An Out Of Control Government
Jan 10, 2012 Political
Suppose the federal government required all people in the US to buy clothing impregnated with a special fire retardant and that failure to buy clothing with the fire retardant would result in a $1000 fine. It would be bad enough that the government required us to have such things in our clothes but now suppose that the fire retardant did not exist.
That’s right. The government requires you to buy clothing with a substance in it that does not exist and then fines you when you are unable to do the impossible.
Not many Americans would stand for this kind of nonsense so Big Dog, how could you even suggest such a silly thing? The government would never require people to use something that does not exist and then fine them when they were unable to do so.
Not so. The federal government will receive about $6.8 million in fines (for 2011) assessed to oil companies because they failed to mix a biofuel additive in with their gasoline and diesel. The companies expect to pay even more this year for failing to use the biofuel.
The problem is, the biofuel does not exist outside of labs. It has not been developed for use so it cannot be used but that has not stopped the government from assessing penalties on companies because they cannot possibly meet the demands the government has placed on them.
Penalizing the fuel suppliers demonstrates what happens when the federal government really, really wants something that technology is not ready to provide. In fact, while it may seem harsh that the Environmental Protection Agency is penalizing them for failing to do the impossible, the agency is being lenient by the standards of the law, the 2007 Energy Independence and Security Act. NYT
This is absolutely ridiculous and clearly demonstrates an out of control government. This is what happens when government mandates compliance with things that are not yet possible or will not be when compliance laws take effect. This is the same problem we will face if government mandates movement to certain “green” energy sources by specific dates and then those not yet invented sources do not come to be.
I would imagine the oil companies will take legal action to keep from paying a penalty that they cannot possibly avoid.
If not then how long will it be before we are all held hostage to the impossible demands of an impossibly inept government?

Push For Maximum Penalties On Wall Street Occupiers
Oct 17, 2011 Political
The Wall Street Protesters are part of the mob from the left. The mob was formed as part of an astro-turf effort of George Soros groups and labor unions. It is comprised of ill informed people who think that they are entitled to the wealth of others. It is comprised of people who are protesting against the people who pay the most in taxes in this country and who provide the jobs. It is comprised of people who are breaking the law by committing acts of violence, vandalism, and obstruction.
A lot of these people have been arrested and charged with one offense or another. Some of the protesters have had their charges dropped as part of the review process and others are awaiting their day in court.
As part of the civil unrest and disobedience the protesters who were arrested are now committing extortion. They are telling the courts to drop the charges against all protesters OR they will clog the court system. According to the lawyers representing the mob members who have been arrested, if the charges are not dropped then they will be marching in the courtrooms “en masse” starting on 15 November when 60 of the miscreants are scheduled to appear.
These folks are claiming that they will all demand a trial by jury and will overload the court system.
Perhaps, but the Manhattan District Attorney says the system can handle the additional load.
The courts cannot be badgered by the members of this flash mob. It must put its foot down and not bow to extortion.
The courts need to inform the people who have been arrested that their charges will NOT be dropped and if they demand a trial by jury the DA will seek the maximum penalty for anyone a jury finds guilty. This means that any crime that could have a prison sentence WILL have a prison sentence. There will be no deals, no lowered fines, suspended sentences, probation or leniency for anyone convicted by a jury. They will receive the maximum penalty allowed by law.
The people who want to clog up the system need to know that they will be taking a chance on heavy fines or jail time if their gamble does not go their way. They need to know that they will be drawing from a jury pool in the area and those jurors are the ones who see the littering and have been impeded on their way to work. These cretins need to know that the jury they get might not be sympathetic to their cause and they might end up heavily fined or in jail.
Let’s see how committed they are to their cause when they are confronted with the reality of a heavy fine or jail term.

Democrats Target CIA
Mar 1, 2010 Political
The Democrats do not like the CIA especially since that organization showed that Nancy Pelosi lied about her knowledge of water boarding. Maybe if we water board her we can get the truth…
Democrats tried to slip language in a bill that would hamper the efforts of the CIA and make people subject to 15 year jail terms for harsh interrogation. The language was ambiguous and would hamper our intelligence gathering efforts. To their credit, some Democrats came out against the provision which was eventually removed. But this is not likely the end of the effort:
Hoekstra said the House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Intelligence chairman Rep. Silvestre Reyes, who “have such a distaste for the rank and file in the CIA,” will “use whatever tools at their disposal to find other ways to make this law.”
Hoekstra said he thinks Pelosi and Reyes, on the same day President Obama held his highly publicized health-care summit, “were hoping nobody would notice,” they were pushing the legislation through, trying to “sneak it through.”
Even several Democratic members, Hoekstra said, told him Thursday night when they realized the interrogation amendment made it into the intelligence bill that they had “no idea why the speaker and Reyes would put this in.” The DC
Maybe now is the time for the operatives in the CIA (the real ones, not the Plame types) the work on sabotaging the reelection efforts of people like Pelosi and Reyes. Perhaps the CIA could come up with convincing evidence of wrong doing or compromising situations that would help voters decide when they vote. Maybe some leaked memos around election time would be helpful especially ones that specifically show Pelosi as a liar.
It seems to me that if Pelosi and her ilk want to destroy the careers of people in the CIA then the agents in that agency have an obligation to return the favor and they certainly have the ability to make life miserable from the shadows.
It would be great to see them engage the enemy within from within.

Obama Might Just Be On To Something
Nov 10, 2009 Political
In an interview with Jake Tapper of ABC, Barack Obama discussed the health care debacle that is working its way through Congress. Tapper asked him about the provisions in the bill for people to go to jail if they do not get insurance and refuse to pay the tax that will be levied on them for the refusal. Obama danced around the jail issue and said that everyone had to buy insurance. He likened it to car insurance, an argument that I have already destroyed. People are only forced to buy car insurance if they own a car. People do not have to have a car. Here is a part of Obama’s answer that shows promise:
“I think the general broad principle is simply that people who are paying for their health insurance aren’t subsidizing folks who simply choose not to until they get sick and then suddenly they expect free health insurance. That’s — that’s basic concept of responsibility that I think most Americans abide by,” Mr. Obama said, “penalties are appropriate for people who try to free ride the system and force others to pay for their health insurance.” [emphasis mine] ABC
This is interesting indeed. I think Obama might be on to something. Let me change that last sentence to this [select one or more of the options]:
“penalties are appropriate for people who try to free ride the system and force others to pay for their [welfare, abortions, tuition, tax liability, home heating fuel, electricity, cars, and other social programs].”
Barack has hit the nail on the head. We have far too many people in this country who are on welfare and who do not pay any income taxes (not including the people in his administration). We have people who expect the government (read the taxpayer) to pay for abortions. There are programs to pay for electricity and heating fuel and all of these come from the taxpayer. Cash for clunkers was nothing more than taxpayer money going toward a vehicle for another person.
If all these people abode by the idea of basic responsibility then we would not have them running around with their hands out looking for more taxpayer money. We should have an appropriate penalty for those who are getting money, a free ride, while the rest of us do what is right.
The other interesting thing is that Obama said that it is not right for these free loaders to expect someone else to pay for their health insurance but the government plan is nothing more than taxpayers paying for people’s health insurance. Isn’t that a bit ironic?
I wonder why so many people fail to see the contradictions.
I wonder how long it will be before the liberals tell me that it is different…

Get Insurance Or Go To Jail
Sep 26, 2009 Political

During the campaign, then candidate Obama poo-pooed the idea of compulsory insurance. He told Hillary Clinton, who had proposed the idea, that he did not think it was wise and that controlling costs would allow people to get insurance. In my previous post I stated that no one expects a politician to keep a campaign promise but this was not a promise, this was Obama’s position on an aspect of an opponent’s cure for the problems in health care.
Obama said that he did not think it was good to force people to buy insurance.
Now that he has won the election he has more positions than the Karma Sutra and he changes them often. Interestingly, he intends to do to America what the Karma Sutra instructs people to do to each other.
Barack Obama is touting Obamacare as the only way to fix the problem. We have heard from him and his surrogates that there are only two options, his way or what we have. This is blatantly false and misleading and designed to push through an agenda that is about controlling our lives.
Under Obamacare, those who fail to buy health insurance (and subsequently do not pay the imposed tax for failing to do so) may be sent to jail for a year, fined $25,000, or both. Senator John Ensign requested confirmation of this from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold. Ensign received a handwritten note confirming the information.
I previously wrote that the Obamacare plan would impose a tax increase on the middle class and this is nothing more than a tax increase an the penalty for failing to pay that tax increase. If people pay for the insurance they have paid a tax increase, and if they pay the penalty, they have paid a tax increase. The penalties are for failing to pay what the bill clearly states is a tax.
As Lauri Regan of the American Thinker stated:
Last week, Obama provided us with the untruth that the individual mandate penalty of $1900 is not a tax increase. But if it is not a tax increase, how can the IRS enforce it with the threat of jail or fine? In Obama’s world of fun and games, I suppose anything goes, but I for one have no desire to take my “Chance.”
This, of course, is in addition to all the tax increases that will be hidden in various other aspects of the bill so as to deceive people into thinking that Obama did not raise their taxes. Sometime in the future there will be unhidden tax increases as Obama tries to tackle the huge debt he is racking up. That will probably be after the 2012 election, should he win.
This is America. How can they fine or jail people for not buying health insurance? What will they mandate next that forces us to pay more of our money? Will they require that we all buy a gym membership? Will we all be required to buy subscriptions to a local newspaper to help bail them out? Where will it end?
Will it end with the USA being renamed the USSA?
The Democrats are adding to this bill and they are pushing for government run health care so they can control that part of the economy and have nearly complete control over our lives.
The note from Barthold makes it pretty clear they intend to take over our lives with the use of force.
Good. Force gets force in return and though many politicians think the protests and opposition will die down, they will soon find out that they were wrong.
In 2010, we need to add all of them to the rolls of the unemployed.
