IRS Agent Not Too Bright

A 43-year-old IRS agent named Jim H. Liu from California has admitted that he filed a false tax return by claiming a loss on the sale of property on which he actually made a profit. This guy actually admitted that he did this deliberately after two months of expert instruction explaining how to avoid taxes. Nominee after nominee for the Obama administration has stepped up to explain that taxes were not paid and that the slight was merely an oversight. Tim Geithner deliberately failed to pay his taxes and he is now in charge of collecting them. He is even threatening those who have failed to pay their taxes. Now this is the way it is done.

Obama’s newest nominee for Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, has admitted that she made a mistake on her taxes and she paid around $7000 plus interest to clear the matter up. She follows Tom Daschle who failed to pay his taxes.

Liu faces three years in prison (though there is no indication he will get that) for cheating on his taxes.

If he had been a nominee for the Obama administration he would have gotten the job, kiss, kiss, all forgotten.

Obama; The Highest Ethical Standards – EVER!

Barack Obama went out on his scare people into supporting the “stimulus” package tour and the questions asked of him were about his nominees who were tax challenged. Obama responded to questions about his nominees who failed to pay their taxes by saying they had made “honest mistakes.”

Obama then went on to say they did not want to give the impression that there were “‘two sets of rules’—one for his administration, and one for everyone else.” Brietbart

All but one of his challenged choices have withdrawn. Timothy Geithner was confirmed to run the Treasury even though he failed to pay tens of thousands of dollars in taxes. Sure he paid them but only after he was nominated. Yes, there are two standards. Geithner KNEW he had to pay the taxes because he signed a document stating he understood that when he received money to pay them. He deliberately did not pay his taxes and he was confirmed. Joe the Plumber was delinquent by a fraction of the amount of Geithner and he was attacked by the left and its media wing. Joe was held to a different standard than Geithner.

Obama’s claim to have the highest standards is a farce. This claim is made all the time after some official writes strong rules. The reality is, there are already standards that government employees are held to and they are pretty tough ones. The regular employees must follow them or they get fired. The elected people are held to that “other” standard.

Let me be clear, writing rules on a piece of paper only means that there are tough standards written down. Failure to follow them means that the administration does not adhere to the tough standards. Obama has already granted waivers for some of his appointees because they could not meet the written standards. Obama has broken his own rules on at least 14 occasions by letting lobbyists serve in his administration.

He can talk the talk but he cannot walk the walk.

Obama said that these were honest mistakes though Geithner’s was anything but and it is unlikely that Daschle’s was either. When Democrats are caught doing something wrong they made an honest mistake. If a Republican does something wrong then it was deliberate and part of a culture of corruption.

Case in point, the War on Terror in Iraq. Nearly every credible intelligence agency in the world agreed with the assessment about WMD in Iraq. Our intelligence agencies gave the same report. George Bush presented it and used it as part of the justification to invade Iraq (only 3 or 4 reasons dealt with WMD).

The left, to this day, says that George Bush lied about Iraq. Never once did any of them entertain the idea that maybe mistakes were made. No, Bush lied and people died. That was the mantra then and it is the mantra now. He is a Republican so he MUST have lied. He and all the intelligence agencies could not possibly have made a mistake so they must have been lying.

Geithner and Daschle, paragons of virtue, well they just made honest mistakes.

Funny thing is Obama remained loyal to Daschle even though he was aware of the tax problems a fortnight before it was made public. Obama was with Daschle up to the bitter end and still pledged support for him even after he withdrew.

When George Bush was loyal he was playing ole boy politics.

Good job Brownie.

Good job Daschie.

No difference at all.

Change indeed.

Obama Nominates Unpatriotic People

The tax cheat that Barack Obama selected to be the head of Health and Human Services, Tom Daschle, has withdrawn from consideration for the office. It was learned that Daschle had not paid over 100 thousand dollars in income taxes. This revelation came on the heels of Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner’s failure to pay tens of thousands of dollars in taxes and the withdrawal of Nancy Killefer who would be the nation’s first Chief Performance Officer, whatever that is. She withdrew because, you guessed it, she failed to pay taxes for her domestic help. The help probably did not have green cards.

What does it say about an administration when its Performance Officer does not perform to well with regard to paying taxes?

So we have three people selected by Obama and all of them had trouble with paying taxes. This would have been a serious blow to his idea of having the most ethical White House but he blew that himself when he made exceptions to his new rules immediately after he signed them. He hired a lobbyist which is the exact opposite of what he promised when campaigning and what he wrote as an order.

While all of this was going on the White House press secretary was busy telling people that this was the most ethical White House in history. I heard it replayed on the radio and I could swear he said they had written down the most stringent rules for ethics of any president in history. Just because you write it down does not make it so. Writing the rules is one thing, following them is another…

So PMSNBC was in on the Daschle departure with Andrea Mitchell telling how she just got off the phone with Daschle and she thought he had been moved to tears. Boo fricking hoo. He is only crying because he paid all that money in taxes and still did not get the job. Newsbusters reports that Mitchell said that even if Democrats were concerned about Daschle’s failure to pay his taxes they supported him publicly. She indicated that the GOP would look like the ones who took him down and kept the president from getting who he wanted:

Later, while speaking to DeMint, Mitchell bristled at the South Carolina senator’s contention that Democrats were also skeptical of Daschle’s nomination. The journalist chided, “Well, Senator DeMint, you can say that the Democrats were uncomfortable as well, but they were all supporting him publicly.” She then lectured, “So, this does read to the public as though the Republicans went after this man, someone that the President very much wanted, and brought him down.”

Let me clear this up for the dimwitted Mitchell. The only person who brought Tom Daschle down was Tom Daschle. He failed to pay his taxes and this revelation comes on the heels of the news that Tim Geithner did not pay his taxes. The GOP did not take this man down, he took himself down.

This, of course, is a major problem with liberals. They do not understand personal responsibility. Daschle is responsible for what he does, or does not do. Many Democrats were not happy with the fact that Daschle did not pay his taxes since the number of them who don’t is rising and the American public is getting a first hand look at the hypocrisy that is the Democratic party.

They like to raise taxes because they don’t pay them…

And people said that Bush gave tax cuts to the rich. Looks like rich Democrats gave themselves tax cuts.

One other thing for Andrea Mitchell. We don’t care who Obama wants. If the person is of questionable character or is not qualified to do the job then that person does not deserve to be confirmed. In this case, Daschle neglected to pay his taxes.

The real issue that people should be focusing on is why is Obama nominating so many unpatriotic people to be in his administration? This is not the Flag pin patriotism (another flip flop now that I think about it) this is about real honest to goodness Joe Biden (he was the smartest man in the Senate you know) said so patriotism.

When discussing taxes during the campaign Joe Biden said:

Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden said Thursday that paying more in taxes is the patriotic thing to do for wealthier Americans. In a new TV ad that repeats widely debunked claims about the Democratic tax plan, the Republican campaign calls Obama’s tax increases “painful.”

Noting that wealthier Americans would indeed pay more, Biden said: “It’s time to be patriotic … time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut.” Scared Monkeys [emphasis mine]

It is patriotic for Americans to pay taxes, especially the wealthy ones. Joe Biden said so.

Geithner did not pay. Daschle did not pay. Killefer did not pay.

These people, who were nominated by Barack Obama, are not patriotic according to the Joe Biden school of patriotism. And though he is not an Obama nominee you can add Charlie Rangel to the list of unpatriotic people because he failed to pay some of his taxes as well.

Is it OK to question their patriotism now?

As an aside, wasn’t it ironic that Joe Biden took a cheap shot at Chief Justice John Roberts for messing up the oath of office and then messed up while swearing in Hillary Clinton? Jammie Wearing Fool

Democrats Have A Taxing Problem

The Democrats are always ready and willing to raise taxes or to eliminate any tax cut that has been put in place. Even though they readily admit that tax cuts help the economy (like when they say we need to hold off on increasing taxes during this economic downturn) they still fail to recognize the benefits once things are better. Democrats always want taxes increased except to the bottom wage earners. They will always cut your taxes because you pay none to begin with.

The funny thing though, is that Democrats don’t like to pay their fair share. Sure, they talk a great game. Bill Clinton once said he should pay more in taxes but he never sent more money into the Treasury to help with the debt. Anyone can do that at any time. John Kerry talked tough about paying taxes but he checked the box allowing him to pay the lower state rate in Massachusetts and his wife made 2.54 million dollars in nontaxable income. The wealthy know where to invest to avoid taxes even as they tell you to pay more.

Look at the number of problems we have had with Democrats recently. Charlie Rangel, the slick talking huckster from New York and Congressman who writes tax policies, failed to pay taxes on one of his properties and he has been gaming the system with regard to homesteading.

Tim Geithner, Obama’s new Treasury Secretary, deliberately did not pay his taxes from 2001-2004. I know they said it was a hiccup or an oversight but he received money to pay them and he signed a form saying he would so he knew about them and chose not to pay them. This is the guy who is so smart he is the only one who can guide us through these economic perils. He was not bright enough to pay his taxes nor was he bright enough to get away with it. How comfortable does anyone feel with his ability to work with money on a much larger scale?

Now it appears as if team Obama has another problem with a tax cheat. Tom Daschle, former Senate Majority Leader and Obama’s choice to lead Health and Human Services failed to pay his taxes and has sent the IRS around 100,000 dollars for the taxes and penalties. This stems from Daschle’s use of a company car and driver which were provided free of charge. He did not report them as income. When Daschle was the Senate Majority Leader he had a car at taxpayer expense and probably figured he was entitled to this…

It appears that Obama did not have such a good vetting program after all. He handed out a questionnaire and asked people to fill it out. He is learning that the people will only provide information they want released but he should have known this all along. He has not released his birth certificate because he does not want the information made public.

Unlike the birth certificate (which, ironically, is under lock and key for the guy who claims transparency in government), the forms Obama uses will eventually be checked and the public will be aware. By then it will have caused embarrassment to the sainted one though there are indications that he knew of the problems and proceeded anyway. And the left skewered Bush for loyalty…

It is funny that the same government that could not get Al Capone for any of his illegal activities such as bootlegging liquor (like the Kennedy’s did) ended up putting him in jail for failing to pay taxes on his ill gotten gains. It is even more ironic that the very government that put him in jail for not paying taxes is now full of people who did not pay their taxes.

But this is the way it is with the do as I say and not as I do Democratic party. Taxes and all the other rules are for the peons. Obama said we can’t have our thermostats set at 72 and expect the world to take us seriously but he has his thermostat so high the Oval Office feels like a greenhouse. Obama said he would be transparent and he has been anything but. Obama promised no lobbyists but he has them and he promised ethics but it looks like some of his nominees are ethically challenged.

All politicians are hypocrites. Democrats are particularly good at it though because they practice it all the time. These people are filthy rich and they do not pay their taxes and at the same time they call for more taxes on the wealthy. Obama chastised Wall Street executives for their greed and irresponsibility and he has nominated people who meet the very definition of greed and irresponsibility to be in his administration.

Not to worry though, Obama said it was a bump in the road and he and Chuck Schumer (a mega idiot) still support Tom for the job. I guess this putz is the smartest man around who can handle health and human services.

Obama has been in office about 10 days and he already has a number of issues that deal with ethics and judgment. He fails on both counts though you won’t hear about most of it in the MSM.

But after all this I have a better understanding as to why Democrats like to increase taxes. Most of their constituency is in the group that does not earn enough to pay taxes and the rest are in the group that just fails to pay their taxes.

Either way, it is the rest of us left to pick up the slack.

I imagine Obama is up to a pack a day after all this.

To Republicans in the Senate; vote no on Daschle.
