tax credit will lower the tax burden of those who, for the most part, pay little, if any, taxes and it might not even help them. The credit will not result in more of a refund if the person pays no taxes so those on the lower end are not likely to receive much more. But those who do benefit will increase the tax burden on those who pay taxes, including those who have no children in the first place.

Capping loan payments will extend the life of the loan though it might make it easier to pay back. There will be a trade off for this but it might benefit those who are having trouble making the loan payments. One problem I see is they will be paying for a longer period after they graduate.

Pumping more money into a fund to help people pay for child care will cost taxpayers. The insult is that other taxpayers will be paying for their cildren’s care and the care of someone else’s children. Those with no children will also pay for the care of those with children. This is another redistribution plan that Obama loves so much.

Requiring employers to offer IRAs is more government intervention in the private sector. So long as employers only have to offer the plan and don’t have to fund (and are not forced to provide it) then it should not be an issue. The problem is that government does not belong being involved in private business. What a company offers should be between the company and its employees. We will need to watch this one to see how much government creeps into the issue.

Spending more money for people to take care of elderly relatives will cost money and means that we will get to support the parents of other people. They did not raise us, clothe us, feed us or provide us with a house when we were growing up but we will be expected to pay for their care.

Obama is in trouble a year and a week into his term and he is pandering to the middle class to try and soothe their fears. The Brown victory in Massachusetts was a wake up call and Obama knows he must appease the minions by giving them trinkets or his party will be in very serious trouble come November.

None of these things will create jobs (something Obama will note) and none of them reduces spending. They are nothing more than shiny beads given in an attempt to appease the masses and make them think dear leader loves them.

Here is an idea. Get rid of the capital gains tax for a year and eliminate the corporate tax for a year and then raise it to 50% of what it was. Cut government spending by going line by line (where have I heard that before) and eliminating waste. And for now, focus solely on job creation and the economy and forget the grandiose, pie in the sky things.

The liberal leaning website Wonkette has a great take on this issue.

How is that hope and change working out for ya?

Elections Have Consequences

Since the day Obama won I have heard the words in the title more times than I care to remember. The same people who told me that Bush was evil and did not have a mandate to carry out an agenda are the ones who tell me Obama was elected for this reason or that and that he has a mandate to do what he wants to achieve his agenda. Elections have consequences, they say.

Yes, and just as those who did not favor Bush’s agenda (and I did not like some of it) were free to oppose him, we are free to oppose Obama. It does not make us racists or obstructionists or anything else. I recall the left telling us dissent was patriotic when they were the ones dissenting. Now it is racist. It is only true in the world of moonbats who see racism in every thing that a tea party gathering does but never once denounced the vile behavior of the Che T shirt wearing moonbats who opposed Bush and wished violence on him at every turn. I remember visiting the site of one person who comments here just after that grenade was thrown (or found) near Bush (the grenade did not go off) and the people commenting at that site were happy that Bush was not killed. Not because he was president or any thing other than they were worried that Bush being assassinated in another country would give us an excuse to have another war. They were OK with him being murdered here.

Well, elections do have consequences and even though many Democrats said (before the Massachusetts election) that a Brown victory would mean little and that they would still ram health care through (and they would try to do it before Brown was sworn in) they are now doing a 180. The support for the plan among Democrats has diminished and it is very unlikely that they will have the bill before Obama in time for the State of the Union Address.

While some Democrats are vowing to go full speed ahead (most notably, Obama) many are rethinking their position. Some are saying they need to take a month off from the issue, some are saying that the public must really be serious about not wanting it and others are saying that they might need to pare the bill down to the things that Republicans in Congress and the general public can get on board with.

The election of Republican Scott Brown in Democrat stronghold Massachusetts has turned the Democrats upside down. They are worried about their jobs and they are now trying to find a way to scuttle the health care bill without disgracing Obama (though they are more concerned with keeping their seats). Don’t be surprised to see the House and Senate reconcile a bill and send it to the Senate to have Republicans vote it down so they can blame it on the right and save face for Obama.

They went from ramming it through to trying to avoid it in the course of a week all because an unknown Republican won a Senate race in a very blue state.

Michael Goodwin of the New York Post has a great piece entitled; End of O’s cowardly lyin’, which begins:

We the people of the United States owe Scott Brown’s sup porters a huge debt of gratitude. They didn’t merely elect a senator. They ripped the façade off the Obama presidency.

Just as Dorothy and Toto exposed the ordinary man behind the curtain in “The Wizard of Oz,” the voters in Massachusetts revealed that, in this White House, there is no there there.

It’s all smoke and mirrors, bells and whistles, held together with glib talk, Chicago politics and an audacious sense of entitlement.

At the center is a young and talented celebrity whose worldview, we now know, is an incoherent jumble of poses and big-government instincts. His self-aggrandizing ambition exceeds his ability by so much that he is making a mess of everything he touches.

As the Cowardly Lion would say; “Ain’t it da troot, ain’t it da troot?”

America owes a debt of gratitude to the people of Massachusetts for electing Brown. That one act has the Democrats scurrying like the rodents they are.

The unraveling is fun to watch.

They might pull it together before the next election but I would not bet on it. They will tact to the center but can we trust them after what they did during Obama’s first year in office.

James Carville said that the Democrats would be in charge for 40 years after Obama was elected. At the rate they are going they might not make it a whole two years.

Who knows what will happen? They might change their game plan and get things right. Of course they can always drop back tot heir fail safe position.

Blame Bush.
