I bet it is not a TEA Party!

Nancy Pelosi is clueless. She bears a great deal of responsibility for the total beat down her party took in the last election. I know the apologizers will claim it was about anti incumbency and in a small way that is true. Most parties in power lose seats in the midterm (Bush gained in his first) but the scope of this beat down is historic. Not only did the Democrats lose more than 60 House seats and about 6 Senate seats, they lost over 600 seats in state and local elections. They lost the State House in many key states.

This was a complete repudiation of the way the Democrats drove the economy into the ditch since they took control in 2007. Up to that time the numbers were pretty good with low unemployment and low inflation. Since they have been in charge they have wrecked things and we are seeing the increase in prices that is showing before we hit massive inflation.

Given all this one would think that Democrats, and Pelosi in particular, would get the message. And if you are wondering, it is not that it was not sold the right way, it is that the polices were bad. Democrats wrecked things and it was time for change we could really believe in.

But Pelosi did not get the memo. The Botox must have numbed her brain. She is having a party:

I wonder if that party will celebrate the accomplishment of losing more House seats in over 60 years or losing more state and local seats in at least that long or if they will celebrate the stupid things they did that led up to that historic defeat.

Pelosi was an effective Speaker. Her job was to push Obama’s agenda and that she did. She bribed, beat, and harassed people into doing what she wanted while they were being assured they would be rewarded for their stances on tough legislation that the people wanted.

Seems to me if they had actually spent time doing the people’s business and leaving the private sector alone the economy would have rebounded (like it is in other places) and more of them might not be adding to the unemployment numbers.

Ah yes, it is strange what Democrats tout as success…

If being slaughtered is success to them please keep them from running our military. To them General Custer was successful…

And that is that he was a Republican in Name Only (RINO).

Arlen Specter has announced today that he will switch parties and become a Democrat. This is a formality because he was a Democrat for a long time. The name change just makes it official. Specter stated that he did this because he finds his views NOW align more closely with the Democrats than the Republicans but who is he kidding? Specter has been a supporter of abortion and gay marriage and he has voted with the Democrats on a number of issues that are not viewed favorably by Republicans. The real issue is that Specter has ticked off Republicans and he knows he cannot win in 2010 if he remains in the party.

It is obvious that Specter is doing this because he wants to remain in politics regardless of what the people want. On Saint Patrick’s Day he said he was not going to switch parties because he believed that it was important to have checks and balances. I imagine he does not believe in that if it means he will be out of a job.

Specter is running as a Democrat so that he can keep his job in the Senate because it is about power and nothing else. He can’t let a pesky thing like voters get in the way of what he wants. He has basically decided that the voters who have vowed to get rid of him don’t have that right and don’t know what they are doing and that is why he switched. Specter stated:

“I am unwilling to have my twenty-nine year Senate record judged by the Pennsylvania Republican primary electorate,” Breitbart

Isn’t that what primaries (and elections in general) are for? Are not the voters supposed to judge a candidate and decide if he is worthy of being elected or reelected? What Specter is saying is that he is unwilling to have the people who put him in office and whose views he is supposed to reflect decide on his future because he was inadequate and did not do a good job. He knows that he did not hold Republican values or he would not be in this situation. He was more than willing to allow them to judge his record when they supported him.

The defection of Specter and the abandonment of his checks and balances means that the Democrats will likely have the 60 votes they need to prevent a filibuster on most issues. This means that many things will pass unopposed and puts us on an even faster track to hell.

I hope Specter loses the Democratic primary and is soundly defeated. He has given any long time Democrat a lot of ammunition to use because any challenger can attack Specter for all his years as a Republican.

Specter is confusing the adoration Democrats have for him for voting with them, especially on all this recent spending, as a commitment to him. I hope he finds out that he is not loved at all.

He needs to go and it should be obvious to anyone from either party. Specter is putting his political future ahead of his country and Pennsylvania voters and is dismissing Republicans because they are tired of his inability to do a good job.

The big issue right now is the Swine Flu. At least the Republican Party is partially cured of the RINO virus…

Well, now we know that politicians are whores who have no taste, and no morals- it shouldn’t come as a surprise, I guess. It’s just disappointing to see the dissolution front and center.

The latest example to come to light is that of Arlen Specter, a Pennsylvania RINO (Republican in name only). This should not come as a surprise to anyone who has observed his voting record over the years, where it has become painfully apparent that he, like all Democrats suffered from Lubner’s Disease, first diagnosed in 1976, on Saturday Night Live. In a skit with Bill Murray and Gilda Radner, it was explained that Lubner’s Disease was when one was born without a spine- a perfect description of Sen. Specter and the rest of the Liberals in the House and Senate.

Arlie knew that he wouldn’t win re- election as a Republican, with competition against a real conservative. He was too limp on contentious problems, and probably has “issues” with wanting approval from others.

Well Gee Whiz, he can play with all the “In” people and go to the “A” class parties, and I guess that might be important to Arlie Boy, but his constituents might just be feeling a bit betrayed- or not, as they are also home to Jackie “Our Army is Murdering Scum” Murtha, and I understand that Joe “Job Security” Biden is from Scranton, so perhaps Pennsylvania does have aberrant people in their political world. Perhaps they elect intellectually “challenged” people in order to get them out of the state. That certainly would make more sense than electing these mokes, believing that these people would have a moral or ethical center that might guide them in their decisions.

Now, I guess, we wait for the other shoe to drop regarding Olympia Snowe, and/ or Susan Collins, two more “moderate”, or spineless Republicrats who can’t seem to decide who to dance with, in terms of their party.
I have a bias against what consider betrayal- if he felt that way, he should have run as a Democrat the last time he was up for election- I mean, come on, this wasn’t like having a bad hair day- he had to have thought it out for more than a day or so. Heck, his decisions for the past six years alone have indicated that he would roll over for anyone willing to scratch his belly, as long as the person scratching was liberal.

Arlie has a problem- he might like the manly feel of calling himself a conservative, but in the end, he couldn’t hang with making the hard decisions needed to BE a conservative. He likes to be liked too much for that to happen, and besides, he is old and probably feels that if the country goes down the toilet, he won’t be around to see it.

What a coward.

Barack Obama plans on spending more money on our economic downturn than FDR spent on the New Deal (or Raw Deal, as it were). The Generational Theft Plan that he has come up with (OK, Pelosi and Reid came up with it and he signed it) spends money we do not have and there is no indication as to how we will pay off the huge debt that is piling up.

Somewhere along the way taxes and fees will increase and the taxpayer will foot the bill for lavish spending, new government programs (that will never go away) and pork projects to protect mice. When this economy gets back on track, which it would do regardless of the intervention (though the plan might slow recovery), Obama and the Democrats will come to taxpayers with a bill for all that was done. That bill will be paid for by an increase in taxes and fees. I would not be surprised if the tax code is rewritten to disallow many deductions so that taxpayers end up with even more of their money confiscated by the government.

Obama still owes Chicago 1.7 million dollars for his post victory celebration that was held in that city. The DNC says it is reviewing the bills for accuracy but the DNC has had since November to get this taken care of. Certainly the Democrats cannot be worried that they are getting shafted by the honorable folks who run Chicago.

This late bill looks like the way Obama has run government so far. Rack up bills with little or no regard as to how, or if, they will get paid. Just live in the moment and worry about the costs later on.

Then again, maybe he plans of passing the cost of his party on to his grandchildren.

That seems to be the way he does business.

Some people in Australia are in a snit because Paris Hilton went on a 40 minute shopping spree and spent nearly $4000. According to the story, some charities accused her of callous excess.

I guess she should donate her money to the charities instead?

I don’t follow Paris Hilton (though I stay in a lot of her hotels) and I don’t care what she does with her money. I have yet to figure out why she is such a big deal aside from her wealth. She is spoiled and cried her way out of a long jail sentence because she could not stand it there. Who could?

I will say that she had the best campaign ads during the last election and some of the things she said made more sense than what the real candidates were saying.

But one thing I am absolutely certain of is that she can spend her money any way she wants to. If she wants to give it to charity then fine and if she does not want to give it to charity that is also fine. If people had decided to give money to charity instead of Obama then charities would have had about three quarters of a billion dollars. But people chose to do something else with it and that is their right.

Paris Hilton lives a lavish lifestyle because she has tons of money. It is hers and I see no reason that she should be criticized for spending it however she wants.

Amazingly, Hilton was in Sydney to host an exclusive New Year’s dance party and she will get 100,000 Australian dollars for her appearance.

Why didn’t the charity criticize whoever decided to pay her that kind of money to host a party?
