Andy Harris is a Great Candidate for Congress
Jun 12, 2008 Political

I had the opportunity to attend a fund raiser for Andy Harris. Andy is running for Congress in Maryland’s 1st Congressional District. I have been a supporter of Andy Harris since he announced he was running and, as many of you who read this blog know, I worked hard at exposing the failings of Wayne Gilchrest, the RINO who is currently the Representative from the 1st. Harris beat Gilchrest by a pretty good margin.
Andy Harris is a true conservative but more than that, he is genuine. I met him tonight and I immediately felt that he was sincere, warm, dedicated, and committed. In other words, he wasn’t playing “politician”. He seems like a man of the people who has the best interests of the constituents at heart. It is common in the Army to call a great leader a soldier’s soldier. These are leaders who belonged to the soldiers, not the politicians. Omar Bradley was one such person. Andy Harris gives the impression of being the civilian equivalent of a soldier’s soldier in that he belongs to the people, not to the politicians or political machine. It would probably pain Andy to see the comparison to a soldier since he is an officer in the Naval reserve. Take heart Andy, it pains me every time Navy beats Army in football…
Former Governor Bob Ehrlich was there as well and he gave a nice talk. I met him and I, for the life of me, cannot figure out what Marylanders were thinking when they voted for Ehrlich’s opponent. I imagine there are quite a few people with a bit of buyer’s remorse right about now. Governor Ehrlich had some nice things to say about those of us in attendance and about Andy Harris.
I supported Andy Harris right out of the box because I listened to him and I read about him. He gave every appearance of being a true conservative and the kind of person we need to have in Congress. I worked to ensure his primary opponent was taken to task for of all his failings because I wanted to ensure a real conservative won that seat. I have to admit though, a little part of me was concerned that I might be backing someone who would turn out to be a typical politician (but nearly anything would be better than what we had).
After meeting Andy Harris tonight I no concerns about him whatsoever. I can say without reservation that this man is a genuine leader who will serve with honor and dignity. You could not ask to meet a nicer person. A big plus is that he is a doctor and not a lawyer. Congress has enough of them already.
Andy Harris has an interesting biography and I recommend you go to his site and read it. I am not permitted to solicit donations for any candidate so I will just say that if you are so inclined to donate to him, you can find the necessary information at his site.
Andy Harris in 08!

Did Congress Outlaw its own Acts?
May 26, 2008 Political

Mark Steyn wrote an excellent piece entitled “Too Bad Your Car Can’t Run on Congress’ Hot Air” in which he looks at the way the House hauled oil executives in to grill them over the price of oil and gasoline. Steyn makes excellent points about the process and then what the House did to screw itself with a vote called the NOPEC vote.
Earlier I wrote a post and I indicated that I did not get the name of the Congresswoman who was asking the stupid questions and Steyn mentioned her and the inane line of questioning. Her name is Debbie Wasserman Schultz and she actually made this statement:
“I can’t say that there is evidence that you are manipulating the price, but I believe that you probably are. So prove to me that you are not.”
First of all it is impossible to prove a negative and second of all why would someone have to prove they are NOT doing something wrong? The burden of proof is on the government or those making the accusation. Perhaps we should all send letters to Wasserman Schulz stating that there is no evidence she is taking illegal campaign contributions but we suspect she probably is so she needs to prove that she is not. How retarded is she and why did the people in Florida put this Yenta in office? If I had been the oil executive I would have chewed this dingbat up and spit her out all over the walls of Congress. She would have been whimpering in a corner wondering why she asked such a stupid question. Steyn makes it clear that his answers are a reason he is not asked to testify in front of Congress.
After this show for the American people (it had nothing to do with gas prices because the Congress and the oil companies cannot control them) the members of the House voted 324-82 for the so called NOPEC Bill which states:
“It shall be illegal and a violation of this Act to limit the production or distribution of oil, natural gas, or any other petroleum product … or to otherwise take any action in restraint of trade for oil, natural gas or any petroleum product when such action, combination, or collective action has a direct, substantial, and reasonably foreseeable effect on the market, supply, price or distribution of oil, natural gas or other petroleum product in the United States.”
OK, let’s look at this in a couple of ways. First of all do the members of the House actually think OPEC gives a rodent’s derriere how the price and distribution of a product is affecting the US? The OPEC nations are a cartel that is not subject to US law and is not subject to the whims of the US Congress. Congress cannot make it illegal for other countries to do what they want with the products that they produce. Imagine how these very people would act if Iran passed a similar bill making it illegal to withhold any item we currently refuse to sell them? Our Congress would laugh and say Iranian law does not apply so who the hell are we to make laws that apply to other countries?

Having said that I think we should do whatever it takes to get this through and have the President sign it without delay. It should become the law of the land immediately. You see, as Steyn points out, the US is in violation of this Bill. The refusal of our government to allow drilling (Wasserman addressed this during her lunatic rantings) in ANWR, off the coasts and in the Gulf and in any number of places has caused the price of gas and other products to rise. Wasserman and Schumer can say drilling here will not make a difference but they use that Congressional math that NEVER adds up.
The fact is if we started building more refineries, stopped with the boutique blends of gasoline and drilled for and pumped our own oil, we would be able to regulate part of the market. We would influence how much oil is produced and how much is in the market which would affect the prices. When supply is greater than demand then prices go down. If we pump and use our own oil we can decide how much it should cost without outside influences. I doubt we will ever be able to pump enough to be independent but we can certainly put a dent in the prices.
Steyn is absolutely correct in that the US is the biggest violator of this Bill and that is why I say that we need to get it signed quickly before the Democrats and their environmentalist wacko friends realize that they will not be able to stop drilling if this becomes a law. The President can sign it into law and then immediately level charges at anyone opposed to drilling. Congress will have no choice but to allow drilling (and anything else associated with our energy needs; nuclear, refineries etc.) because opposition to such would be in violation of the very law they passed. So, for those who wonder why any Republicans signed on, maybe this explains it.
If this all took place and we could finally start going after our own oil and building more refineries because of a law the Democratically controlled Congress aimed at other countries it would be a great example of the expression “to be hoisted by one’s own petard.”
This is all a great demonstration as to how Congress is so arrogant that it cannot see it is the biggest violator of the Bill. I wish someone would have pointed that out to Debbie Yenta Wasserman. I don’t think she would have had an answer but it would have been fun watching her babble on.
It is not nice to pick on retards but she and the others in Congress make it so easy…

Democrat Admits Party Lied to Public
May 24, 2008 Political
Jay at Stop the ACLU (video there) has a great pot up of Congressman Kanjorski who admits that the Democratic Party stretched the facts (and people ate it up) about ending the war and they did this just so they could win back Congress. He admits that what they said was not true and that anyone who was a good student of government would know it was not true. And yet they did it.
“I’ll tell you my impression. We really in this last election, when I say we…the Democrats, I think pushed it as far as we can to the end of the fleet, didn’t say it, but we implied it. That if we won the Congressional elections, we could stop the war. Now anybody was a good student of Government would know that wasn’t true. But you know, the temptation to want to win back the Congress, we sort of stretched the facts…and people ate it up.” [emphasis mine]
I’ll take it further, they claimed that if they won they would stop the war. It was not an implication at all. After they won they tried to stop the war and they said the last election showed that people wanted it but they could not do it. They claimed they would stop the war right along with their claim that they had a plan to bring gas prices down. Neither turned out to be true.
It comes as no surprise that the Democrats lied to take Congress back. The fact of the matter is all politicians lie and sane people know this. This is why it amazes me that people who supported the Clintons for years are astonished that Hillary got caught in a lie (more than one). They have been lying for decades and no one caught on. Most other politicians are not as open about it and certainly not as open as Kanjorski.
Ladies and gentlemen, as you go to the polls this year thinking that the Democrats and the Obamessiah will end the war and fix everything that ails you remember that they lied to you about the war and many other issues just to regain control. They will tell you anything in order to get elected and now we have an admission of this.
The Congressman noted that those who were students of government (or at least followed it) would have seen the truth. This post is for those of you who cannot name the three branches of government or think that government is designed to take care of you from cradle to grave. This is for those who are not students of government but are mindless sheep who follow the flock.
One last thing. We have heard that Bush lied and people died for 5 years now. The Democrats said they would end the war but it has now been admitted that they lied. Is it fair to now claim the Democrats lied and people died?

Absolute Abuse of Taxpayer Money
May 1, 2008 Political
WCBSTV has uncovered a story that is beyond belief and it involves the waste of taxpayer money by members of the House of Representatives. It seems there is a loophole that allows them to lease vehicles at the expense of taxpayers and there appears to be no limit as to how much they spend on the lease. Taxpayers also foot the bill for registration, insurance and the GAS. No wonder these chowder heads are not concerned about the price of gasoline. It is not bad enough we have to pay a fortune to fill our vehicles but we also pay to fill theirs.
Charlie Rangel of New York drives a Cadillac DeVille, and taxpayers are charged $774 per month ($9288 a year) to cover the lease.
Then there was Congressman Jose Serrano, getting out of his Buick LaCrosse, which he leases for $317 per month. And how about this one: Congressman Gregory Meeks was recently seen waiting for Congressman John Conyers to step out of Meeks’ Lexus LS460, which Meeks leases for $998 per month.
Charlie Rangel justified his extravagance by saying that his car is an office and that his constituents appreciate driving in comfort. I wonder how many of them are comfortable enough to have someone else paying for their cars? Rangel’s explanation was absolutely pathetic and it, along with the other members and their expensive leases, shows the contempt members of Congress have for the American public and our hard earned money. If Rangel’s car is paid for by taxpayers and he uses it as an office (his reasoning for havng the car) then it begs the question, has he ever conducted campaign business while in the car? If so, did he violate the Hatch Act?
The story tells of several members who lease much less expensive cars as if we are supposed to hail them as great people looking out for our money. Some people stated that they should all drive cheaper cars.
Wake up people and ask the right questions. Why in hell are they driving cars we pay for? Why are they not paying for their own vehicles just like the rest of us do. This is why these idiots think people are entitled to benefits paid for by others (health care, mortgages, education); because they get extravagant things paid for by us. To top it off, that jackass Rangel is always pushing for tax increases. How dare this maggot waste money and then demand more?
This also points out the hypocrisy of these idiots with regard to the environment. The vehicles mentioned are larger ones that use a lot of fuel. They are not “green” and they leave large carbon footprints. At the same time these jackasses are asking us to conserve they are driving around in gas guzzlers that we pay for.
This is absolutely criminal and everyone of these jackasses should be removed from office immediately. It is high time Americans revolted against this kind of abuse and the attitudes exhibited by people like Charlie Rangel. Perhaps we need to organize and refuse to pay taxes until ALL wasteful spending is eliminated and ALL members of Congress are replaced. They must all resign or they don’t get one stinking cent. We need to throw tea in a harbor and take back this country.
I am at the point where I absolutely hate every stinking one of the members of Congress. They are criminals and they abuse us every chance they get. They waste our money and then take more of it and they do not bat an eye. They come up with excuses as if they are privileged elite and how dare we peons ask them about their abuses. Rangel’s response demonstrates that he is out of touch. It is not like these people don’t make enough money to afford a car. They only work 100 days a year and they get $167,000. They are worthless, ineffective, and smarmy.
I am sure that members from both parties do this but it is worth mentioning that the ones mentioned are all Democrats. You know, the party OF the people…
It is absolutely ironic that the only people who would not have been missed were spared death on 9/11.

Calling the Democrat’s Bluff
Apr 23, 2008 Political
Prior to the 2006 elections Nancy Pelosi put out a memo telling people that the Democrats had a plan to lower gasoline prices. Her memo discussed many items that Democrats, if placed in charge, would do to lower prices and ease the burden of rising fuel costs. Two years later the plan has yet to be revealed and the price of gas keeps rising. This year alone it has gone up an average of nearly 30 cents a month.
This plan must be like the mystical plan that John Kerry had for everything but refused to reveal. It is typical for the Democrats to claim they have plans but to be rather short on details. Barack Obama is no different. he talks of hope and change but other than promises to increase taxes and spending he lacks any specifics on how he intends to accomplish things and he does not state exactly what change he is looking to effect.
Back to the gas plan. The Republicans in Congress have sent a letter to Speaker Pelosi respectfully requesting that she release the plan she claimed the Democrats had oh so long ago. I doubt we will see a plan because none really ever existed. Democrats are big on making empty promises and hoping that people will not remember them. In the state of Maryland we have a governor who did this very thing in the run up to the 2006 elections. He promised that he would lower the electric rates that consumers in the state pay. The rates went up 75% and will increase again this summer (the new rates are justified and Democrats are the ones who caused the sudden increase).
I believe that this letter from the GOP is their way of politely saying to Speaker Pelosi, “Put up, or shut up.” If only it were that easy.
