Obama Finds Out Bush Was Right
Nov 18, 2009 Political
A few days after he was sworn into office, Barack Obama signed an Executive Order to close Gitmo in one year. The egotistical young man had this notion that it was an easy task and that it could be done within a year despite the fact that George Bush had tried for years to move the detainees out of the place. It was evident that Bush had trouble because the task is difficult.
Nonetheless, Obama the brazen decided to make good on a campaign promise and sign the EO to shutter the place. Now there is nothing wrong with trying to shut it down but it is obvious that he overestimated his ability when he put a timeline on the act.
Gitmo will NOT be shut down by Obama’s self imposed deadline. Obama, in a rare interview with Fox News, said he was not disappointed that his deadline had slipped and that he knew it was going to be hard. Keep in mind that Obama’s EO says that the facility will be closed in one year and contains disposition instructions for anyone remaining there at the end of that year.
The detention facilities at Guantánamo for individuals covered by this order shall be closed as soon as practicable, and no later than 1 year from the date of this order. If any individuals covered by this order remain in detention at Guantánamo at the time of closure of those detention facilities, they shall be returned to their home country, released, transferred to a third country, or transferred to another United States detention facility in a manner consistent with law and the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States. [emphasis mine]
So he knew it was going to be hard? Right, if he knew it would be hard he not have given himself a year to do it and he would not have pigeonholed himself with those specific disposition instructions. He is a calculating politician and he does not like to do things that cast him in a bad light. His problem is that he has such an elevated opinion of his ability that he is unable to accurately predict what will happen and when.
It seems as if he is finding out the hard way that it is real easy to claim that one will change the way things are done in DC but that doing it is actually not that easy. He anticipated that his charm would be able to get things done.
He is finding out that it is not as easy as he made it sound. If he had paid attention to Bush rather than bashing him for what was taking place he might have figured out that the task was difficult.
If he had then maybe he would not be admitting failure in his ability to carry out what he says he will do.

Actually Senator, Ma’am Is Fine
Jun 18, 2009 Political
Senator Boxer was questioning a General today and he kept answering her by using the word ma’am just liked he answered the males sir. Boxer did not like that and asked the General to call her Senator because she worked hard to get that title. Talk about petty little things and power complexes. The General was displaying courtesy and he was not inappropriate. Reminds me of COL Jessup in A Few Good Men. Address me as Colonel or Sir, I think I earned that.
“Could you say ‘senator’ instead of ‘ma’am? It’s just a thing. I worked so hard to get that title. I’d appreciate it.”
The general’s response? “Yes, Senator.” Politics Daily
She might prefer to be called Senator but the General did nothing wrong. The Army Training and Doctrine Command states that Sir or Ma’am is an appropriate form of address for a Senator:
How do I verbally address a Senator or Congressman or a Congressional staff member?
“Sir” or “Ma’am” works for most everyone, but more specifically –
House: Congressman or Congresswoman; Representative; Mr. or Ms., Sir or Ma’am
Senate: Senator, Sir, or Ma’am…
So it must have been an ego thing where Boxer had to let the General know who was in charge. Inside I know he had to be laughing at what must have appeared as a bloviating fool.
Someone commented that they should take that soundbite and use it in the commercial for whomever runs against her. They can ask questions and each time have her saying ‘call me Senator, I earned it.’
This was a prime display of an elitist mentality. It was also a display by a person who needs to be replaced.

Cold Shoulder vs In From The Cold
Mar 9, 2009 Political
Barack Obama gave the Prime Minister of The United Kingdom, Gordon Brown, the cold shoulder last week when the leader arrived in DC for his first visit to the Obama White House. Obama did not have the usual full blown press conference or state dinner and reluctantly held a small press conference and it looked like he was less than happy to be there. Brown gave Obama some well thought out gifts and his wife gave the Obama girls expensive clothing.
ME-chelle and the ME-ssiah gave less than stellar gifts. Barack gave the PM a 25 CD collection of American movies (were they in the format that will play in Britain) and his wife gave the boys model helicopters of Marine One (the kind you get in the White House gift shop). This is the way to treat the Prime Minister of our strongest ally?
The chattering class says that Brown is a big boy and will have to just get over it but it does beg a few questions. Did not the Democrats say that Bush ruined our standing in the world? Did not they tell us that they were going to improve our image and make us all friends once again? They claimed they would improve our image in the world but it seems to me they did more to harm our image than Bush ever did. At least George and Laura Bush knew how to be gracious hosts.
The Evil One claimed he was just too darn tired from the exhausting economic problems. The man who is young and full of life is too tired to be a proper leader and host? I guess Hillary was right. She should be the one to answer the phone at 3 am because Obama is too tired to get up to attend to it.
While Obama is wrecking our image in Europe he is working to improve it in Latin America by easing some of the travel and trade restrictions with Cuba. The efforts are seen as a first move in the eventual lifting of a trade embargo that has been in place for decades.
Barack Obama is shunning our free and democratic ally in Europe and at the same time working for closer ties with a Communist country led by a murderous dictator. Yeah, that makes sense.
I guess it won’t be long before Obama is hosting Castro (one of them) or is being hosted by them. I wonder what gifts he will shower them with. As an aside, it will be real interesting to see what kind of press conference he holds with Ahmadinejad when (not if) he is invited to the White House. I suggest a .45 caliber bullet but Obama will probably give him nuclear technology. Perhaps a few real helicopters.
The Brits are up in arms about the way their PM was snubbed (I guess they will have to get over it) and they are not too happy with Hopey Obama and his Klingon wife. They will be paying very close attention to see how people like Castro and Ahmadinejad are received at the White House (if in fact Castro is invited).
I was going to write that this is what happens when you send a boy to do a man’s job but then the race baiters would cry that it was a racist remark even though it is a common saying.
So I will just end by writing that Obama is an empty suit who has NO leadership experience and he is caught up in all the hype about him. He believes the stories of his greatness. The reality is, he is way out of his league.
He should have stuck with community organizing. Then again, he was a disaster at that as well.
Joe Biden, God love him, was the one who said that the White House was no place for on the job training.
That was when he wanted to be president. Now he is Obama’s dutiful lap dog.

Hillary’s Best is Always the Worst
Nov 6, 2007 Link Fest, Political
Hillary Clinton stated today that she was not at her best [examiner.com] in the last debate, ya think? Despite what some people might think, she herself has admitted that she did not do OK. She indicated that she has answered thousands of questions and she has made clear her positions on everything and how she would pay for her programs. This, of course, is a flat out lie. Clinton has not been clear. There are a number of news articles from the past year that show she has taken one position in one location and another position in a different geographic location. He suggestion that she has been open about things is just plain BS and anyone with a thinking brain knows it.
Bill Clinton has refused to authorize the release of documents that would support Hillary’s claim that she gained her experience as First Lady. Let me repeat that for the uninformed, the uneducated, or the plain ignorant; Bill Clinton has done absolutely nothing to speed up the release of documents that have any bearing on the race. He asked that certain documents that related to what he did be released but he specifically said that the communication between him and his wife is not to be released.
These are the cold hard facts and while some Hillary sycophant could claim that it is not she who is holding up the process one would have to dispense with reality by believing that Hillary cannot get the documents released if she wants them released. She has Bill’s testicles in a lock box and in all reality he wants to get back in the White House as badly as she does. He wants the life that comes with living there and she has a strong desire to have her ego stroked. Therefore, I can only conclude that the papers that they refuse to release would damage her candidacy. There are things there that they do not want out in the public prior to the election for one reason and one reason only, they are harmful to the Hildebeast. Rest assured, if those papers made it look like Hillary walked on water without getting her ankles wet Bill would release them yesterday with her in tow to ensure they got out. Since word is they will not be released until well after the election [ABC] we can only conclude that they are hiding something. I mean, they have had eight years to get them ready for issue so the only two things holding it up are Bill and Hillary.
No folks, Hillary has not been straight forward and she has not been honest. Bill has been less than honest as well though none of this should surprise anyone. Bill claims to be working to have papers released quickly when he is actually impeding the process. Hillary says that she has been clear when she has not.
Hillary said she did not have her best night the other night. If she wins in 2008 the country will not be having a good night but that night will not go away. It will morph into a 4 or 8 year nightmare with Satan at the helm.
