Remember The Fallen

Today is the day we honor those members of the military who gave their lives for this country. Let us be happy that such people existed.

“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.”
— Speech at the Copley Plaza Hotel, Boston Massachusetts (7 June 1945), quoted in Patton : Ordeal and Triumph (1970) by Ladislas Farago [Source]

  1. Adam says:

A handy flow chart explaining the GOP rules for Democrats and the military.

  2. Blake says:

This was supposed to be a tribute, Adam, nothing more or less- but trust some POS progressive to go that EXTRA step in politicizing this post.
Why? Just COULDN’T leave well enough alone?
Are there nothing but traitors in your family? Is it genetic?
    I pity you, Adam-

  3. Mike Radigan says:

Adam, as someone who served and lost friends, I find your post repulsive.

  4. Adam says:

    Mike and Blake:

    What can I say? Wow.

When you’ve come up off your fainting couches please direct your attention to Big Dog’s “Related” link in this post which blasts Obama and calls him a “national disgrace” for not attending Arlington.

Ah, but that’s not politicizing the post is it, Blake? That’s not repulsive to you is it, Mike? Morons. Please examine the flow chart again since you pretty much verified everything it is making fun of.

    • Big Dog says:

And herein lies the Alinsky problem. Adam misrepresents what the related post is about. The disgrace is not that he did not go to Arlington (Bush was there 7 times and at Normandy the other).

The disgrace is that he did not know what Memorial Day was about. Read it carefully and you will see the distinction. It does not surprise me you did not catch it because you don’t know either.

Leave it to Adam to embarass himself.

  5. Adam says:

I found a picture of Mike and Blake clutching their pearls and fainting dead away at the sight of me daring to counter clearly silly Republican attacks on Obama for not attending Arlington.

  6. Mike Radigan says:

Adam, Dog’s link was specific criticism while yours was a cartoon farce. And yes I am still repulsed clutching my pearls. And omitting his name, here is one such friend who paid the ultimate price at 22 years old:

    SN – E3 – Navy – Regular

    Length of service 1 years
His tour began on Nov 15, 1967
Casualty was on Jan 11, 1968
    In BA XUGEN, SOUTH VIETNAM
    HOSTILE, GROUND CASUALTY
    GUN, SMALL ARMS FIRE
    Body was recovered

    Panel 34E – Line 29

    • Adam says:

“Adam, Dog’s link was specific criticism while yours was a cartoon farce.”

Think on, pal. I was simply responding to Big Dog’s link to a vitriolic attack on Obama. Take up your beef with the Big Dog before you start smearing me.

  7. Adam says:

    Big Dog:

Keep trying. Blake and Mike couldn’t read and they overreacted like the fools they are. The subject of the attack means nothing. You’re still linking to a political attack on Obama in your post about Memorial Day. As Blake said: This was supposed to be a tribute, Big Dog, nothing more or less. Oh, I forgot. IOKIYAR.

    • Mike Radigan says:

Adam, no one cares if you dispute Dog’s post, knock yourself out. Just don’t do it referencing Memorial Day with a joke.

      • Adam says:

Get over yourself Mike. No one here is mocking Memorial Day or the loss of your friends and loved ones so shelve your phony outrage.

  8. Adam says:

And surprise surprise. The attack you posted is just another piece of right wing garbage that takes a quote from Obama out of context to blast him.

    Obama’s full statement:

It’s fitting every day to pay tribute to the men and women who wear the uniform of the United States of America. Still, there are certain days that have been set aside for all of us to do so. Veterans Day is one such day – when we are called to honor Americans who’ve fought under our country’s flag.

Our calling on Memorial Day is different. On this day, we honor not just those who’ve worn this country’s uniform, but the men and women who’ve died in its service; who’ve laid down their lives in defense of their fellow citizens; who’ve given their last full measure of devotion to protect the United States of America. These are the men and women I will be honoring this weekend, and I know many of you are doing the same.

So does that sound like a man who, to quote the attack you link to, “does not know the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day” so therefore he “does not take either holiday seriously?” Get real. Stop spreading lies.

    • Big Dog says:

Surprise surprise, Adam is wrong again. On Memorial Day we do not honor those who have worn the uniform. So to him Memorial Day is different because we honor those who have worn the uniform and those who have died. Sorry, that is wrong. He was right with the first part but wrong about the second.

No lies here. He specifically mischaracterized the holiday.

Be good Adam, many better than you died so you can say what you want and even burn a Flag.

      • Adam says:

“So to him Memorial Day is different because we honor those who have worn the uniform and those who have died.”

No. Read it in the context and you’ll see how silly you’re being. Look, you linked to a moron that was more interested in smearing Obama than he was in writing the truth. That doesn’t mean you have to keep carrying water for the guy and parsing out Obama’s words to smear him yourself. You can admit you were wrong and that Obama actually does understand something as simple as the difference between Veterans Day and Memorial Day. Or you can keep looking foolish. Somehow I already know which one you’ll choose…

  9. Mike Radigan says:

Let me see; a cartoon mocking the military and Memorial Day on Memorial Day within a Memorial Day Topic…

    • Adam says:

The cartoon does not mock the military or Memorial Day. I’m sorry that you’re not smart enough to understand that and you want to continue act offended for no reason.

      • Big Dog says:

Far be it from you to decide who is “smart” enough for anything. If brains were electricity you could not illuminate a 25 watt bulb.

        • Adam says:

Sorry. I don’t pretend to be smart. I just tend to check my facts more than you, Mike and Blake.

Blake can’t read for comprehension. Mike’s on his fainting couch because he thinks the flow chart is mocking Memorial Day when it’s really mocking moron Republicans. You’re linking to liars and having to carry water for the whole pathetic bunch. I guess you all deserve each other…

  10. Big Dog says:

Adam: Look, you linked to a moron…

And what exactly did you do with that flow diagram?

And yet you defend linking to it…

    • Adam says:

Okay, let’s go back over the facts here because clearly you’re getting lost.

I linked to a flow chart that accurately depicts how silly your side is for attacking Obama for doing what Republican presidents have done: Skipping Arlington on Memorial Day in order to take part in a military ceremony elsewhere.

You linked to a moron that gets a jab in at Obama for skipping Arlington while falsely suggested Obama doesn’t understand the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day despite Obama noting the difference in the very address the man is quoting from.

Can you do anymore in this thread to prove the accuracy of the flow chart I posted? I very much doubt it. But again the only important rule here is this: IOKIYAR.

      • Big Dog says:

You made the claim, you have to prove it. You will note I had nothing to say about Obama not being at Arlington. I am glad he was not there to dishonor the heroes.

The flowchart is false. It is some moron’s idea of a joke.

Look, you guys had a fit when Bush went on vacation or played golf. Obama MUST be held to that standard. He has been on a few vacations and played more golf in a year and a half than Bush did in 8. You all set the standard.

Now man up and live by it.

  11. Big Dog says:

Yes Adam, you check your facts with those who agree with you. And the person to whom I linked did not get it wrong. Obama said it plainly just like last year when he said he saw the dead soldiers, or are we lying about that as well?

    • Adam says:

“You made the claim, you have to prove it.”

You’ll have to remind which claim I’ve made here that I haven’t proven.

“Look, you guys had a fit when Bush went on vacation or played golf.”

During an 8 year period that saw two recessions, 9/11, a war in Afghanistan and Iraq, and Hurricane Katrina, Bush set a record for most days on vacation. Do you really think Obama playing a lot of golf somehow tops that? He plays basketball a lot too. Clearly he’s failing America, right?

“Yes Adam, you check your facts with those who agree with you.”

Sorry. I know that facts have a well known liberal bias and all, but they’re still the facts.

“And the person to whom I linked did not get it wrong.”

What did the guy get right if he did not get it wrong? He said Obama didn’t understand the difference between Veterans Day and Memorial Day despite Obama describing the difference in the part of his address which the writer didn’t quote. You can join this moron in ignoring the context in order to smear Obama but it doesn’t take a PhD to read those two paragraphs and know that Obama understands the difference.

“Obama said it plainly just like last year when he said he saw the dead soldiers, or are we lying about that as well?”

You’ll just have to link to that one because I don’t remember it. Your side has had so many bouts on the fainting couch since Obama beat McCain that it’s hard to keep track.

      • Big Dog says:

Fainting couch, oh that is rich. And coming from a wet noodle lib. I bet I can make you faint for real…

He made two statements and the context is that we have two days to honor the men and women in uniform AND IN ADDITION TO THAT on Memorial Day we honor those who died. Simple to understand, no wonder you can’t.

Let’s see, the first recession started on Clinton’s watch so how do you call it Bush’s? 9/11 was the result of Clinton weakness (Obama is much weaker), the wars were a result of an attack on us and authorized by Congress, including Democrats, and Katrina was a natural disaster. Obama will surpass the record (in the four years, he won’t get 8) and he has already played more golf.

I can understand. He does not know what he is doing so he might as well go play golf or basketball…

        • Adam says:

“He made two statements and the context is that we have two days to honor the men and women in uniform AND IN ADDITION TO THAT on Memorial Day we honor those who died.”

So now you admit that Obama knows we honor the dead on Memorial Day unlike Veterans day in which we simply honor the troops in general? But you’re still arguing that since Obama didn’t say something like, “We honor only the dead, not any other soldier, on Memorial Day” so therefore he doesn’t know what he’s talking about? Keep digging. You know you’re just nitpicking now. You cited a fool and it’s only making you look the fool yourself.

          “Let’s see, the first recession…”

I’m not specifically blaming Bush for those things (though the recession did not start under Clinton) so much as I’m pointing out that amidst some of our darkest times in recent US history Bush was using up more vacation time than any modern president ever has including President Reagan who had set the standard for excessive vacation.

          • Big Dog says:

I admit that Obama said we honor the living and dead on memorial Day so he must not know.

As for the recession. It started in 2000.

2001 was when we began to feel the bad effects and 9/11 made it worse.

So nothing Bush did caused them and they started on Clinton’s watch.

As for vacation, did not we hear the MSM justify Obama’s time off by saying he is never really on vacation? Then that would have to be for all of them.

  12. Adam says:

“I admit that Obama said we honor the living and dead on memorial Day so he must not know.”

I suppose you could see it either way if you were stubborn enough. But do you not feel absurd for complaining that Obama is honoring too many members of our armed forces on Memorial Day while he has clearly said the reason is to honor those that died?

“As for vacation, did not we hear the MSM justify Obama’s time off by saying he is never really on vacation?”

That’s the argument you’ve used in the past as well. No matter what, there is certainly a difference between a work day and a vacation day even for the POTUS. Bush took 3 times as many days vacation in his first year as Obama and took more than any modern President. The man liked his time off and he left folks like Cheney and Rumsfeld back in DC planning out ways to invade Iraq.

    • Big Dog says:

I am not sure Obama clearly indicated as you say but I also do not remember complaining about any of it. I linked to an article that you mischaracterized as a complaint for not going to Arlington.

I don’t care one way or the other as he is not the only one to make the mistake. I just point it out because of your endless defense of him. As you will recall, I mentioned it in correcting your incorrect assertion that it was a knock about not going to Arlington.

I do not care that he did not go to Arlington. I do not care if he knows the reasons for the holidays or not.

I already know how he feels about the military and the nation. He obviously does not like this nation or he would not need to fundamentally transform it.

We already have good fundamentals all spelled out in the Constitution. Since he has spoken of his dislike of the Constitution and he wants to change the fundamentals I know where he stands.

He swore to uphold it and he is working against it.
