Another Bad Week For Obama

Barack Obama must wake up in cold sweats after discovering that his gift for gab can get him in as much trouble as Biden’s mouth often does. This past week Obama lost support of some folks because he weighed in on the issue of the arrest of his friend, Henry Gates. When asked a question about Gates’ arrest, Obama said the police “acted stupidly.”

A black officer who was with SGT Crowley, the officer who made the arrest, said that Crowley did his job and did nothing wrong. A black female cop who spoke, Ms. Kelly King, stated that she had supported Obama and voted for him but she will not vote for him again.

Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.

This comes as Obama’s approval numbers take a downward spiral and his health care bill lingers in political lingo. Obama has enough Democrats to pass the bill on a straight party line vote but many are balking at voting for the monstrosity. This has forced Democrats to claim they need Republicans to pass the bill. In other words, they want Republican votes so they can blame them when the thing turns out as bad as expected. Republicans should not bite. If it is so good then the Democrats should have no trouble passing it without Republican support.

Adding to Obama’s problems is disclosure of an interview he did as a Senator. In the interview he bashed Bush for ramming legislation through without giving people time to read the bill. This should ring of hypocrisy given how Obama and his Democrats are doing that very thing with all the social engineering plans they are forcing through Congress at breakneck speed. Legislation that is NOT read by anyone in Congress. Even Obama admits he does not know what is in the health care bill.

The hits keep on coming for Obama and the Democrats. Senators Dodd and Conrad, who claimed they knew nothing about their sweetheart home loan deals, were exposed as liars when a witness testified that both of them were told and were well aware of the sweetheart deals they were getting.

Republicans have added to the misery by saying they will not vote for Judge Sotomayor, Obama’s pick for the Supreme Court.

Looks like Obama needs that expensive vacation he is planning.

Funny how the Dems were up in arms when Bush went on vacation.

A ranch is Crawford is for the non elites…

John McCain Still Does Not Get It

John McCain was a hopeless candidate chosen by the MSM to run as the Republican candidate for the presidency. He was determined to be polite and keep out of the mud but politics is a dirty business. As attack after attack piled up he looked clueless and out of touch. I still think he was the better choice but that does not mean he was the best choice.

He is still out of touch. He just saw the Democrats ram legislation down the throats of Americans who will pay for this for generations to come. He acknowledged as much when he described the stimulus as generational theft. He then complained that Republicans were locked out of the process and accused Obama of breaking his promise to have DC work differently. McCain then said:

“Let’s start over now and sit down together.”

Obviously, McCain is missing the boat once again. Obama and Pelosi made it clear John but let me say it again for you; THEY WON.

They do not intend to entertain anything that differs from what they want. They might talk to you as Obama did but their idea of bipartisan is when Republicans do what Democrats want.

Let me also make this clear John. The Democrats did not screw Republicans on this bill. Sure they left you in the cold while they negotiated in the proverbial smoke filled room. It was no different than the times you guys left them in the cold. Besides, nearly all of them were going to vote for the thing no matter what.

You and every other Republican as well as the majority of Americans who do not support this plan were screwed by 3 Republicans. The traitors are Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins and Arlen Specter. They crossed over and voted to pass the bill and it gave the Democrats a victory that will hurt us for generations to come. If you want to blame anyone John, look no farther than these three.

Democrats knew how to play minority opposition and Republicans are going to have to work on it if they hope to assert some pressure on the Democrats. This means not passively voting for nominees. If there are legitimate issues to pursue then you owe it to America to pursue them. Holder and Clinton deserved much greater scrutiny than they got.

You also need to get your ducks in line when it comes to judicial nominees or we will end up with more Ginsberg types on the bench.

John, you guys in the Senate need to grow a pair and assert yourselves. You have enough people to block anything that is bad and you owe it to America to be as obstructive as the Democrats were when they were the minority. And you need to keep the three traitors in line.

I have written before and I will continue to say that one should never, ever, trust a Democrat. They will bend you over every chance they get.

John I know you want to play nice and hold hands. I know you want everyone to sit in the same sandbox and not kick sand all over each other but that is not how politics works.

Besides, look how that approach worked for you in the presidential campaign…

You got your head handed to you.

Mississippi (Calorie) Burning

Three members of the Mississippi Legislature want to make it a crime for restaurants (that receive a permit from the Mississippi Department of Health) to serve food to people who are obese. Representatives Mayhall, Read, and Shows will establish definitions of obesity for these establishments to follow and will require them to discriminate against obese people. There is no indication yet, as to whether restaurants would have to measure people and calculate body fat or body mass index to determine if they get to eat or get their fat butts booted to the street.

I guess since the civil rights movement the legislature has been at a loss for a group to discriminate against. Sure, they were able to discriminate against blacks for a few more decades, kill some civil rights workers and lynch some black men but the days of running around in sheets have long passed and elderly Mississippi legislators are longing for some other way to discriminate. In pops the fat folks and the bipartisan group of old white guys (the youngest is 67) is in all its glory because they now have another group of people to pick on and hell, a fat guy has not had a serious run for the presidency in a long time. It won’t be long before there are skinnys only water fountains and restaurants, back door entrances for fat people and laws making fat people ride in the back of the bus. What next, no driver’s license for fat people because they should be walking anyway? They will probably have to find another way to kill fatso people because the ropes might not be strong enough and the aged white guys probably can’t lift them in order to hang them anyway.

I wonder how they can discriminate next in this bastion of stupidity known as Mississippi? Maybe they can force gay people to move out of state to keep from spreading bloodborne or STDs. Perhaps they can discriminate against people with heart disease and only allow restaurants to sell them heart smart foods (cooked in that healthy southern style of using lard).

I have an idea for the legislators in Mississippi. Instead of doing stupid things like this why don’t you pass laws to improve the way your children learn? Why don’t you pass legislation that improves your educational system? You see, Mississippi ranks 48th out of all the states in how well their kids are educated. They have made great strides moving up from 49th in the previous survey. It is very important to ensure that children get a good education and that they are able to comprehend complex ideas. If you fail to give children a good education…

They grow up to be stupid legislators who propose stupid laws that discriminate.
