Sarah Palin Cleans Their Clocks

Hockey Mom; She shoots, she scores!

Sarah Palin just finished her speech at the Republican National Convention and she was absolutely brilliant. She introduced herself and her family. She discussed her career and personal life and she made the case for John McCain. Then she went after the Democrats and she did to them what Jesse Jackson could only talk about doing.

I think she left no doubt that she will be no pushover and that she can hold her own. Obama made a mistake when he ignored the fact that she is a governor not one but twice. He recently said that he had more executive experience than she because he has a campaign staff of a couple thousand with a monthly budget three times the one she had as mayor. He ignored the fact that she is a governor for good reason. Her budget is 11 billion dollars annually and she has about 25,000 people she is in charge of. His experience cannot match up to hers and he knows it. If he were not worried about her he would not be trying to prove he has more leadership experience.

Obama’s camp came out with its statement immediately after her speech. They indicated that her speech was written by George Bush’s speech writer and demonstrated the same divisive politics that Bush did. The campaign also said that McCain agreed with Bush 90% of the time and the country should not go for a 10% change.

I wonder if Obama will tell us which speech writer wrote his speech. I also wonder if he realizes that his speech near his palatial stage was full of divisive politics. He was vicious to John McCain and Republicans. I guess that is not divisive because he is a Democrat.

Palin eviscerated and emasculated Barack Obama and she smiled the entire time. She demonstrated that she will not be taken lightly and that she has a bit of bulldog in her. I said before that the Democrats were afraid and I am even more convinced of that. Want more proof? Joe Biden said today that an Obama would pursue criminal charges against George Bush if elected in November. There is only one reason this was said. Biden said it to ensure he can pull those Democrats who are upset that impeachment is off the table that they need to elect Obama to get what they want. It was a statement made out of FEAR.

I think that Saracuda has them worried and shaking in their pants. They might say otherwise but I can smell the fear. As Ann Coulter put it:

The bien-pensant criticized Palin, saying it’s irresponsible for a woman with five children to run for vice president. Liberals’ new talking point: Sarah Palin: Only five abortions away from the presidency.

They claimed her newborn wasn’t her child, but the child of her 17-year-old daughter. That turned out to be a lie.

Then they attacked her daughter, who actually is pregnant now, for being unmarried. When liberals start acting like they’re opposed to pre-marital sex and mothers having careers, you know McCain’s vice presidential choice has knocked them back on their heels.

But at least liberal reporters had finally found someone their own size to pick on: a 17-year-old girl.[bold emphasis mine]

Palin rocks. The libs are squirming, and they should be. They are frightened of her. Obama, take notice, this is what the country needs and wants and will vote for.

  2. GodsModernDayMartyr says:

Thanks, Dog! She was Awesome! Because of Sarah, John McCain now has my vote and support. My favorite part…everytime she looked dead into the camera with that smirk…aimed at…we know who! God has rewarded His true and faithful servant! She has yet to recieve the prize…which will be on Nov. 2, 2008!

  3. Austin says:

I just had three friends (two Independents, one Libertarian) contact me to say that after Gov. Palin’s speech they have made up their minds about the election.

They were shocked by her cynicism and anger and were appalled by her speech. One friend told me that Palin should, “leave the one liners to comedians” and that he “wished she would have focused on an issue rather than constant jabs.”

I have to agree. I’ve heard so much about Ms. Palin’s public speaking ability and was really hoping that this would be knock the election up to a new level. I walked away with my image of Ms. Palin shattered.

She wasn’t a tough standing boundry breaking woman. Palin’s speech was equal to a myspace rant not a presidential campaign.

Her speech rallied the base, no doubt. But it failed to reach undecided voters and certainly turned off many potential voters.

If she’s ready for the challenge she’s certainly going to get it.

  4. Austin says:

If was looking to court potential voters, Huckabee would have been a much better VP pick.

  5. ADB says:

Hmm. I didn’t draw any anger from Gov. Palin’s speech. She certainly included more facts that O’Hitler ever has.

The thing that keeps getting me is, when it comes down to facts and ONLY facts, McCain/Palin blow Obama/Biden out of the water every. single. time. And yet, the Dems refuse to acknowledge that, and instead resort to generalized statements like, “McCain is just another Bush” or “Palin was angry and vicious.”

What I want to know is, what exactly did she say that was so much more “vicious” than anything Obama or Biden have said at one point or another? I didn’t hear anyone crying and whining about how “vicious” Obama was toward McCain during his grandiose speech last week. Yes, there were some insults, and yes, there were some degrading remarks made by Obama…so where’s the outrage about those?

  6. chrys says:

    A monumental night of words!

  7. Kim Spinney says:

I am grateful for the fact that McCain made a great decision. This country is not ready for a baby killer to be its President. Just look at the two couples standing next to each other. John and Sarah, Obama and Biden. Who looks to be an evil couple. Enought said. Sarah believes evil is mostly out of this country, Islamist Terrorist. Obama believes evil is found in this country, in the streets of LA. The elite, political correct and evil doers will not succeed.

  8. Big Dog says:

Austin, you are an admitted liberal who will vote Democrat no matter what and I suspect your toadies are the same. But if you think it made no difference then perhaps you should read what these Hillary supporters are saying

  9. David Kirk says:

With a combination of intelligence, wit, charm, femininity and toughness, Govenor Palin set a new standard for women in politics in America. Senator McCain will have a hard time trumping her tomorrow night. She should be an incredible asset to the Senator as he becomes our next President. She is an example of the real people that make up the vast majority of America. I suspect she will be a future President.

  10. Austin says:

There were plenty of people outraged by Senator Obama’s speech. And for one thing Senator Obama never mocked John McCain. Comparing Senator McCain to President Bush is one thing. Making comments such as “after he parts the seas and heals the sick” is quite another.

Had Barack Obama made the same claim about Senator McCain then it would have touted as “mocking the Bible.”

And, if you would like to discuss facts how about these:

-John McCain had the worst attendance record for the 110th Congress. Even worse than Senator Tim Johnson who had a brain hemorrhage.

-When 53 senators supported the new GI Bill, John McCain did not.

-When 75 sentors voted on the GI Bill, John McCain did not.

-While Barack Obama receives only a B+ from the Iraqi/Afghan War Veterans it beats John McCain’s D.

-Disabled Am Vets give Obama only an 80% support rating but John McCain receives only 20%.

Out of the 645 votes for the 109th Congress, Barack Obama missed 11 while John McCain missed 58.

Out of the 229 votes of the 110th Congress, Barack Obama missed 23 and John McCain missed 118.

Sarah Palin claims that Barack Obama can author two bestsellers but no major piece of legistlation.

Barack Obama authored over 150 pieces of legislation including a highly important bill that is keeping weapons out of foreign terrorists hands.

Also, an MSNBC poll just asked undecided voters if Palin’s speech made them more likely to vote for John McCain:

    Yes- 19%
    No-66%

As Peggy Noonan stated, “It’s over.”

  11. Austin says:

For the record I am not an “admitted liberal” I said I was a registered democrat. And when Biden dropped out after the Iowa caucus I vowed to vote John McCain.

Also, I thought we were hear to discuss issues not my party affiliation. And if party affiliation discounts my opinion than you obviously have a one sided view of the world.

And if you think I’m “liberal” and so are my friends please note that I grew up in a very small, Republican Iowa town. I am a strong supporter of the second amendment and the death penalty. Also, instead of protesting the war I don’t believe the Bush Admnis response was big enough to fight the terrorist threat. I am hardcore survivalist and in the process of becoming a commissioned Air Force officer. I was raised by a family of firefighters and veterans of WW2, Korea, Vietnam, the 1st Gulf War, and Iraq.

Yep, that sounds pretty hardcore leftist to me.

And for the record, if we’re gonna get down and dirty, to ADB:

I praise Senator McCain’s efforts to cut pork barrel spending, but I respectfully disagree with him on a number of issues. But I would never disrespect an elected official, let alone American Citizen by mocking his name.

Now does anyone actually want to talk about an issue or this just gonna be mud slingin?

  12. Austin says:

Oh and my mom was a Bristol Palin only instead of coming from family with money to support her she was from a family of farmers who were dealing with the farm crisis.

Once again, that’s hardcore elite leftist for ya.

  13. Big Dog says:

Austin, I stand corrected. I must have misunderstood what you wrote earlier.

You seem to think that you owe it to an elected leader to not make fun of a name or whatever. Let this noncommissioned officer of 24 years explain this. As a military person you are bound by certain rules. As a citizen, I and all others may say what we want because they work for us, we do not work for them. They are unable to give me a job but we hire them for theirs.

In reality, Obambi is not my Senator so I do not hire him and he does not work for me. I certainly do not work for him. But you should always remember that they work for you. If you forget it they will take advantage of you.

And Palin’s family worked hard for what they have. It is not like they were born with silver spoons in their mouths. They earned that money by working. So while it is sad your mom was poor, it is not a knock on Palin to have earned money.

As for anyone’s political beliefs, they are welcome here so long as they follow the rules. Those who act like idiots are moderated. you don’t seem to fit in that category.

I disagree with McCain on a number of issues but I disagree with Obama on ALL of them.

    See how that works?

  14. Big Dog says:

Al Democratic talking points. McCain did not support the GI Bill for a reason and it was not because he hates the military.

Name one significant piece of legislation he authored and was passed? Obama has been campaigning for two of his four years in office.

If you want to vote for the guy go ahead. I know he will not do what he says except raise our taxes.

I do not like Communists and Obambi is a Communist.

Do you really think that MSNBC has a representative sample? I imagne it would be completely reversed if asked at Fox. All those people at the Hilary site (some 15,000 comments) plan on voting for McCain.

It is over, yes, for Obama.

  15. Austin says:

As for the hillaryclintonforum there is no doubt that John McCain’s pick of Palin is historic. But that’s it. It’s historic and nothing else.

It certainly worked to sway a few Hillary Clinton supporters but the majority of Clinton supporters followed her for more than her reproductive organs.

Sarah Palin is not Hillary Clinton and anyone that believes Sarah Palin will deliver any campaign promise that Senator Clinton made (except that a woman would be in the white house) is in for a rude awakening.

  16. Austin says:

I’m voting for Barack Obama because I want to see Joe Biden in the White House.

I’m a staunch supporter of Senator Biden and was hoping to see a McCain/Biden ticket….unfortunately that didn’t happen.

If John McCain is elected President, even though I didn’t vote for him, I will still watch his speechs, applaud some of his efforts, and give him the same respect that I would Senator Obama.

I don’t charge that McCain hates the military, but I still think he should have voted for the GI Bill. Even if it may discourage some from becoming noncommission officers I still felt the GI Bill was important.

Also, perhaps the most important piece of legislation authored by Obama was the Lugar-Obama Nonproliferation Act. Bush signed it into law and it’s purpose was to expand the State Department’s abilities to locate WMDs and destroy them.
It also aids other countries in detecting conventional weapons that could be used against US troops in Iraq. It’s helping to keep anti-aircraft missiles from al Qaeda.

  17. Victoria says:

Austin, what about “Integrity, Goodwill, and a Servants Heart”, “Putting government back on the side of the people,” and “Energy Independence from people who would do us harm,” is so angering? Yea, she took a few jabs at Obama and the left, but then everyone on the left has been accusing her of being a bad mother, of her husband of being the father of her daughters baby, of her faking her pregancy of their last child, of her taking earmarks, and on and on, I don’t even know them all. So what if she jabs back a little. As far as I have seen the left creates a scandal and tries to literally destroy anyone they disagree with instead of just disagreeing but I don’t think they are going to be able to destroy this woman.

“Sarah Palin is not Hillary Clinton and anyone that believes Sarah Palin will deliver any campaign promise that Senator Clinton made (except that a woman would be in the white house) is in for a rude awakening.)

Sarah Palin is not Hillary Clinton, you are right, but she is not trying to be Hillary Clinton. She is not selling her soul to the devil for the position of President. Hillary stayed with a sex addicted adulterer so she could keep her marriage status for her future Presidential run. Hillary Clinton will do or say absolutely anything to aquire that title, she is that power hungry. And I might add that Hillary Clinton herself said Obama is not ready to be President.

  18. Adam says:

Dems are not scared of McCain/Palin. You’re kidding yourself by saying that’s so.

This isn’t 2004 with John Kerry running a feeble campaign on the road to losing against the worst president in the history of the US. This is Obama/Biden, a well oiled campaign machine with overflowing coffers, massive ground support, and coming off of a victory in the most popular, most hard fought Democratic primary in the history of the party.

All of this combined with resounding victories in 2006 in Congress and in state governments, you’d be hard pressed to find a Democrat really scared of McCain/Palin.

Should they be scared? Maybe. I don’t think so though. I’m certainly not shaking in my pants.

  19. Reason says:

Why are you a “staunch supporter of Senator Biden” Austin?

He more than any other Senator should be held responsible for our current energy crisis. Why? He was a Senator during the fuel shortages of the 70s and should have been working all this time (almost four decades) to reduce America’s dependence of foreign energy yet he’s supported the Democratic “No Drilling” policies that keep us dependent on foreign oil. He was there for Carter’s windfall tax on oil companies and should know what a failure these policies are, yet he supports Obama doing the same. He cannot learn from history and experience, that alone should be enough to disqualify him.

I will give him credit for a much tougher stance on defense, the military, and national security than Obama.

  20. ADB says:

O’Hussein will never cease to amaze me – and not in a positive way.

In an interview with Bill O’Reilly today, he claims that the surge in Iraq has succeeded “beyond our wildest dreams”.

Excuse me? Is this the same guy that, just a short while ago, was spouting about how big a failure the war has been? And, just recently, his VP pick stated that they would pursue criminal charges against Bush?

It’s enough to make your head spin. Thank goodness for blogs like this one that set the record straight.

  21. Austin says:

Victoria, there a tons of left wing bloggers engaging in the age old “mommy wars” debate just as there are tons of right wing bloggers who had a hayday over the Jeremiah Wright scandal.

However, both Senator Biden and Senator Obama have NEVER criticized Gov. Palin about her abilties as a mother. So the National Enquirer is running a story about Palin. Big deal. Most people don’t consider the National Enquirer as anything more than a joke. They print those stories because they make money.

As Senator Obama stated to the press, people need to BACK OFF of Gov. Palin’s personal life as it has nothing to do with her abilities as a Vice President.

And I find it blatant hypocrisy that you scrutinize Hillary Clinton’s ability becuase of the actions of her husband. A personal issue that should be off limits, just like any personal issue of Gov. Palin’s.

As for Palin’s speech: A friend of mine, and myself, viewed her tone as angry, not our reaction. As Joe Biden stated, he’ll “challenge Palin, not attack.” I’ve heard so much about her public speaking ability and was really hoping this speech was going to set things up for one intense VP debate.

It wasn’t a horrible speech, she has delivery. It certainly riled up the crowd. She tried to come off as a tough talker but instead came off as snarky and bitter. Her speech seemed fit for a FOX news or Keith Olbermann “special comment.” Not a presidential campaign.

Her quote “We tend to prefer candidates who don’t talk about us one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco.” was quite interesting especially since she later touts that she told Congress “thanks, but no thanks on that Bridge to Nowhere.” That bridge that was the basis of her 2006 “Build the Bridge” campaign. Palin was quoted in the Anchorage Daily News in 2006 that she felt the pain of residents of Ketchikan when politicians called them “nowhere.”

But I guess it’s ok to talk to people in Ketchikan one way and in St. Paul another.

Reason- I am a staunch Biden supporter and remain one. I’ve met the man twice and he knows what he’s talking about it comes to agriculture and foreign policy. He’s one of those rare Senators that knows what he’s saying.

Biden can literally pull out a map and show you exactly how and where Bin Laden escaped. He’s the man that while every other Democrat was screaming about Iraq he was in the corner saying: wait a minute we gotta look at Pakistan and Afghanistan. He also recognizes Russia as one of the biggest threats.

And for the record Biden as recieved high marks from the Campaign For American Future which advocates energy independence. And Biden voted FOR the Bush energy plan.

  22. Saracuda ROCKS THE HOUSE! (Updating with new links all day)…

I was afraid to get my hopes up last night – I mean, I adore Sarah Palin, I think she’s a breath of sorely-needed fresh air, and I think she’s a brilliant choice to the Republican nominee for Vice-President, but I’ve had high hopes dashed before….

  23. Austin says:

I did find someone who was miffed by part of her speech. An Alaskan based blog stated that “most of us here in small town America didn’t find it funny.”

I guess just recently the big news in Palin’s homestate was that a child and her babysitter were mauled by a pitbull. The child was placed on life support in a vegitative state. The girl’s father returned from his deployment in Iraq to be there when they pulled the plug.

  24. Austin says:

I forgot to include that my last post was in reference to Palin’s pitbull joke. The blogger believed that given recent big news in Alaska, Palin’s joke was tasteless.

  25. Homerun Sarah Barracuda…

I loved Sarah’s speech. It seemed more like a conversation than a speech. Were there any memorable statements? Drill Baby Drill! I loved her attack on the press about her not having any experience…

  26. Victoria says:

Well, Austin, you might find Biden admirable but in order to get him in the Whitehouse, you are going to have to have Obama. And I am sorry but as far as I am concerned, there is a saying that you know a person by their friends and Obama just has too many good friends who hate America and I am sick of people feeling apologetic for America because of Iraq. There was an article in the Patriot Post with these words “Indeed, as I previously summarized in an essay entitled, “Why the Left can’t get it Right,” ask liberals about some manifestation of their worldview—for example, why they support a charlatan like Obama—and their response will be predicated by, “Because I feel…”

On the other hand, ask conservatives about what they believe, or why they do or don’t support John McCain, and their response will be predicated by, “Because I think…”

And I find it blatant hypocrisy that you scrutinize Hillary Clinton’s ability because of the actions of her husband. A personal issue that should be off limits, just like any personal issue of Gov. Palin’s.

I don’t scrutinize her ability because of actions of her husband. Let me tell you I have had experience with power hungry women and they would do just about anything to get that title they are after. Stab anyone, step on anyone, sweep under the carpet any scandal, stay with any man regardless of what the man does to them and it doesn’t matter to them if they are qualified either, only that they get that title. The title of POTUS for a woman is going to be quite a deal just like for the first black person but I read another article by a black professor written to black people who are set to vote for Obama purely on the grounds that he is black and he said that in this country it will most likely happen but that doesn’t make this black man the right one.

  27. Bunny Colvin says:

    Victor-

I read an article written by a white professor written to white people who are set to vote for McBush purely on the grounds that he is NOT black and he said that white men win elections all the time but that doesn’t make this white man the right one.

So what is your point? And when did you (r)epukes start listening to professors?

    PEACE

  28. Victoria says:

There you are Bunny, Where have you been lately?

  29. Victoria says:

Still as angry and sarcastic as ever are we?

  30. Bunny Colvin says:

I’ve been kicking (r)epuke a$$ on the golf course. That’s where I’ve been.

    Angry and sarcastic…Me???

I’ll ask again, your point? And when did people like you start listening to professors?

    PEACE

  31. Victoria says:

You can’t be serious–you didn’t understand my point? My point was that just like Obama is not the right black man at this time neither is Hillary the right woman at this time.

  32. Bunny Colvin says:

Because some unnamed professor said so?

    PEACE

  33. Austin says:

Victoria, I don’t know if you recall but at a Barack Obama speech in Florida there was a large crowd of black men from Florida who showed up to heckle Senator Obama because they didn’t believe he was black or had done anything for the black vote.

And no, Hillary is not the right woman at this time or any other. I think she’s a self serving politican. She’d be good MAYBE as a cabinet member but I think she belongs in the Senate.

And you scrutinize Senator Biden because of his associations. His associations such as Benazir Bhutto or Mikheil Saakashvili and for many years in the senate John McCain?

Yep, better not trust Biden….he hangs out with that John McCain…..

And if you’d like to start the debate on “friends” you’ve truly opened a can of worms. Need we mention the Bush family friends in Saudi Arabia? Need we mention that for quite sometime the Bin Laden family was on the board of the company making money off the Bradley fighting vehicles in Iraq? The same board that George H.W. Bush sat on?

Yep, looks like McCain’s definately a better pick thank goodness he hangs out with the Bush clan who are so close with those Saudi’s who trickle money down to al Qaeda.

And actually the majority of the black American population will vote for Obama because of their party affiliaton rater than race. Most black Americans are registered democrats. So touting as a race issue doesn’t have much backing.

  34. […] friends. Why don’t I just list them with their names and titles? Here they are: Big Dog – Sarah Palin Cleans Their Clocks. Stop the ACLU – Bulletin from Wasilla. There’s My Two Cents – Who is Sarah Palin? […]

  35. Bunny Colvin says:

    Austin-

Victor likely has no idea about the connection between the Bush family and the Saudis. Though she masquerades around as some kinda well-read citizen of the world, the only writings she ever cites are penned by unnamed “black professors” and fiction writers like Jerome Corsi. She’s never read Secrets of the Kingdom by Gerald Posner. Of that much I can assure you.

    PEACE

  36. Victoria says:

“And you scrutinize Senator Biden because of his associations. His associations such as Benazir Bhutto or Mikheil Saakashvili and for many years in the senate John McCain?”

I have not scrutinized Biden because of his friends. And I have definitely scrutinized Bush and his Saudi ties and never have I said that I totally support Bush or McCain. Actually, I think it is all a good ole boys union but let me ask you this–do you need a GD government bureaucrat standing up there and telling you how he can cure all your problems when it is the GD government bureaucrats who have caused most of our problems in the first place? The only parties who sound like they even sort of get it is the Constitution Party, Independant party and coming in last the Republican party. McCain is a lite Democrat but I think he is hearing the conservative base more so. Another question I have for you–when is the end of excellence and the beginning of “you need to be taxed more you capitalist pig?”

Though she masquerades around as some kinda well-read citizen of the world,

I am just a middle-aged housewife who works as a cashier. I don’t masquerade as anything of the kind. I have quoted things I have read on the internet, however, and articles and such that friends email to me. No, I have not read Secrets of the Kingdom by Gerald Posner, however, I will look into it.

  37. Victoria says:

I should say I am just a middle-aged housewife who works as a cashier, you know the kind who clings to guns, and religion because I am so bitter.

  38. Big Dog says:

There is no evil or sinister connection between the Bushes and the Saudi royal family.

But tell me, how chummy were the Clintons and the Arafats?

  39. Victoria says:

Well here is a quote for you–
“The Clinton administration wooed and cooed Yasser Arafat for eight years. He was invited to the White House more often than any leader in the entire world. And what did America get in return for this diplomatic largesse? More leverage with Arafat? Precisely the opposite. Clinton’s obsessive intervention and eternally open door showed Arafat that there was no price to be paid for either humiliating the United States, as he did at Camp David, or plunging the region into crisis, as he did weeks later when he began his now year-long guerrilla war against Israel.”

  40. Bunny Colvin says:

“There is no evil or sinister connection between the Bushes and the Saudi royal family.”

The Wise Canine has spoken. It must be true. Please.

    PEACE

  41. Big Dog says:

The key Bunny is evil or sinister. There is a close relationship but there is no effort to undermine our country.

It is called reading comprehension twinkie.

  42. “I suspect she will be a future President.”

Yukon Barbie?? I sincerely f*cking hope not.

If this “hockey mom” with very little executive experience “but she was a mayor of a really tiny town!!”. That may be true, but she had a city administrator running things for her! And left the town with serious debt. But wait..she then went on to run the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission…no..that had only 22 people, and half of those were executive assistants, no help there!

As Governor, she gave the Legislature no direction and budget
guidelines, then made a big grandstand display of line-item vetoing
projects, calling them pork. Public outcry and further legislative
action restored most of these projects–which had been vetoed simply
because she was not aware of their importance–but with the unobservant
she had gained a reputation as “anti-pork”.

So, anything she didn’t like got labeled as pork, and was a no go.

She hates polar bears, but no one here cares about them either, just throwing that one in there.

And now for Claim Vs. Fact!

•“Hockey mom”: true for a few years
•“PTA mom”: true years ago when her first-born was in elementary
    school, not since
    •“NRA supporter”: absolutely true
•social conservative: mixed. Opposes gay marriage, BUT vetoed a bill
that would have denied benefits to employees in same-sex relationships
(said she did this because it was unconsitutional).
•pro-creationism: mixed. Supports it, BUT did nothing as Governor to
    promote it.
•“Pro-life”: mixed. Knowingly gave birth to a Down’s syndrome baby
BUT declined to call a special legislative session on some pro-life
    legislation
•“Experienced”: Some high schools have more students than Wasilla has
residents. Many cities have more residents than the state of Alaska.
No legislative experience other than City Council. Little hands-on
supervisory or managerial experience; needed help of a city
administrator to run town of about 5,000.
    •political maverick: not at all
    •gutsy: absolutely!
•open & transparent: ??? Good at keeping secrets. Not good at
    explaining actions.
•has a developed philosophy of public policy: no
•”a Greenie”: no. Turned Wasilla into a wasteland of big box stores
and disconnected parking lots. Is pro-drilling off-shore and in ANWR.
•fiscal conservative: not by my definition!
•pro-infrastructure: No. Promoted a sports complex and park in a city
without a sewage treatment plant or storm drainage system. Built
streets to early 20th century standards.
•pro-tax relief: Lowered taxes for businesses, increased tax burden on
    residents
•pro-small government: No. Oversaw greatest expansion of city
    government in Wasilla’s history.
•pro-labor/pro-union. No. Just because her husband works union
doesn’t make her pro-labor. I have seen nothing to support any claim
    that she is pro-labor/pro-union.

Final Thoughts with a few recaps:
    1. A poor record: Her only political experience has been a few years as mayor of a small town in Alaska and less than two years as governor of that state. Her record wasn’t so great: the small town she left behind is now in financial ruin.

    2. She has no experience with national level politics. At the time of this posting, many of her views on national policy issues are unknown simply because she is so inexperienced that she hasn’t even made public statements about them. Presidential history scholars believe she may be “the most inexperienced person on a major party ticket in modern history.” Even more inexperienced than Senator Obama!!

    3. She has no foreign policy experience. None. AT ALL.

    4. Iraq War? Our country is in the midst of a war, and Palin’s son is going to fight in that war. However, Salon.com reports that she hasn’t even given much thought to the Iraq War, and has no clear opinions about it. Well that’s JUST what we need, innit?

    5. She is a creationist, and she wants “creation science” to be taught in public schools. Oh. Shit.

    6. She doesn’t believe in man-made global warming. Maybe that’s why she supports drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge?

    7. Not only does she think the government should be telling people who they can and cannot marry, she also thinks that same sex couples should be denied benefits given to straight couples.

    8. Palin has been accused of abusing her power as Alaska governor to try to get her ex-brother-in-law fired as a state trooper. An investigation is underway.

    9. She has messed up views on wildlife protection. Enivornmentalists are appalled by her support of a $150-per-wolf bounty program. She’s also supported the use of government money to educate people about how great it is to shoot bears and wolves, and she doesn’t want the polar bear to make it onto the endangered species list.

    10. Even if they aren’t true, rumors about her pretending to be pregnant to cover up her teenage daughter’s accidental pregnancy are not going to help her image.

    11. Ninja editing: Her Wikipedia entry needed to be cleaned up before the public announcement that she was McCain’s VP pick.

    12. She has no clue about the role of the Vice President. This alone scares the hell out of me. I learned this in Fourth or Fifth Grade. (Is she smarter than a Fifth Grader?? Apparently not!!)

    13. It is quite clear she was chosen just because of her gender (most Republicans have never even heard of her), and she’s being used as a trick by the McCain campaign to gain some of Hillary Clinton’s supporters.

  43. Big Dog says:

Nichole, you really should stop getting the DNC talking points. It makes you look ignorant.

    1. Her political experience demonstrates more executive experience than Obama. Even if she only served one day as Governor or Mayor, it is more than he has served. He has never led anything. Community organizer is not a leader and certainly not more of one than a Mayor or Governor. Look at the mess Obama left behind.

    2. This is not true though I have seen no Constitutional requirement for it. She visited Afghanistan before Obama did. Carter and Clinton (Bill) had no National level experience and you guys elected them so it did not matter then but does now?

    3. She negotiated a gas line deal with Canada and has been involved in the deployment of her National Guard. That gives her more Commander in CHief experience than Obama.

    4. Perhaps she wanted to keep her thoughts to herself with regard to state politics. I am sure she has given it a lot of thought. I bet she is giving the impression that she knows little so she can clean up on people who take her for granted.

    5. This is false. She believes that children should be allowed to discuss both theories in school. There is no proof that evolution is true but it is taught. Only 13% of the country believes in evolution and about 80% believe that they are here because of God. What is wrong with discussion> Besides, she said it should not be part of the curriculum. http://www.newsweek.com/id/157986

    6. I don’t believe in man made global warming and neither do a lot of people. This is a theory that has no proof. The Earth has been warming and cooling for thousands of years. As many scientists do not believe it as do and many believe that it is related to sunspot activity. That activity has been slowing down lately, notice that it has been cooler?

    7. Marriage is the union between a man and a woman. Same sex couples already have most of the benefits that normal couples have. Yes, they can visit in a hospital (anyone can if you let them).

    8. The reality is that she had nothing to do with it but the guy needed to be fired. He tazered his 10 or 11 year old kid.

    9. She is messed up in YOUR view of wildlife protection. Who says you are right. We hunt plenty of animals that are overpopulated. Polar Bears are not endangered, there are more now than before. The libs put them on the list to prevent oil exploration and pipelines to be installed.

    10. This is an insane argument. The left made this up out of thin air and now she will pay for something that is untrue? I guess then, the fact that Obama was a Muslim as a child will hurt him. Even if it wasn’t true he would suffer?

    11. Wikipedia is not a reliable source. ANYONE can edit an entry. I can go in and write anything I want (and I have). It was cleaned up to get the stuff people that are NOT Sarah Palin wrote in there. People like you write Wikipedia. It is not a worthy resource.

    12. Once again, I bet she is playing dumb to lure idiots into the trap. But in all reality, the VP has one major job. Be president of the Senate and cast tie breaking votes. Then to take over if something happens to the president.

    13. Only clear to you. It is amazing that you libs are so sexist. If I said that Obama was chosen because he is black you would call me a racist (though that is in part true). She is competent, charismatic, young and energizing. She has a greater than 80% approval rating in Alaska and she knows how to lead. Barack Obama was an unknown until recently. Most people wondered who this guy challenging Hillary was. Now he is the nominee.

You are free to think what you want but get the facts straight. Vote for whom you want.

I find it interesting that people like you who say people like me smear Obama and that it isn’t right are out smearing Palin.

What will you do when she is sworn in?

  44. “Carter and Clinton (Bill) had no National level experience and you guys elected them so it did not matter then but does now?”

You guys?? I wasn’t even freaking born when Carter was President, nor old enough to vote for Hillbilly, so don’t put that on me!!

Marriage is between a man and a woman according to you fundamentalist christian beliefs. How does it effect you to have two guys or two women you don’t even know, nor will ever come in contact with get married. Why does this bother who?? WHO CARES???

Hey, I talk trash about Obama too, he’s probably the flim flammiest used car salesman ever, and I never ever said once that I was voting for him. Ever.

I vote no confidence. I’m just pointing out that Palin isn’t the golden girl everyone says she is, and he positions on numerous things scare the hell out of me.

I’m picking on both major parties, because they both suck, so don’t automatically label me as democrat, because I am not! There are more than two political schools of thought you know.

I’m not attacking you! Don’t get all defensive.

I do not like her, she tried to ban books for goodness sake, then tried to fire a librarian who didn’t comply, this startles me as an advocate of free speech, and also an avid reader, I love all literature, and I think that removing it from the general population is a bad bad idea. If you don’t like to read or hear or be exposed to certain things, don’t, it’s that simple, but don’t keep it from the rest of us.

And the abstinence only education thing obviously doesn’t work, we’re not even getting into the proof there, because I feel horrible about what Bristol is being drug through due to crazy liberals having nothing else to talk about. Talk about the pot and kettle hypocrisy.

I don’t want Obama in either, but I want Palin even less, which is why I can’t in good conscience vote. I however, love McCain, I strongly disagree with him picking Palin, but I do love him, for his sacrifices for me, even before I was a me to begin with. But if he gets elected and something bad happens to him, then it’s Palin as President, and her policies really do scare me. Which is why, like I said, I cannot vote at all.

I wish I could vote for whom I want, I really do.

What will I do if she is elected? Suck it up I suppose, there really isn’t anything else I can do.

  45. Big Dog says:

Nichole, I am not defensive because I don’t think you could really attack me and do any harm.

I agree that both parties are bad. I just think one is worse. We should replace the Senate with the first 100 people who walk into Wal Mart.

Think before you write. Palin DID NOT try to ban books. Go to snopes.com and look it up. Just to clue you in, some of the books on the list had not been written yet…

Obama is running against McCain. McCain is a good and honorable man. You like him then why not trust his judgment?

  46. The truth lies somewhere in the shades of gray that we don’t see on first look. You are right, and I am wrong. This will be the last time I ever admit this to a guy, so enjoy it, lol.

I laughed hysterically at the Wal-Mart comment, then realized that (again) you have a good point, aside from the greeters, which would bring the number down to 99, I guess you can have the 100th seat.

I dunno about the not harming you part though, my exes have said that I have pretty sharp claws. Mostly harmless and mostly good though.

I will take your advice, and do more thinking before posting on thins, I appreciate the criticism.

McCain is awesome, yes that’s true, kinda grouchy, hehe…but I would be too if I were him.

I’m hoping I was completley wrong about Sarah Palin, I’m off to do more reading, so we’ll see.

Thank you again for showing me I was wrong, then giving me the right information. I really do appreciate it.

  47. Big Dog says:

Nichole, we are all in this together. It just works nicer when we listen instead of yell but that is the atmosphere in our political landscape.

No person who runs for office will be perfect. The last perfect guy who was here they nailed to a cross…

Have fun and if you find things, let me know. I am interested in learning.

Although, I was one of the ones calling for Palin long before anyone knew about her. I heard her name mentioned on a show and looked her up. I like her and I think she will be great (not because she is a woman but because she is smart). She has flaws like the rest of us but they are tolerable…

And, you were not wrong, just misinformed…
