The Pig Is The New Democrat Symbol

Forget the jackass, err donkey, the new symbol for Democrats is the pig. Well, it is the symbol for three Democrats who live like pigs. Senators Chuck Schumer, Dick Durbin and George Miller, who share a place, invited Dana Bash of CNN into their DC home (or should I say sty) and what she saw was not pleasant.

There are broken blinds, empty beer cans, rat traps and a partially made bed that Schumer says is the most he has made it up and only for her visit. These guys live like pigs.

There is an old tea kettle and food stains on an old stove and the fridge had a bagel hard enough to drive a nail.

I know there are people all over who live like this but when members of Congress live like this there is a problem. And when they invite a reporter in and actually seem proud of the way they live there is a real problem. I know I would never invite someone into my home if it looked like this.

The sad part is these guys have a combined annual income of nearly a half a million dollars. Couldn’t they hire a maid service and split the cost? How about buying some blinds and curtains (instead of bed sheets) and perhaps a few garbage cans and cleaning supplies? Maybe hire someone to make some repairs and paint the place…

No, that would require them to spend their own money and they do not like to do that. They only spend OUR money.

I understand from the article that the way these three pigs live inspired an Amazon.com series “Alpha House.” They should have called it the Three Little Pigs…

I know I am surprised at how these alleged leaders live but I guess I really shouldn’t be.

They treat their home just like they treat our country.

And that is why they should be sent packing…

Selective Law Enforcement

We already know that selective law enforcement is how the Obama regime operates as evidenced by the way Attorney General Holder handled the New Black Panther voter intimidation. The case was won but dropped. The Secretary of Homeland Security operates much the same way.

During a Senate hearing on illegal aliens and the DREAM Act, a large number of illegal aliens were invited to participate. The people who are breaking the law gathered in one area and were ignored by law enforcement officers. In fact, these law breakers were invited to the hearing.

Napolitano told this subcommittee of the Judiciary Committee that although the large group gathered was part of the population that is subject to deportation; there was no enforcement of the law that morning. Human Events

No law enforcement that morning. I wonder if the Senate would invite mob members or bank robbers to a hearing and then have no enforcement of the law.

Imagine if they had a top ten most wanted hearing and invited the top ten most wanted. If they showed do you think the FBI would have no enforcement of the law that morning? Hell, the police routinely set up stings by having phony events where criminals are invited. Once they arrive they are arrested. Unfortunately, the DREAM Act hearing was not a sting but it was a phony event…

It should come as no surprise that these people refuse to enforce the law. Some of them don’t even know the law. Democrat Senator Dick Durbin said:

“When I look around this room, I see America’s future. Our doctors, our teachers, our nurses, our engineers, our scientists, our soldiers, our Congressman, our Senators and maybe our President. Real Clear Politics

One could make the case that this has already happened nonetheless, we do have a Constitution that forbids aliens, illegal or not, from becoming president. One must be a natural born citizen and aliens do not fit that bill.

Who would expect a United States Senator to know this?

So we have evidence that a Senator does not know the Constitution (the law of the land) and the Secretary of Homeland Security will not enforce the law.

Is it any wonder that our nation is going to hell in a hand basket and we are all out of hand baskets?

This Will Go No Where

Dick Turban, a Senator, will introduce legislation to force companies that sell things over the Internet to calculate and collect taxes for the state (or locality) to which it is shipped. States complain that items bought over the Internet do not have the appropriate taxes collected and they miss out on revenue.

To me this is no different than when someone stops in one state and makes a purchase and then takes the item to his home state. What did the state in which the person resides do to warrant receiving revenue?

The matter will go nowhere for a number of reasons. There are thousands of taxes in many localities and it would be a daunting task to try to program websites to calculate the taxes. To top it off, some states like Maryland will raise taxes on a regular basis so that will mean more work and higher costs for web retailers.

The matter also has some Constitutional issue around it. Matters of taxes are supposed to originate in the House and the man introducing the legislation is in the Senate. Unless he gets someone in the House to introduce it, I don’t see how it can be introduced. Also, this is about state and local taxes so why is a member of the federal government involved in the issue?

Finally, the House is controlled by Republicans and regardless of whether one thinks this is a good idea or not, they do not want to be blamed for imposing taxes on people.

Even if this made it to the Senate I can’t see how they get the 60 votes needed for cloture.

This will be a sticky issue because more and more people shop online. Government likes to find things people do and tax it so it can get more money.

Dick Turban is saying that the playing field needs to be leveled so that brick and mortar stores can compete with Internet retailers.

Why is it that everything has to be a level playing field? Imagine if Major League Baseball required all teams to be the same…

I have an idea though. If Durbin wants a level playing field then have the states and localities eliminate sales taxes all together. Then the brick and mortar stores will be on a level playing field…..
