Obama’s Double Standard
May 19, 2008 Political
Barry Obama is quite upset because the Republicans in Tennessee have used snippets of his wife in an ad. His wife Michell is seen making her statement about being proud of America for the first time in her adult life. On Good Morning America Michelle Obama was asked about it and Barry interjected (kind of lends itself to the Clinton supporters assertions that he is dismissive of women) and said that he is sure that Republicans would pour over every word he said and distort it but that his wife was off limits.
“I’ve been in public life for 20 years. I expect them to pore through everything that I’ve said, every utterance, every statement. And to paint it in the most undesirable light possible. That’s what they do.”
“But I do want to say this to the GOP. If they think that they’re going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful. Because that I find unacceptable,” he said.
Obama praised his wife’s patriotism and said that for Republicans “to try to distort or to play snippets of her remarks in ways that are unflattering to her I think is just low class … and especially for people who purport to be promoters of family values, who claim that they are protectors of the values and ideals and the decency of the American people to start attacking my wife in a political campaign I think is detestable.” ABC
Barry, your wife made it acceptable to address her comments when she made them. She injected herself into this contest and by making her remarks she opened herself to criticisms of those remarks. If you think that your wife will run around making comments with impunity simply because you find it unacceptable then you are out of your mind. Your people certainly made no bones about attacking things that former President Clinton said. In this contest he is a spouse. Your wife’s comments are as open to scrutiny as his are and she will not get away with saying things and not being held accountable because you find it unacceptable.
Let us address another issue. You claim that Republicans distort or play remarks in an unflattering way and yet you ignore the very acts committed by your party. Where were you when Howard Dean and the DNC aired an ad that took John McCain’s words about being in Iraq for 100 years totally out of context. Where were you when this ad gave the impression that McCain said we would be at war for 100 years when the entire context, which is known to everyone, is that we would have established bases like we do in Europe and Asia and that he was OK with that as long as our troops were not being injured or killed? Where were you when Howard Dean defended the ad as an accurate portrayal of what McCain said?
Where were you Barry, when the newspapers and on air media were distorting what John McCain said about Hamas to give legitimacy to your point of view? Where were you when they left out a portion of the answer tot he question to give the appearance of a different answer that more closely resembles your point of view.
I know where you were in both instances. You were right up there with your party repeating the lies and deliberately distorting the truth for political gain. You were heavily involved in the deception and deliberate manipulation of McCain’s words as recently as this past week. You Barry Hussein, are a hypocrite. You cry and complain about the tactics of your opponents and ignore your own use of those very tactics. You are not a new politician, you are a charlatan, a poser, a deceiver and a lying coward who lacks the courage or ability to find fault in your own game before pointing at others.
Your wife made the statements. They are not snippets and they are not edited. She said it plain as day and it is obvious to everyone what she meant. Live with that or put a muzzle on her but either way I don’t give a damn what you find unacceptable.
Is it racist for the pot to call the kettle black?

Teacher, Barack Cheated
Feb 19, 2008 Political
Yesterday the news was in bold letters across Drudge with follow up red letter links. Hillary Clinton’s campaign accused Barack Obama of plagiarism. There were side by side shots of Deval Patrick and Barack Obama and Obama’s words were nearly identical to those of the Massachusetts Governor. It was later revealed by Obama that he used Patrick’s words and that he should have attributed them and for his part, Patrick said that he encouraged Obama to use them. Obama is correct, he should have attributed them to the source but he did have permission to use them. There are newer allegations today by the Clinton campaign showing that Obama has used Patrick’s words at other times.
The use of the words of others without attribution is disturbing even though Obama had permission to use them because without attribution he is giving the appearance that he came up with them and they are his thoughts. Joe Biden was forced from the presidential race years ago for using someone’s words without attribution (he did not have permission either). Certainly some words and phrases are so famous they need no attribution because people know the source but for the most part, borrowed words and phrases should be attributed to the source.
While it is disturbing it also appears as an act of desperation on the part of the Clinton camp. These kinds of claims basically tell the world that you are not able to attack the substance of the candidate’s positions so you are going after these types of issues. The major problem is that someone will pour over Clinton’s words and find where she has used something without attribution. Of course, this is not uncommon in politics because many of the buzz words are used by everyone. Change is the theme of a lot of people but until Obama started parading it around the others did not make it central. Once it was working for him Hillary became the candidate of change. Then, they all became change agents of some sort. Catch phrases are just that and none of these candidates has a copyright on them even though Obama played tit for tat by saying Hillary had used his words.
This whole issue looks more like the squabbles of kids on the playground rather than the actions of people who want to have the the most important job in this country. Clinton might have been better off not addressing it (she will wish she had not if they find she did the same thing) and leaving it for the media (she certainly knows how to leak things to them) and Obama would have been better off to just say he should have attributed it and then moved on. As it stands now, they both look like children trying to play an adult’s game.
Each of their supporters will use this episode to spin things in favor of their candidate but in the end they both end up looking like immature school kids playing games where Hillary looks like a whiner (teacher, Barack said so and so) and he looks disingenuous (I am saying this from the bottom of Patrick’s heart).
I guess one cannot blame Hillary because she is dropping like a rock and she needs something to throw him off track. In the end, this will end up being more divisive for the Democrats and since the Clinton campaign is out with new allegations, it looks like this will not blow over any time soon. The only thing Obama has going for him is that words are the only thing put in his mouth unlike what happens with a certain Clinton in office…
I can only hope it puts a big enough dent in his armor to force a brokered convention. That is where the real fun will be.

Hillary: Begging Pathetic, Crying is Not?
Jan 16, 2008 Political
Hillary Clinton said that it was pathetic that President bush was in Saudi Arabia begging them to increase production in order to lower the price of oil. She stated that we need an energy independence policy right now with what she calls “green workers” to eliminate our dependence on foreign oil.
First things first. The world depends on fossil fuels. They are here for a reason and that reason is for us to refine them and use them. The fact that we have to get a lot of it from the Middle East is the fault of the Congress. If they would allow us to build more refineries and to drill on our own property for oil then perhaps we could reduce what we import.
It is also important to remember that many companies are working on other fuels but that it will take years of research before we have alternate sources. Ethanol is wasteful and uses more energy to produce than it provides. We have a long way to go but for the time being we must depend on oil. Nuclear energy is also an option but while Hillary was chiding the president for trying to get the price lowered she was bashing plans to store nuclear waste in Nevada. Nuclear power would go a long way to reducing our dependence.
I guess Hillary is having fun taking a shot at the president and saying he was begging. Let me ask you Hillary, what would you do, cry?

Is New Hampshire Hillary’s Exit Poll?
Jan 7, 2008 Political
If we are lucky, by this time tomorrow Hillary Clinton’s campaign will be gasping for its last breaths of air and it dies a long overdue death. I realize that even if she loses New Hampshire she could go on but there are indications that many of her supporters have secretly said she is not going much further and there are also indications that she is or will soon be strapped for cash. What once seemed a juggernaut of political and money raising efficiency is now heading down to the bottom very rapidly.
Hillary was out giving a please vote for me speech today when someone asked her how she does it. Hillary got tears in her eyes and her voiced cracked a few times during her answer which largely consisted of her her desire to make the country better and her beliefs blah, blah. The truth is Hillary expected to be the next president. She has been planning her chance for years and her pact with Bill looked like manifest destiny when she was way ahead in the polls and raising millions upon millions of dollars. She started out asking people to max out by giving the largest amount possible for both the primary and the general election. Now she is just asking for the amount needed to continue in the primary.
Hillary Clinton spent a fortune in Iowa and has a third place show for it. She has blown millions of dollars to convince people to vote for her and it is not working. She has brought out the big guns in her husband and while he is exciting many people it is because of their cult like worship of him and his decadent ways and not so much for her. They seem not to like her very much and I don’t really blame them. Hillary was all set to be the next president and now it looks like she might bow out. This is why she is crying though some might think she is trying to show she is actually a caring human. In reality, she can hear her dreams shattering and that shatter sounds like Senator Obama.
The other thing to consider is if she gets this emotional about this campaign how will she handle any issues that arise if she were president. Seems that this is the take that John Edwards has on the event and who could blame him? If Hillary drops out he has a better chance against Obama.
