It is no secret that Barack Obama has little regard for the Constitution. He thinks it puts up to many barriers to redistributive change (taking from one to give to another). He believes that there should not only be a level playing field (everyone has the same chance) but that outcomes should be equal. This is one of the things Socialists like and they particularly like the part where they live like kings while the rest of the population lives in poverty.

So there is little regard for the Constitution, no surprise there. Democrats do not like the thing because it makes it harder for them to run roughshod over us.

Eric Holder, the lawless Attorney General, made a speech today discussing voting rights. He was with the head of the NAACP in South Carolina where the US has blocked voter laws. Yes, the US has blocked ID laws because Democrats think it will discriminate against voters (OK, they think Democrat voters or they would not care). They might have a point, illegals are voting in our elections. This is the Democrat voting base so yes, laws would discriminate against them but not in a bad way. They are not allowed to vote.

This is what laws are for and this is one of the reasons states are getting tougher. They are doing it because the system is broken and is wide open for fraud despite what the morons in DC say. The regime knows that it is in deep stuff and that it needs every vote it can get, legal or otherwise, in order to win. Voter laws that improve the integrity of the system are a barrier that the regime does not like. Then again, integrity is not a strong point of these people (and by these people I mean Democrats).

To Democrats the Constitution is a document of convenience. If it suits their purpose they will use it and if it does not they will ignore it.

Eric Holder does not even know the thing. He filed suit in a federal court to block Arizona’s immigration law but the Constitution clearly states that the Supreme Court has original jurisdiction when any state is a party.

Article III, Sec. 2, clause 2 says:

In all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction. In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction…

This regime is lawless and will do whatever it can get away with in order to push its agenda of making America a Socialist nation. Many Americans are too blind or too deluded to see this but those who lived under an oppressive government can see what is going on. Russian immigrants are not thrilled with Democrats and are flocking to the GOP.

The states need to push back against the tyranny of the federal government. States need to enact whatever voting laws they desire and take the feds to court if they interfere. Arizona needs to continue with its immigration laws and ignore the court that decided against the state because that court and its judge had no Constitutional authority to act.

It is time for the states to take control and to put the federal government and the Obama regime in their place.

The Obama regime is granting amnesty by fiat and allowing illegals the regime deems pose no threat to national security to stay in the US. It is bad enough that the government refuses to secure our borders and prevent people from walking in but now it is allowing those it catches to continue on as if they broke no laws.

I know the argument. These poor folks are children of people who came here illegally. They had no choice in the matter and they grew up here so why send them away? Because they are here illegally. Not to mention that those who are not adults are kept here and their parents then stay so we do not split up the families.

The Congress has been fiddling with legislation to address illegal immigration and it has been stalled in Congress for quite some time. Let’s face it, Democrats don’t want to lose their voting base.

So instead of allowing the process, as slow as it is, to work things out, the Obama regime has just decided to bypass Congress and do what it wants via fiat.

This should come as no surprise. Obama and his regime do not like the Constitution and these people do not like the constraints placed on them. They have an agenda to push and they will not let the law of the land get in the way.

This, of course, is a move to placate illegal immigrants and their support groups before the next election. Obama made a ton of promises to his illegal supporters and he has been unable to fulfill them so he is bypassing Congress in order to appease those who have no say in things. He is shoring up his base so he can get the Hispanic vote.

Period.

This moron is playing politics with our sovereignty and our national security in order to get votes.

How is it that this guy claims to love America and then pushes on to fundamentally transform her? If you love her why does she need fundamental transformation?

The only conclusion is that he hates America as it is and will not be happy until his Socialist dreams are realized.

Maybe they need to organize a flash mob on DC and get rid of all the dead wood…

Today’s word definitions and misnomers, in no particular order.

Our current state of affairs and use of language often cause me to ponder. Most recently, maybe we’re all pondering the criminal justice system.  Maybe the lesson of the Orlando jury’s verdict is that we are too used to being lied to?

For example:

Raise the debt ceiling – What ceiling? It’s always being raised. It’s not like the glass ceiling that you couldn’t break. This one is flexible. Government makes its own rules. Let’s try that at home, folks. When we’re in debt, we’ll raise our credit line. That will work!

Rich is defined today as evil and highly taxable. I’ve even heard the rich called lucky and lazy—Wrong! Do you remember when rich was a worthwhile goal, the American dream, something positive that benefited everyone–not just the person getting rich?

Secretary of the Treasury – No, he can’t be! He wants to fix a spending problem by giving the spenders more money….to spend. He seems to have no clue that high tax rates destroy the economy or that big government (he) is the problem.

Undocumented worker – A euphemism for an illegal immigrant who is illegally hired by an unlawful employer.

Immigration – Currently this term is used by the media to represent everyone that is here from another country, completely ignoring the status of the immigrant. We continuously hear the word immigration when the talking heads are really speaking about illegal immigration. Illegals are not American citizens – they cost American citizens billions of dollars.

Which conjures up another term:
Homeland Security – At the same time that we citizens (including 95-yr old Grannie) are being abused, humiliated and “felt-up” in airports by TSA employees, we like to think no radical terrorists are slipping in our porous border on the south along with that stream of illegals.

Green jobs – Where are they, again? GE sure got some green – zero tax liability. Consumers and taxpayers will lose lots of green over green jobs.

Environmental Protection Agency – Extort Peoples’ Assets (When Al Gore pitches a tent and rides a bike, we shall consider that he is correct.)

Employee Free Choice Act – Complete irony for coercion to vote “yes” for the unions = no free choice.

Stimulus Package – This incredibly obvious misnomer is actually very apropos–it stimulated government waste and the national debt.

Economist – Where is the administration official who has any business experience and has ‘economist’ on his resume? An economist ought to know how business works, not how government works. Oh, sorry, I forgot…government does not work. Unlike business, government can spend ad nauseum, print more money and still stay “in business.”

The Federal Reserve – We are learning to suspect anything labeled “federal” and sure don’t think we have a “reserve.” A supposed smart economist says,  “We don’t have a precise read on why this slower pace of growth is persisting.” Here’s just one clue why (or, the reality I see): We’ve become a socialistic society and economy with leadership that encourages class warfare and insists that government can fix everything…with more spending! We are becoming Greece and France where double digit unemployment, out of control national debt and misery are common stagnations. This slow pace is not recovery; it is socialistic stagnation.

Affirmative Action – One example of what this really meant: Your government would get to decide who gets into medical school based on race quotas. Do you want your doctor to be someone who was a good Black student or one of the smartest in his/her class…regardless of race? That really is reverse discrimination. Forget about someone’s intelligence, grade average, potential and credentials; let’s make sure the race percentages are right! Life needs to be fair! And, your government will provide the rules and regulations to make it fair!

National Education Association – Does the NEA represent education or does it represent teachers’ benefits? They’re a union, so that pretty much answers the question. Behold the huge Atlanta scandal. Can the state of California afford to pay their current teachers while they honor the previous union contracts for retired teachers’ pension and health insurance benefits? Nope! Seems NYC has same huge issues with United Federation of Teachers “Union.”  Each year we hear we need to spend more on education and the school dropout rate goes up! Hello!

Here’s an individual responsibility thought to mull over: Make the parents/guardians accountable for their kids that are using our public education system: late for school twice in one month: fine the parents; no homework done twice in one class in one week: fine the parents; lack of respect for the teacher/administrator/staff member—by disrupting the class or foul language: fine the parents. Taxpayers don’t need to pay for students that don’t show up, don’t participate and behave badly!

Remember the definition of insanity. We sure have to change our ways if we expect anything to change…for the better!

The fact that Barack Hussein Obama (mmm, mmm, mmm) refuses to secure the border and has chosen to sue Arizona rather than do his job clearly demonstrates his contempt for America. He is working on a plan for backdoor amnesty and his Immigration services are not aggressively tackling the illegal immigrant issue.

If the government took the illegal alien problem seriously then one nun would not be dead and two in critical condition. An illegal who had been released on his own recognizance by immigration services, following his third drunk driving incident, hit a car carrying the nuns.

The man suspected of drunken driving and killing a Catholic nun in Prince William County this weekend is an illegal immigrant who was awaiting deportation and who federal immigration authorities had released pending further proceedings, police said Monday. Washington Times

One function of the federal government is to protect the citizens of this country. Unfortunately, Obama and his Democrats are more interested in increasing their voter base than ensuring the citizens of this country are safe.

Jan Brewer of Arizona has the right idea. Unfortunately the guy who rides around in an armored vehicle surrounded by a plethora of armed guards cares little about those of us who have no such protection.

And yes, I know that the nuns could have been hurt by a citizen but the fact is if the government were doing its job then this accident would not have happened.

…Through the Back Door…

Each year millions of illegals sneak into this country through the back door. They walk across the porous southern border because the federal government refuses to do its job. When the states try to do the job the feds won’t do, Democrat appointed judges apply social justice rather than legal justice and the illegals just keep coming.

There have been several amnesties over the years and each time one was granted the American people were promised that there would not be a need for another amnesty and that the border would be secured. After the first amnesty more illegals arrived here and waited. They were granted amnesty and now even more have arrived. The illegals keep showing up because they know they will eventually get amnesty.

The American public knows that the federal government will NOT secure the border. Republicans like illegals as cheap labor and Democrats like them as voters. The Democrats pursuit of illegals is nothing more than a Democrat voter registration drive.

And it has to stop.

But it won’t. In fact, we are likely to get an amnesty without any act of Congress whatsoever. This is because the Obama regime is looking at options that will grant a de facto amnesty without the need for the pesky legislative process.

The internal draft written by officials at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services outlines ways the government could provide “relief” to illegal immigrants — including delaying deportation for some, perhaps indefinitely, or granting green cards to others — in the absence of legislation revamping the system. This internal draft memo was made public by Senator Grassley of Iowa who stated that the memo confirms that the Obama regime is trying to do an end run around Congress and the legislative process.

The pro illegal immigrant groups are happy and state that this shows that someone is trying to fix the broken system.

Let me make this clear, the system is not broken. The way we enforce the existing laws is broken. We have an immigration system that has clearly defined methods to obtain a legal status in this country up to and including becoming a citizen. None of those methods involve allowing people to sneak into the country and then rewarding their criminal act with amnesty. No one can find that particular method in any law that is on the books.

The system is in place and it functions quite well when it is used properly (and enforced by the feds). People apply for a status (work visa, visitor visa, citizenship, etc) and they are evaluated. If there are no reasons they should be barred from entry then they are allowed in. If not then they are denied.

The broken part is the enforcement of our current laws. People who walk across the border without permission are invaders. They are breaking the law. There is no denying it. These people are lawbreakers and it does not matter why they did it, they are still lawbreakers.

I do not care if they need a better life, are not making it in their home country, their feet hurt, they need medical care, their Frosted Flakes got soggy, or any other excuse that might come up with for their presence here, THEY ARE LAW BREAKERS AND SHOULD NOT BE REWARDED.

But this is not how things are framed by Democrats who need more voters. They claim the system is broken. I would be happy to debate Obama or any other member of his regime on this issue because the system is not broken. The people who are not enforcing the law (and their judicial activists) are broken.

Obama knows that he will not get the amnesty he wants this session of Congress and he is pretty certain that he will not have the majority when the next Congress convenes in January 2011 so he is working on something now.

That something is backdoor amnesty and it is plain wrong.

The Executive Branch and its leader are also part of the system that is broken.

They refuse to do their jobs and for that we should hold them accountable.

The new law in Arizona is already having a good effect in that Mexico has issued a travel alert to its citizens warning them about travel to Arizona without proper documentation. In other words, they are being warned not to get caught there illegally. Part of the message to Mexicans is:

“There is an adverse political environment for migrant communities and all Mexican visitors,” Mexico’s ministry said. “It’s important to act carefully and respect the local laws.” Bloomberg

Notice how the Mexican government thinks it is important to respect the laws in order not to get caught but has no such feeling about respecting the law that involves coming here illegally? Mexico has helped its people sneak across the border. That government has encouraged people to sneak in and printed books to assist them in doing so. The government there was not too concerned about respecting the law then.

Now that Arizona has finally clamped down on illegal immigration the government of Mexico wants its people to respect the law but only to avoid getting caught.

There are a lot of people upset about this law but it is a good one and it is written so as to prevent people from being profiled. The people who are upset are those who broke the law and are here illegally and those who believe in open borders and want to assist those who break the law.

About 70% of the legal residents in Arizona think the law is good and that matters more than what those who are here illegally think and it certainly matters more than what those who are assisting those who are here illegally think.

The Obama administration is looking into legal action against Arizona with regard to this law. Good luck with that.

The same people who will require us all to prove we have health insurance are loathe to require people to prove they are here legally.

And that about says it all with regard to the ineptitude of our government.

Al Sharpton, a guy they call reverend but who I have never seen leading a congregation in a church, is ready to go to Arizona to stand hand in hand with the Hispanic population that is upset by the new law that allows the police to verify that people are here legally. Al Sharpton will be out there rabble rousing and stirring up trouble. You know how it is, these left wing nut jobs go out and use hateful speech (inspired by the hateful speech of Obama) which causes the unstable people on the left to commit violence.

We have seen this with Sharpton before and people have died. He starts yelling about something and the nuts on the fringe left start killing. Bill Clinton described this last week when he was trying to paint the peaceful TEA Party group as potentially violent but Bill was wrong about the group. It is the left that commits the violence.

Sharpton is liable to go to Arizona and whip the illegals into a frenzy and they will commit acts of violence. We might get another Tim McVeigh in Arizona if the left is not careful.

I can understand why some folks are upset because they are rightly worried about how the law will impact those who are here legally and they claim racial profiling will take place. Of course this is wrong because Hispanic is not a race it is an ethnicity.

Be that as it may, the groups who are opposed to this have as much blame as anyone else in this matter. For years these advocacy groups have been working to hide illegals and to make it easier for them to get here and to stay here. These groups have been helping illegals break the law and they oppose any effort to get illegal immigration under control. If they had worked to keep illegals out and to help people come here legally we would not have a problem but since they assisted the illegals things have gotten steadily worse and the citizens of Arizona have said “enough”.

Arizona has decided to take matters in its own hands to fix a problem that has been ignored by the federal government and that has been exacerbated by the intrusion of advocacy groups who are as eager and willing to break the law as those who sneak across the borders. They are as much to blame and whining about what is taking place now will not garner them any sympathy.

People can see these groups for what they really are and what they really do.

But Sharpton will be happy to show up and rally for the illegals. Sharpton is not a stranger to breaking the law and he is not a stranger to inciting violence so this might be real interesting.

Be kind of funny if Sharpton showed up and huge crowds gathered and they engaged in civil disobedience. Things would get out of hand and stuff would get broken. Then the police would have to show up and make arrests.

The beauty of it is now that the law has been passed the cops will be able to check and see if the people Sharpton is there to stir up are here legally.

Sharpton might actually help rid the country of a large number of illegals.

But the folks in Arizona should be particularly vigilant because those left wing nut jobs get stirred into a violent frenzy really easy and Al Shapton will be there to whip them up.

Where is Bill Clinton to discuss this?

Obama said that illegals would not get health care. He might be right because the amnesty bill that the Democrats are working on would grant legal status after 24 hours even if the background checks were not completed (none will be). It will also grant amnesty to gang members and all they have to do is say they don’t want to be in a gang any more.

This video is from sometime ago, perhaps around May. I never noticed it and I imagine others failed to see it because it is on CNN and no one watches that show except a few people who would be happy with the amnesty.

Barack Obama is on the ropes with his health care takeover plan and his speech to a joint session of Congress was a Hail Mary pass to bring things back into his favor. His poll numbers have been dropping and his plan has been getting torn to shreds. His lies about the plan are not going to help the cause (yes, he lied but he was owed the apology by Wilson) even though the media wing of the Democratic party will try to portray him as a paragon of virtue and his speech as pure as the driven snow.

The media has to help out Obama because they have so much invested in him and most of them hold the same views as he. So how does one go about helping out a Messiah?

CNN had an overnight poll to see how the Sainted Won faired and wouldn’t you know it, Obama’s approval on the issue has improved 14 percentage points. This guy is so magical and such a great speaker that he was able to turn the country around in an instant by standing in front of Congress and lying his posterior off.

The only problem is the poll oversampled Democrats and way under sampled Republicans. The sample was 45% Democrat and 18% Republican (with no Independents?) so the results are most definitely skewed.

Obama did not say anything new. Yes, he changed the number of uninsured but most of what he said was the same old story interspersed with tired clichés. And of course there was the obligatory bashing of Republicans and others who disagree with him.

The CNN poll is designed to deceive the public and make those who are opposed believe that the battle is over now that Barry has spoken and “clarified” things for us. CNN is trying to squash any further dissent so that the path to Socialism will be a smooth one.

Don’t let these morons fool you. Obama and his health care takeover plan are in trouble. There are quite a few Democrats in the House who claim that they cannot vote for this, and in the Senate Kennedy is dead and won’t be replaced until next year and Byrd is too sick to vote. The Democrats do not have the votes in the House and they surely do not have them in the Senate. If they pull procedural tricks to ram this through they will pay a heavy price in the 2010 election.

Obama and health care are on the ropes just as they were before he gave the speech. He lied and as those lies are exposed over the next few weeks more and more people will oppose this monstrosity.

People will see that while you are not required to give up your current situation there are elements that will cause you to lose it. Your employer might decide that it is cheaper to pay the government penalty and drop the coverage he provides. Those on Medicare will be provided fewer services because there will be huge cuts in that program to fund the new one. Illegals will most definitely be covered. There is nothing that says they will but there is nothing that says they will not and the Democrats have already voted against several amendments that would have expressly excluded them. That is because the Democrats want to provide them care but have to use the back door to keep from angering voters. Once they have what they want it will not matter.

Yes, Obama lied and with any luck the health care takeover will die.

But until we bury this monster once and for all, the propaganda wing will continue to provide good PR and skewed polls to make the Messiah look heavenly.

In the Healthcare debate, a small part of the discussion is the illegal alien component that has disproportionate costs relative to benefits. And actually, the only benefit is that of a compassionate, feel- good nature, like helping an old lady across the street- only in this case, the “old lady” in question has cost a Las Vegas hospital around 24 million in lost revenue. I don’t care who you are- that’s a chunk of money that aint ever coming back.

A Las Vegas hospital providing emergency dialysis services to 80 illegal immigrants says that accounts for much of its operating deficit.

The University Medical Center says the treatment will cost it about $24 million this fiscal year, aggravating a budget deficit that is expected to approach $70 million.

UMC’s chief operating officer, Brian Brannman, said the hospital is required by federal law to treat anyone who shows up in an emergency but receives no reimbursement from federal, state or local governments for doing it.

Now, keep in mind here, this is only the cost for 80 immigrants, and only for dialysis- this does not take into account other services they may need, but do not pay for- and this is just one hospital out of hundreds. Now, not all hospitals will incur the same level of deficit spending regarding immigrants- some will be less, some will be more, but all will have some out of pocket expenses regarding illegal immigrants that they still, at the end of the year, have to reconcile with their budgets, and if this aspect of the problem isn’t effectively addressed, there will still be a huge hole in the Healthcare budget.

“Our people are really torn,” Brannman told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “We want to take care of people who are ill. We’re proud that we can save lives. But our employees are also worried about the survival of UMC. They know that the appetite of taxpayers for helping undocumented immigrants is limited.”

The cost of providing dialysis to illegal immigrants doubled last year, with twice as many seeking the treatment two or three times a week, officials said.

They come here to the U.S. because (1)- we have the cutting edge services, which gives them a head start on surviving, and (2)- They do not have to pay- we are a compassionate nation, and we do not turn them away. This is misplaced compassion, because what this means is the possibility of reduced services for our citizens who should be our first priority.

It’s time to do some population triage- we need to prioritize our services for citizens first, and others if we have service surpluses. I know that this sounds cruel, but if Mexico got off of it’s butt and reformed its system, it could be the model for Central and South America, and people (especially Hispanic people from Central and South America) would flock there.

Why Mexico does not do this is a puzzlement to me- I have been to Mexico, both coasts and Mexico City, also Monterey and Veracruz. I am familiar with the people, and have seen that their country is filled with resources that they make scant use of, simply because they seem to lack the political will to escape the third- world mentality that is pervasive there.

Until that happens, not much will be done, because the families in power do not wish to relinquish power, and so schools and hospitals are crude things down south, fated to stay in the early 20th century until people there begin to demand their own change.

One patient said she had nowhere else to turn.

“I am so thankful to this hospital for doing this for someone who is not a citizen,” Marta Berrera told the newspaper through an interpreter. “Without this help, I would die and my four children would be without a mother.”

UMC professionals say taxpayer-supported hospitals are strained to the breaking point and need to be part of the discussion on how to reform the nation’s health care system. If this problem isn’t solved, they say, others can expect to wait longer or pay more for their own emergency services.

“There’s no question that these illegals who come for dialysis treatment at emergency rooms back everything up,” said Dr. Dale Carrison, UMC’s head of emergency services. “And there’s also no question that they need help. But this isn’t how emergency rooms were meant to be used.”

No kidding- ERs were never meant to be a primary care facility, but that is exactly what the illegal aliens do, because they know they cannot be turned away- at least for now- but if we have to make the choice of rationing care, these illegals will be the first to go, and when the ERs have to turn them away or shut down the hospital, they will turn them away.

I have an idea- let’s bill Mexico for their care- after all, it is the Mexican government that has, for years. encouraged illegals to make the trek north. They even printed brochures that described techniques and “rest stops” on the migration north.

Now, they should be willing to pay some of the cost of caring for their populace in this foreign land.

That would be a part of the solution.
