Smartest POTUS Evah!

Village Idiot

The Far Side had a cartoon some years ago where a door to the school for the gifted had a sign that read “Pull” and a supposedly gifted kid pushing (here). Interestingly, we have some very gifted people occupying the White House. They just passed through a rainy New Orleans on their way home from their 8th vacation this year and Barry and Michelle had a few problems.

Two things are troubling about the above picture. One is that Michelle is ducking as if she is tall enough to hit the top rail that is the focus of troubling thing number two. Barack Obama, the smartest POTUS evah, is holding the umbrella in such a fashion that he cannot get through the gate. Obama does not appear to be lowering the umbrella acting instead as if he can get it to pass through the metal crossbar. Well, they say he can walk on water…

Smartest Evah……

Environmentally Friendly Rally Attendees
The Restoring Honor Rally was Saturday. The people who attended that rally, the ones who were raised to take care of themselves and to respect the property of others, left no mess. They picked up their trash and left the place clean. This is a stark contrast to the Obama inauguration where those who believe in dependence on government and cradle to grave care left tons of trash lying about for someone else to clean up. This also begs the question about which group actually cares more about the environment.

I read that some lib websites were claiming the group cleaned up to deprive parks employees from getting work. Don’t they have jobs to do whether or not there is trash to pick up?

Not So Smart Congresswoman
Eddie Bernice Johnson is in a bit of hot water. She used money allocated to the black caucus to award scholarships to children in her family and to children of a top aide. This was not allowed according to the guidelines for awarding the money. The awards are invalid and the rules state the money must be repaid.

Johnson claims she did not do this deliberately and that names come across her desk and that others handle this blah, blah. Her two grandchildren were recipients and it is unlikely their names came across her desk and she did not recognize them. She was aware of the rules and should have investigated further (maybe it was kids with the same names). She did not do what she was supposed to and I find it very unlikely that she made a mistake.

I believe she is in a safe Congressional District that was drawn up to favor her party and she felt safe in an environment where the word racist flies as soon as someone has an issue with a black politician. She was using funds to help her family and the children of her aide.

This is wrong and should be fully investigated.

Already Enough Boobs In Politics
A Venezuelan politician is holding a raffle to raise campaign cash. He is raffling off a set of breast implants in order to raise money for his campaign. I wonder if he is running for an official office or a titular position…

I hope it does not come down to this in America. Our political system already has way too many boobs in it…

The Unhinged Will Always Be With Us

Understand this- I am not going to prove the axiom that insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result. The liberal loons that occasionally come on here and try to make the argument that I am wrong and they are not, well, I know I am not going to change their minds about anything- indeed, they have been too indoctrinated too well. They will never change. Too bad, but then some people you just cannot save, and that is the truth.

Case in point- the climate- they will insist that the sky is falling, and we need to do something NOW, or we will all die, and that is just not the case. Far from it, the science is not settled, the debate is not over- there are still two sides to every story, but only one of them is correct, and it isn’t theirs. That fact is something they veritably foam at the mouth about when you question their specious “science”, where they fit the theory to  very questionable “facts”. Other facts contradict theirs.

For years, claims that UN climate reports represent the consensus of the majority of international scientists have been mindlessly accepted and regurgitated by left-leaning policy makers and the media at large.  But in the past week or so, it’s become more apparent than ever that those who’ve accused the international organization of politicizing science and manipulating data have been right all along.

This latest disclosure again concerns what has become the favorite propaganda propagation tool of climate activists — the infamous “Hockey Stick Graph.” The familiar reconstruction, which deceitfully depicts last millennium’s global temperatures as flat prior to a dramatic upturn last century, has been displayed and touted ad nauseum as irrefutable proof of unprecedented and, therefore, anthropogenic, global warming (AGW).

americanthinker.com

Now, we could all have dueling graphs at ten paces, and still not solve a thing, because they so truly believe they are right- so much like jihadists willing to throw themselves on the pyre of rational thought, hoping the sheer mass of their bodies puts out the fire of sanity.

The years 900-1300 AD have been labeled the Medieval Warming Period (MWP), as global temperatures rose precipitously from the bitter cold of the previous epoch — the Dark Ages — to levels several degrees warmer than today.  A sudden period of cooling then followed and lasted until the year 1850.  This Little Ice Age (LIA) brought on extremely cold temperatures, corresponding with three periods of protracted solar inactivity, the lowest temperatures coinciding with the quietest of the three (The Maunder Minimum 1645-1710).

And then began the modern warming period, which, by the way, many scientists believe ended with the millennium itself.

Given these natural shifts over the past 1000 years, it’s certainly not surprising that after a period of cooling, which followed a period of warming, we’d again enter a period of warming.

And that, of course, presented quite the quandary to opportunists hell-bent on blaming warming on industrial revolution-triggered atmospheric CO2 increases. Something had to be done to convince the world that modern warming was unprecedented and could therefore only be explained by something unnatural, specifically — the “Greenhouse Effect.”

americanthinker.com

Yeah, its a booger when you really, really want to blame man, and the dang climate doesn’t play along– so you just have to make up the facts, or eliminate some data to skew your findings the way you want them.

Now that’s some good science, isn’t it?

Where are the headlines? Where are the press releases? Where is all the attention?

The ice melt across during the Antarctic summer (October-January) of 2008-2009 was the lowest ever recorded in the satellite history.

Such was the finding reported last week by Marco Tedesco and Andrew Monaghan in the journal Geophysical Research Letters:

A 30-year minimum Antarctic snowmelt record occurred during austral summer 2008–2009 according to spaceborne microwave observations for 1980–2009. Strong positive phases of both the El-Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and the Southern Hemisphere Annular Mode (SAM) were recorded during the months leading up to and including the 2008–2009 melt season.

worldclimatereport.com

Oh SNAP! That’s an inconvenient graph- I bet that just scalds Gore’s chestnuts- but the liberal- warmers would try to say that the cooling just proves their warming. Or something like that, something that they believe sounds so confusing that it just has to be true. Goebbel’s Big Lie is a trick they have adopted as their own, and they make liberal (pun intended) use of this doctrine.

The trouble comes in the form of the truth.

The silence surrounding this publication was deafening.

It would seem that with oft-stoked fears of a disastrous sea level rise coming this century any news that perhaps some signs may not be pointing to its imminent arrival would be greeted by a huge sigh of relief from all inhabitants of earth (not only the low-lying ones, but also the high-living ones, respectively under threat from rising seas or rising energy costs).

But not a peep.

worldclimatereport.com

When the facts don’t fit, don’t say a thing- ssshhh- otherwise, the climate bill, which is just a government takeover, designed to squeeze more money from the taxpayers, might not pass. Politicians abhor a vacuum- in their pockets. And like other addicts, there is never enough to satisfy them. So they lie, plain and simple.

The truth is so inconvenient.

But this time around, nothing, nada, zippo from NASA when their ice melt go-to guy Marco Tedesco reports that Antarctica has set a record for the lack of surface ice melt (even more interestingly coming on the heels of a near-record low ice-melt year last summer).

So, seriously, NASA, what gives? If ice melt is an important enough topic to warrant annual updates of the goings-on across Greenland, it is not important enough to elucidate the history and recent behavior across Antarctica?

worldclimatereport.com

In a year where the Northeast had its coolest summer since records have been kept, it is really, really hard for anyone to say with a straight face that the cool weather was caused by Global Warming, which is why the liberal climate- alarmists changed the term to “climate change”- which is stupid on its face, because that is what climate naturally does, but this verbal farce makes them feel better, indeed it makes them feel righteous about their cause du jour.

But the facts say otherwise- C02 is not the boogeyman, and temperature fluctuations are more closely correlated to sunspot activity than to anything man has done, but since these alarmists can’t gain political traction on “sunspot guilt”, they try to convince us that it is all about our wanton ways,

Man Bad, Nature Good- that is the simplistic liberal version- in an egotistical fashion, it is all our fault- somehow,  think that if we enter the equation at all, we are but a very tiny part of it, and what we truly do that does change our environment is build- build cities, roads, and in the process, cut down the trees that breathe the Co2, and change it to oxygen in the process.

There are things we can do to change our ways that will be beneficial, and indeed should be done, as responsible citizens, but to have the government mandate some of the things they want, is just a blatant attempt to get more money for their purposes, and their purposes are never good. Ever.

If politicians are involved, the issue should die- that should be the rule, because politicians are venal, lying, grasping little insane people who rightly should be forced to live under bridges as the trolls they are- but under no circumstances should they be allowed control over our money. They have no  conception of how to use it.

And that is wasteful, and bad for the environment.

Obama Orders Pizza Chef For Delivery

All The Way From St. Louis!

It must be nice to be the King.

On Friday nights my wife and I order out (usually pizza) and we watch recorded shows from the past week. This is our time together and we enjoy it. We order our food from the local place and they deliver. It is about 4 miles from here and sometimes one of us picks it up on the way home. We get the pizza and not the guy who cooks it and we get it from close by.

The Obamas ordered out pizza and they had it delivered. Well actually, they had the pizza chef delivered all the way from St. Louis Missouri. Chris Sommers of pi restaurant in St. Louis flew to DC with his business partner and a case of dough and the pans needed to make the president and his staff a few pizzas.

This was supposed to be the guy who is just like you and me, who understands what we are saying and who will bring a new kind of politics to DC. Having a pizza chef fly in from Missouri to make you pizzas is something one expects from the elitists in DC and only goes to show that Obama is one of those elitists. He ate this guy’s pizzas during the campaign and decided that he wanted them so he had the guy fly in to make them.

For all you environmental whack jobs who keep telling me about global warming and what I have to do, take a look at your Resident. This guy had no problem with a carbon footprint involved in flying two men nearly 2000 miles round trip just so the sainted one could enjoy a pizza.

Obama has lost any credibility he had in this issue and cap and trade is now a non issue and off the table. Obama, like Al Gore, only wants EVERYONE else to deal with the alleged problems of CO2 and global warming. It is perfectly OK for these elitists to use more energy and to create more carbon (neither of which I am opposed to) in a week than some people do in a year.

The cost of this will be borne by the taxpayer one way or another. Either it will come out of the food budget or it will be paid out of the WH budget, both of which are funded by taxpayers. In a time when people are losing their jobs, when businesses are on the verge of bankruptcy, when the government is spending trillions in bailouts and stimulus, when people are wondering where their next meal will come from, Daddy Warbucks Obama is ordering take out pizza chefs from St. Louis and having them fly to DC to prepare him a meal. Maybe Obama will say this is part of the stimulus and it created or SAVED two jobs…

If George Bush had done this we would hear non stop squawking from the left about how a privileged, rich, oil man Republican went to excess to eat a simple pizza while people starved around the country.

I am constantly amazed by athletes and rappers who come from nothing and are suddenly wealthy and famous and then get into a bunch of trouble or demonstrate excessive behavior. The rappers with 25 cars and zillion dollar homes when they lived in a box somewhere before becoming rich. Resident Obama reminds of one of those kinds of people. All of the sudden he has all of our money at his fingertips because he has a Democratic Congress and all of the sudden he has all this fame, like a messiah, and he does not know how to handle it.

Just because you can do something does not mean you should do something. Resident Obama is able to get a chef from about anywhere to come to DC but should he? The appearance is of excess and of elitism and that is an image he does not need to portray especially during times of economic trouble especially since he ran as a person who was none of these things, a DC outsider.

Good news, the economy is picking up (and in no part because of the stimulus) but that does not mean that Obama should be acting like a king. Yes, the left called George Bush King George.

Now we have King Hussein and he is acting every bit the part.

God help us if he gets the munchies and decides he wants real Chinese food…

The International Court Of Environmental Nannyism

A former chairman of the Bar Council is calling for an international court for the environment to punish states that fail to protect wildlife and prevent climate change. Telegraph UK

Stephen Hockman wants to have a court similar to the International Court of Justice but he wants this court to be the International Court of the Environment. The court would be responsible for forcing countries to cut greenhouse gas emissions. The court would also fine countries or companies around the world for failing to protect the environment and endangered species.

The last thing we need is an Environmental Court of Nannyism. We do not need to give away our rights to outside agencies. This country has laws and law enforcement agencies to deal with companies that violate the law with regard to the environment. We need to focus on real violators and stop creating rules and expectations that are nearly impossible to meet, have little or no benefit, and drive costs way up.

This hair brained idea is being presented to a symposium at the British Library and no doubt there will be morons that sign on to it. This would be a huge mistake. Giving away our sovereignty is not the correct thing to do. Our courts and our system of laws can best address the issues faced within our boundaries.

As with any bureaucratic program, this idea has the potential to create havoc and cause misery that will be beyond our control and leave us no avenue for redress. How far will these people go? Will they go after the states (or other geographic areas) within nation states? Will they try to ban hunting because it involves killing animals? Will they refocus on individuals who they believe are not living up to the arbitrary standards they will impose?

Our country is a sovereign nation and we have rights that are guaranteed under our Constitution. Those rights should not be decided by a bunch of nannies sitting in the Hague.

Maryland Governor Pulls a Ted Kennedy

The governor of Maryland, Martin O’Malley, is a far left politician who governs like most from the left. He takes feel good ideas and runs with them regardless of fact or reason. He has bought off on global warming and intends to make Maryland the model of being green. The boy governor just signed legislation requiring an increase in renewable energy but like all liberals, he does not want the requirements to interfere with life. Ted Kennedy opposed wind farms because they blocked his view and O’Malley opposes them on state owned land because they will take away from the natural beauty of the areas set aside for residents.

“While we must continue to explore and make progress on creating a more sustainable and independent energy future for Maryland, we will not do so at the expense of the special lands we hold in the public trust,” the Democratic governor said.

O’Malley spoke at a news conference at a scenic overlook in the Savage River State Forest. Opponents had claimed that allowing 40-story windmills on state-owned land in mountainous western Maryland would reduce its recreational value, spoil the landscape and lower property values, especially in the thriving Deep Creek Lake resort area of Garrett County. WBAL

I am willing to bet that if the state decides that wind turbines will go in a neighborhood or on lands near a neighborhood he will not allow citizens to nix the deal based on natural beauty or property values. I am quite certain that the lands that home owners hold dear will be confiscated under eminent domain and used for the turbines. The people will have little say in the matter and O’Malley will chide those who oppose as enemies of the environment.

This is just another example of a liberal making a rule that only applies to others. The state should be the leader in this effort and state lands should be used to put up the wind farms. Instead, private property will one day be confiscated for this purpose. Mark my words, private property will be taken for the common good and the harm to property owners will not be a problem the liberals will care about.

If this state wants to put up wind turbines to generate electricity I suggest putting the turbines outside the governor’s mansion. O’Malley is so full of hot air he could power the state for decades. If they ever figure out how to produce electricity from manure then the Maryland legislature could provide power to the country for the rest of the century.
