Separation Of What?

A judge has sentenced a man who used racist words while threatening a black cab driver has been sentenced to spend six weeks (once a week on Sunday) at a black Church. The judge, who is black, over stepped his bounds by letting color get in the way. He said, “It seems readily apparent to me that you don’t like black people. That’s OK with me. But you have to understand that you are at the whim and authority of a black judge.” This allows his personal views to get in the way. When white judges preside over cases where white defendants are accused of crimes against a black guy and the white guy wins the case, there is always a call for review. We constantly hear that the judge let the guy off because he is white. Now we have a black judge allowing his views to interfere with the law.

The judge offered the guy 30 days in jail or 6 weeks at the Church but was worried about the so called separation of Church and state so he asked the defendant if he would be offended. This is a novel idea. Let us survey Americans and see if they are offended by In God We Trust on our money or the words Under God in the pledge. Let us ask if anyone is offended by the word Christmas or religious displays in government buildings. Then, applying the same standard this judge used, we can let the majority rule and not have to worry about this separation issue again.

This judge allowed his desire for revenge to cloud his decision but opened a big door for the rest of us who are tired of being silenced by the ACLU and others who seek to remove all religion from our lives.
