But was it? Obama indicated that his vote was a protest vote against the policies of George Bush. One would think that there are better ways to protest policies and one would think that a vote against raising the debt limit would be made on the principle of not incurring more debt.

Hoyer is saying the same thing. It was a mistake but he was voting against the policies of George Bush. To be clear, I do not think it is wise to vote to raise the debt limit (unless serious cuts take place) but my opposition is based on the realization that debt needs to be controlled. Obama and Hoyer voted based on spite and political posturing. They do not mind raising the debt limit, they just did not want to do so when Bush wanted them to.

Big Dog, how could you possibly know what they mind and don’t mind? Because they told me. They are both now advocating for raising the debt limit and claim it would hurt America if we do not do so. If not raising the debt limit will hurt America now then one must conclude the same thing was true when they opposed raising it. They don’t mind more debt as evidenced by their out of control spending. What they do mind is working with the other party to get something accomplished. Make no mistake, if they truly opposed it then I would be applauding them but they did not. They have situational opposition based upon who is in the White House. This demonstrates, as Obama put it, a failure of leadership.

These politicians are trying to quash any backlash they might get by Republicans (who voted for it then but oppose it now thus further showing the parties are not that different) who would use their votes and their words against them. But that ship has sailed. These two made it very clear that they opposed raising the debt limit and how bad Bush and Republicans were for even suggesting that that it be raised.

Now they must live by their words and all the claims of “mistakes” have no significance except among the unwashed Obama followers who long for the chance to touch his robe.

We all know what game is being played and we know both sides are playing it. The difference now is that America has awakened and is paying much closer attention to the financial situation in this country. Americans know we are on a path to ruin and they know that more spending is not the answer.

There are many older Republicans who were in Congress at that time who voted to raise the debt limit and now have a change of heart no different that the one Obama and Hoyer had. However, there are a whole lot of new, young, fresh faces in the Republican Party who were elected to stop Obamacare and to end the run away spending and get control of our debt. That is why they were put in office and that is what America expects them to do.

It looks to me like the Republicans (most of them, anyway) learned from the 2010 election and know they could easily be replaced if they do not do what America wants.

The Democrats, on the other hand, are slow learners and those who are running their sideshow are ignoring the results of the last election at their own peril. They were warned prior to November and they did not listen. Looks like they still have earplugs in.

The debt limit cannot be raised until we get substantive cuts. Republicans should push the Ryan Plan (though I think it could be better) as an absolute must before the limit is raised. They should require that it pass before allowing any vote on raising the debt limit. Republicans should also demand the repeal of Obamacare as part of the deal.

There are plenty of other things we could push and tie into the debt limit increase. Though Obama wants a clean bill with nothing else in it he will have to take a taste of his own medicine. He and his cohorts crammed things in Obamacare and used backroom deals and bribes to get it passed so now he will have to deal with a bill that has absolute cuts in it.

If he and the Democrats are unwilling to accept that then we can shut the place down and default on our obligations.

That would be a true demonstration of the failure of leadership.

Time to play hardball and if they don’t like it, too bad.

Copyright © 2012 Big Dog. Visit the original article at http://www.onebigdog.net/we-need-budget-cuts-now/.

The federal government is out of its mind. It is spending like a drunken sailor except a drunken sailor stops spending when he runs out of money. The government just keeps borrowing and racking up more in the way of a deficit. In the month of February the federal government spent $223 BILLION dollars more than it had come in for the month. That’s right, the federal government had a bigger deficit for February than it had for the ENTIRE year of 2007.

The second biggest deficit for a month was last February and that too was on Obama’s watch.

We are working without a budget because the Democrats failed to pass one and their previous spending is entangled in everything. They have added funding to Obamacare (is that a derogatory term, well screw them), they spent nearly a trillion dollars in stimulus for which we have little to show and they continue to allow the bills to pile up.

Not to worry though. That intellectual powerhouse Michael Moore says we have plenty of money and that America is not broke.

For those of us on this planet and living in reality (as opposed to being the size of a planet and suffering from dementia like Moore) the truth is we don’t have any money. We owe more than we take in and we have a mountain of debt that equals our entire year’s GDP.

Obama has spent faster and more than nearly all the presidents in history combined and now, as his beloved pastor might say, the chickens have come home to roost.

We need to take an axe to the federal budget. We need to eliminate all duplicate programs and redundancy and we need to cut the budgets of all federal agencies. We can cut the waste first and work on the agency budgets next.

This MUST be done. Moore and the Democrats might think we have money but we do not.

The adults are in charge now and the credit card needs to be cut up. We need cuts and we need them now.

If Democrats don’t get on board then we need to cut them as well.

Never surrender, never submit.
Just make me president:

Department of Agriculture? Gone.
Department of Commerce? Gone.
Department of Defense? Reduced by 75% (Bring all troops home and station them on the border).
Departments of Education, Energy, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development? Gone.
Departments of Interior and Labor? Gone.
Department of State? Reduced by 75%.
Department of Transportation? Gone.
Departments of Treasury and Veterans Affairs? Reduced by 75%.

Man, that would be awesome. Yeah, I like to dream of freedom and an America that’s free to advance and increase. The number of jobs that would appear (not “created” by government) would be astronomical.

Copyright © 2012 Big Dog. Visit the original article at http://www.onebigdog.net/obama-cuts-defense-and-adds-illegals/.

I have had a go around with several people who claim that Resident Obama is actually increasing Defense spending. It is true that Obama has increased the budget 4% but he took the war funding, which was not part of the Defense budget (it was funded from other sources) and placed it under Defense but the money did not go with it. This means that The DOD will have a budget cut.

As has been reported, the 4% increase in defense spending proposed by Secretary Gates is actually 4% less than what the Joint Chiefs of Staff wanted; and, if taken alongside the fact that this budget attempts to fold in spending previously funded by supplemental war budgets, the supposed 4% increase is actually a $8 billion cut in defense spending. The Army is worst hit by folding supplemental spending into the base budget, as it was receiving the most ad-hoc funding for Iraq and Afghanistan. Ace of Spades

Ace goes on to explain this for those who care to look at it. It is easy to understand but in DC math this is considered a budget increase. It definitely is NOT.

While all the grenades are being lobbed around by the bumbler in chief, he continues to throw so many things at the public that it cannot keep up. On top of the economy, the omnibus, the trillions in spending, the 90% taxes to punish people whose contracts were honored, Iranian rockets, North Korean missilesm bows to kings, ACORN and the census, shooting pollution into the sky to cool the planet and all the other distractions, Obama is now ready to make millions of ILLEGALS into citizens.

Drudge is reporting that the New York Times will have a page 1 story tomorrow on Obama’s plan:

IMMIGRATION BILL THIS YEAR: Obama to begin looking for illegal immigrants to become legal, NY TIMES planning to lead in Page Ones on Thursday, newsroom sources tell DRUDGE… Developing…

It is time to gear up for a big fight. We cannot allow millions of lawbreakers to become citizens. They broke the law and we need to get rid of them when we find them. We cannot afford to have these blood sucking leeches be rewarded for breaking the law. You get more of what you reward and if we reward these people with citizenship then we will get more and more ILLEGALS coming here expecting the same deal. The amnesty that was provided two times before was billed as necessary to take care of the problem and it would never have to happen again. Now we are looking at millions more becoming citizens, being rewarded for breaking the law.

I read somewhere that immigrant groups (the ones that work hard to help illegals) had John McCain at some meeting looking for his help on this issue. I remember that they all left without a warm and fuzzy feeling because McCain indicated they were on their own. I believe he told them that they made their choice by picking Obama and they needed to go to him for what they wanted.

If I am not mistaken, McCain was basically telling them that he put his neck out for them during the last amnesty debate and bucked his own party which ended up costing him political capital. His message was, I was there for you and in the election you overwhelmingly supported Obama so go ask him for help, don’t come to me.

If that is true then maybe McCain finally got the message. We need to be tough on this. Pay close attention because this is all about politics. Democrats want to increase the number of votes they receive and they can do that by rewarding ILLEGALS with citizenship. Any member who votes for this needs to be voted out of office in 2010. They need to know that is what their vote will cost them.

We will see how this pans out when the NYT publishes the article.
