Obama To Delay Naming AG Nominee

Barack Obama will delay naming Eric Holder’s replacement until, surprise, after the midterm elections. Obama does not want the selection to be used as political fodder forcing Senate Democrats to indicate whether or not they support the nominee.

The Democrats are expected to lose Senate seats if not outright control of the Senate in the midterm elections. If they lose control Obama will push to have his nominee confirmed during the lame duck session while he still has a majority and while Harry Reid can change the rules to get what he wants.

I can imagine the entire thing playing out, assuming the Republicans win control. Obama, who is delaying naming the nominee (there are claims he has not picked anyone yet) will present the nominee during the lame duck session and urge Senators to rapidly confirm the person. He will say that any delay is unacceptable and based on partisan politics. He will tell us how important the Attorney General position is and how we cannot wait to have a person in the office.

He will tell us all how important it is to act quickly even though he has no problem with NOT acting quickly at this particular time.

To Obama it is not prudent to act quickly when an election is in the balance but it will be real important to act quickly if he is faced with losing the majority.

Now serfs, we can wait until after the election but we cannot wait until the new Senate is seated.

That would be unacceptable because…

Well because it is for the children.

Obama Takes Obamacare Off The Table

obamacaredelayBarack Obama and all of those who support the health care law that bears his moniker know it is a bad law. They forced it upon us even though a majority of the nation did not want it. They forced it through in order to take control of even more of our lives and to take away our free choices under penalty of law.

Obamacare came with problems for Democrats who voted for it willingly or were bribed into voting for it. In the 2010 midterm elections the Democrats lost the House of Representatives and it was, in large part, because of Obamacare. Many Democrats found themselves unemployed because they supported it.

Large parts of that law are scheduled to take place prior to the 2014 midterm elections and the Democrats are worried that certain mandates will have a similar effect.

Barack Obama has decided to delay the implementation of the employer mandates until after the midterm election [though there is some question as to whether he has the authority to do so or if Congress must be involved because he is changing a law] so that the Republicans will no longer have the unpopular mandates as a weapon to use during campaigns.

Make no mistake, this delay has nothing to do with allowing businesses time to comply. Failure to comply would mean more revenue to the government. The reality is that this is a political nightmare and the delay is solely for the purpose of politics. It is to take it off the table so that Democrats can win reelection.

If Obamacare is so wonderful then why is Barack Obama delaying a major part of it until after the election?

He is doing so because he knows it is unpopular and might cost Democrats seats. He is not doing it to help business and he is not doing it to be a good guy because he does not care about that.

If this were not about politics then he would not do it around an election and he would have delayed the INDIVIDUAL mandate as well. You see, individuals still have to comply on time.

Obama is worried about business owners (where the money is for donations and campaign ads) and not about the individuals who do not have the money and clout of business owners. He knows his followers will still support him and is not really worried about them. He is concerned that the businesses that will take a huge hit for a large number of employees (as opposed to one person taking a hit) will oppose Democrats with their resources.

Once again, if this was all lollipops and unicorns then he would be touting it and making sure it was displayed in all its glory.

It is despised and Obama wants to remove it from the discussion.

Keep this in mind as the campaigns heat up.

The Democrats Need To Huddle

Looks like the Democrats need to get in a huddle and get the game plan set so they are all on the same sheet of music. While Joe Biden is out blaming George Bush and the Republicans for the country’s problems (they inherited a mess you know) Barack Obama is out blaming Congress. In this instance Obama is closer to the truth than Biden.

George Bush was president when things went bad but they did not go bad until the Democrats took over Congress. They have been in charge of both chambers since 2006 and the country rapidly deteriorated since that time.

I know there is an election coming and I know the Democrats are set to lose quite a few seats and possibly both chambers of Congress but they need to get their act together. Biden is predicting that his party will not lose control as he is expected to but it helps little when Obama is blaming the inaction of Congress for problems, a Congress controlled by his party.

My prediction, and it is at odds with Biden’s, is that the Democrats will lose the House and I am betting even odds that they will lose the Senate.

This might be best for Obama (and might explain why he blamed Congress) because a Republican Congress will make him look good as it did Clinton. Bill Clinton gets a lot of credit for things that were done as a reult of the actions of a Republican Congress and having a Republican Congress is probably why he got a second term.

Obama might be hoping to be so lucky and all indicators are that he will at least get the same opportunity Clinton had because despite Biden’s cheery outlook, the Democrats will lose control of the House.

I might be wrong though. After all, Biden was the one who called this the Summer of Recovery…

And we see how that is working out.
