Sheehan Requests That Which She Refuses To Give

Cindy Sheehan and her ever growing group of people who fall in the category of “Nothing better to do” have been protesting down in Texas for what seems like 10 years. They are constantly on the news and attempting to bother the President, who is supposed to be on vacation.

Now Ms. Sheehan’s mother has suffered a stroke and she (Cindy) went back home to be with her. Her simple request is for privacy. I am sorry to hear about her mother and I pray that she will do well yet I am puzzled by Sheehan’s request. For some time now all she has done is parade in front of cameras and stir up trouble in a fashion that takes the grieving process quite a bit outside the bounds of normal. Now, she wants privacy. I wonder why she has not considered the same with regard to Crawford? I understand that George Bush is the President and he will always be in the spotlight but perhaps Ms. Bush would like a little privacy.

I think remarkable restraint has been exercised thus far. I imagine if this sort of thing would have happened while Clinton was on vacation in New England the protesters would be swept away like road dust. Yet we get a relentless vigil by a half crazed woman who takes every opportunity to get her face in front of a camera. She has little regard for the residents of Crawford who would probably like to live in their peaceful town uninterrupted by these noise makers.

Perhaps Sheehan should look at her request and then look at what she is doing. Maybe if she comes to her senses, she can give the people of Crawford and the President’s family what she is now requesting. Maybe she will realize that while her son’s death is tragic, her actions will not do anything to change those circumstances. Perhaps the illness of her mother coupled with the death of her son will help her realize that it is important that she spend time with people she loves while they are still here.

Interesting you should mention Clinton since he was treated to a witch-hunt 3-ring circus by Kenneth Starr and Gangrage (which I know I muddled the spelling off).

Interestingly, since the beginning of Carter’s presidency, the Presidents who took the least amount of “vacation” time are Carter, Clinton, and Reagan and in that order. The Bush’s like to spend a lot of time away from Washington, apparently.

And while I agree that Cindy shouldn’t get privacy now when she’s been desperately trying to get attention for over a year, if anyone was concerned about Laura Bush’s privacy, then her husband should have thought about that before running for President.

Oh, and those cameras would be in Crawford even if Cindy wasn’t there. You know how the Bush’s like to get caught on camera biking, hunting, fishing and golfing.

Well, that would be one way to look at it. Clinton spent a lot of time on small vacations but he probably did not have a “long vacation” because he spent so much time out of the White House on fund raising trips. He also spent a lot of time not doing his job, but he was with women who were not his wife. He might have had more vacation time but it is hard when every time you turn around there was another scandal to take care of.

You can call it a witch hunt but Clinton brought it on himself. His wife was neck deep in illegal activities and was hiding documents from officials and Clinton was busy trying to cover up his wrong doing so much so that he lied under oath. It might be easy for the majority of the left to dismiss their activities but in doing so display their own ideas as to values.

As for Ms. Bush. Unlike Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush is not co-president and deserves to have privacy. Funny, they like to be caught on camera, not unlike the Clintons who were “accidentally” caught on camera dancing on a beach so it would look like all was hunky dorey in whoville.

Cindy Sheehan has carried this way too far. If Bush walked out there and met with her today then tomorrow there would be some other reason for her activities. She has the DNC’s hand inside her back moving her mouth and head.

    It’s all about perception.

However, I think the Dems didn’t latch onto her until she started getting attention…that attention she sought, which is why she doesn’t get to have her privacy.

GWB is not on vacation; presidents of this fine country never actually get a day off the way we regular joes do — they are on call 24/7, 365. Although he’s “visiting” his home, he’s had meetings with foreign dignitaries, daily security meeting, trips to at lease two different states to sign legislation, and several press conferences. I wouldn’t call that a vacation.

While the Clinton’s weren’t “formally” on “vacation” as often as the media has decided to define it (remember that the Clintons didn’t even own a home until Hillary wanted to run for senator in NY), they certainly spent big Federal bucks on traveling the world. They were the most traveled presidential couple ever.

Maybe Bill Clinton didn’t go “home” to New York . . . sorry, Arkansas. . . often. Perhaps he didn’t have a “cherished ranch” because he lived off the Arkansas and US taxpayers for most of his adult life and didn’t own a home until he left the office of President. Instead, the Clintons set records as the most traveled Presidential couple in history: 59 countries/territories, many they visited more than once. In fact, their trips to Chile, Africa and China in 1998 cost the taxpayers a whopping $72 million. If we could have kept the Clintons in the country a bit more, we may have solved the Social Security issue without a problem. They independently raised the standard of living in Africa by spending $42.8 million during the 12-day trip. For the mathematically challenged, that’s about $3.6 million a day! For most of us, Africa on $5,000 a day would be “the kind of break most Americans can only dream of.”

The above from my post concerning this issue.

Hillary was actually deep into the Democratic political machinery before Bill officially opted for a political life. Her first post-law school coup was the Nixon/Watergate investigation. There were some in far-left of the party that thought supporting Bill’s political aspirations would ruin Hillary’s own chance for political greatness. (You have to remember the women’s movement was much more militant back then.) Guess the verdict is still out on that one.

  6. Big Dog says:

    That would be Hillary CLINTON.

Her makeover for the White House includes dropping her last name (like Cher or Madonna) so people will not link her with the scandal that plagued her and Billy-Bob. So I just wanted to throw in the last name, CLINTON, to remind everyone and associate her name with the corruption she has been involved in.

    Big Dog:

Where on Earth did you get the idea that she has dropped her last name? I’ve never heard of this before and it sounds pretty fishy to me…

Read Rewriting History. It was not a legal drop, just a makeover drop.
