Crescent shapes with and without Islamic intent: the Obama logo example

Blogburst logo, petition

The two most widely recognized symbols of Islam are the crescent and the sword. Kind of amusing that Barack Hussein Obama’s campaign logo can be seen to feature both a crescent and a curved Islamic scimitar:

Obama logo animation, crescent and scimitar

The crescent shape in Obama’s logo has the round part on top, just like a traditional crescent shaped mihrab (the Mecca direction indicator around which every mosque is built). The animation shows the two most famous mihrabs in the world: the mihrab from the Great Mosque in Cordoba, and the Prophet’s mihrab in Medina.

The lighter vertical column in the center-bottom of the logo, presumably meant to indicate reflected light, even conveys the full vertical shape of a traditional mihrab. The scimitar in the animation is from the flag of the Bosnian regiment of the Nazi SS.

If Obama himself had come up with this crescent logo, one might suspect Islamic intent, given his Islamic heritage. But the logo was not designed by Obama. It was designed by a Chicago based branding firm named Sender, which claims credit for coming up with: “a white sunrise against a blue sky, over a landscape implied by red and white stripes.”

Obama definitely deserves to be made fun of for having a fairly obvious crescent shape in his logo, given his efforts to convince the public that he is not Muslim. This is already an uphill climb, when both his grandmother and his cousin are telling documented lies about their religion, claiming to be Christian in one venue while professing themselves Muslim in another. Lying about being Christian: it’s an Obama family tradition!

Still, there is no indication that the crescent and scimitar shapes in Obama’s logo are intended to convey any Islamic meaning. A genuine coincidence apparently. At the opposite pole is the Crescent of Embrace design for the Flight 93 memorial:

MockUpandCrescent20%

Contrast 1: Architect Paul Murdoch CALLS his crescent shaped memorial a crescent

The Crescent of Embrace name proves that the Flight 93 crescent was and is intended to be seen as a crescent. Only very reluctantly did the Memorial Project change the name, and the changes they made to the design are purely cosmetic. Every particle of the original Crescent of Embrace design remains completely intact in the Bowl of Embrace redesign.

Contrast 2: The Islamic symbolism is overt

It is not plausible that an architect, designing a memorial to people murdered by Islamic terrorists, could be oblivious to the fact that his memorial design is laid out in the shape of a bare naked Islamic crescent and star flag, readily identifiable as a crescent and star flag to airliners like Flight 93 passing overhead.

The Memorial Project simply assumes that the Islamic symbol shapes CAN’T be intentional, which is about like seeing an airliner fly into the World Trade Center and assuming it CAN’T be intentional. Do these people even remember the day they are supposed to be memorializing?

Contrast 3: The Flight 93 crescent contains still further Islamic symbolism

It turns out that the giant crescent points to Mecca. A crescent that Muslims face into to face Mecca is a well known structure in the Islamic world. It is a mihrab (as seen in the above animation), which gives the direction that Muslims are to face for prayer.

Everyone at the Memorial Project is fully aware that a person facing into the giant crescent will be facing almost exactly at Mecca. This according to Flight 93 Advisory Commission member Tim Baird. Again, they all just assume that this MUST be an innocent mistake (the equivalent of seeing as SECOND airliner fly into the Trade Center, and STILL assuming it can’t POSSIBLY be intentional).

Contrast 4: Proof of intent

Paul Murdoch PROVES that the Mecca orientation is intentional by repeating it in the crescents of trees that surround the minaret like Tower of Voices. Below is an animated run-through of the repeated Mecca-orientations (2 minutes).

You can restart the animation by refreshing the page:

Contrast 5: the designer’s own thematic description is clearly terrorist memorializing

The designers of Obama’s logo offer a clearly innocent thematic description of their creation. You can tell just by looking at it what it is MEANT to signify: a white sun coming up into a blue sky over red and white rows of fruited plain. Even the uncanny intimation of the vertical sides of a traditional mihrab are fully explained by the “sun” reflecting off the red and white “landscape.”

In contrast, Paul Murdoch’s thematic account of his design is as nakedly pro-terrorist as his crescent and star layout. Murdoch says that the crescent comes from the terrorists breaking the circle. That is, they broke our liberty-loving circle, and turn it into a giant Islamic-shaped Mecca-oriented crescent.

As Tom Burnett Sr. put it in his letter to American people, asking for help with our petition to keep the crescent design off of his murdered son’s gravesite:

I don’t want to celebrate the terrorist’s circle-breaking crescent-creating feat.

And lest anyone thinks that the giant crescent is no longer present, the Park Service website makes clear that, while the redesign looks more like a circle, the circle is still broken:

The circle is broken in two places that mark the southeastern path of the plane to the crash site. The circle is broken at the entry to the memorial and at the crash site.

The breaks are in the exact same places as before and the unbroken part of the circle (the crescent) remains completely unchanged. It it still points to Mecca. It is still the world’s largest mihrab by a factor of a hundred. The only difference is that now a chunk of the broken off part of the circle is included in the design, which is perfectly consistent with its original terrorist memorializing theme. The terrorists still break our liberty-loving circle and still turn it into a giant Mecca-oriented crescent.

So there you have it. Dueling crescents! Obama’s crescent logo exemplifies innocent coincidence (however guilty Obama may be of lying about his religion). In contrast, the Flight 93 crescent exemplifies proven intent. (More of architect Paul Murdoch’s endless proofs of intent here and here.)

Obama gets cross in Kentucky

Obama Cross

Last year around Christmas time Mike Huckabee put out an ad about the season and honoring Jesus. In the background of the ad was a bookcase and the bookcase formed a cross. It actually looked more like a plus sign because the horizontal part was in the middle of the vertical part but nonetheless, it was perceived as a cross even though it has ornaments on it. The only reason there was a controversy is because Huckabee is a man of the cloth and conservative and liberals hate Christian symbolism (or perceived symbolism) in politics unless they are injecting it.

Liberals (and some conservatives) went nuts over this. How dare this guy bring religion into the political world. This despite the fact that all of them have mentioned God and their beliefs in one fashion or another. Anyway, people thought this was just terrible:

Joy Behar [The View] summed the whole thing up with this: “Fine! But let’s just call it what it is. If it looks like a duck, and it quacks like a duck, it’s a duck. It’s an appeal to the Christian right base of the Republican party. The end. That’s it.” The Conservative Voice

Atheist Michael Newdow on Fox discussing how inappropriate it was (You Tube).

First off, let’s all agree how fun it was to see TV blowhards like Chris Matthews and Meredith Vieira come unhinged over the possibility that the infamous bookshelf in the background of Gov. Huckabee’s Christmas TV message was a sinister attempt to subliminally brainwash dopey Americans into seeing a (gasp!) cross. TownHall

There are plenty of examples of the moronic reaction to the so called cross. Google “Huckabee cross” and you will find quite a few items about it. Remember, it caused such a controversy that Huckabee had to defend it and tell people it was a bookcase.

Now enter Barack Hussein Obama, the presumptive nominee for the Democratic party, and see what he is spreading around Kentucky. The picture at the top of this post is a campaign flyer that talks about Obama being a Christian and it shows him standing with a cross behind him. This is not an image, or a bookcase, or any other item that can be mistaken for a cross, it is an actual cross.

The questions now become, will Joy Behar call this what it is, a direct appeal to the Christian right base of the Republican party? Will Micheal Newdow make the TV circuit telling everyone that he, as an atheist, finds it offensive and that it is inappropriate? Will Matthews, Vieira and all the other liberal political pundits who are in the tank for Obama come unhinged over this blatant display of religion? Will this cross require Obama to explain what he thinks he is doing by displaying an item that is so offensive to the left?

You can bet that very few of the people in the media, and certainly not the idiots who criticized Huckabee, will mention it. Those who do will excuse it in some fashion and say that Obama is reaching out. They will say he is crossing lines, he is deeply spiritual and deem it to be perfectly OK. They will give it their seal of approval because, to them, Obama is the messiah. Can we say hypocrites?

Yes we can.

Perhaps the kids at Kos who support Obama can come up with creative ways to excuse behavior that was criticized as overtly religious.

The reality is, Obama is still plagued by rumors that he is a Muslim and no matter how hard he tries he cannot shake that perception. He is also associated with a church that teaches the destruction of white people and that America is bad. Obama is trying to appeal to people in an area where he is unappealing.

This will be interesting to watch play out. I want to see how the liberals excuse this. most will probably need a chiropractor by the time they get done contorting themselves trying to excuse it.

But, that is their cross to bear.

What, no cut and run from Hillary?

A recent poll shows that a majority of Democrats think Hillary Clinton should stay in the race. The candidate herself, despite insurmountable odds, has indicated she will stay in until the end and that she plans to win. Hillary and her supporters want her to stay even though it looks impossible to win and even though she is broke and lending her campaign money.

These are the same people who want us to cut and run from Iraq. They are the folks who tell us that we cannot win in Iraq and that it is costing a lot of money (it is). The successes in Iraq are certainly more evident than in the Clinton campaign but nonetheless, they want us to cut and run from the war.

Why is it that people who advocate cutting and running from a war we are having success in advocate for Hillary to stay the course even though she cannot win without her party screwing Barack Obama over?

If these people applied the same standard to Hillary’s campaign as they do to the war then she would have been gone long ago. Not that I want to see her leave but one would think these people could at least be consistent.

The painful truth is that if the Democrats had a winner take all primary, Hillary would have locked up the nomination long ago. However, the Democrats chose to play games with their system and now they are in a pickle. There will be blood at their convention and a lot of people will have hurt feelings.

Who could ask for anything more?

The real Barack Hussein Obama

This is an interesting video that lists some major issues with Barry Obama. It goes into detail to explain what black liberation theology is, who Cone was and what he wrote and how Barry connects with all this. The video lays out a firm foundation that explains why Barry does not honor our flag and why his wife has not, until recently, been proud of America.

It is 13 minutes long but well worth the time.

Should Hillary have said it?

Barack Obama has started acting less like a candidate in a primary and more like a presumptive nominee for his party. He is looking past Hillary Clinton and directly at John McCain. Obama is in a good position and feels comfortable though I would not count out a Clinton. Hillary is expected to win big in West Virginia today and Kentucky next week and then, according to rumors, she will drop out of the race. No matter how strong Obama is going, 64% of Democrats nationwide want her to stay in the race so we will see what she does after Kentucky.

The article describing the rumor indicated that she hinted she would leave after those contests, presumably so she could leave on a high note. There is one thing she said that I think might have been better kept in her brain:

“A woman is like a tea bag: You never know how strong she is until she is in hot water.” New York Post

Given her husband’s past and what he lied about doing (and considering the hot water he got in), I am not sure I would have used the words Tea Bag to describe a woman.
