Planting The Race Card

To follow up on Ray Nagin’s statement that new Orleans would be a black city, the way God wants it, we now have the annual Al Sharpton celebration that happens to coincide with Martin Luther King Holiday. Many politicians go to this event to get name recognition and it is like they need Sharpton’s blessing before they can be anointed into office. Here is one of the accusations made by a person to a candidate:

Charged Bertha Lewis of the ACORN housing group: “Nassau County is the third most segregated county in this country and you sir [Tom Suozzi] are the county executive.”

Why is it that when Ray Nagin wants his city to be predominantly black, or segregated if you will, no one seems to care yet when this place is segregated it is a crime? Maybe Suozzi should tell them he is making a vanilla city and then it will be OK.

The show stopper was Hillary Clinton who invoked the race card by saying:

“We have a culture of corruption, we have cronyism we have incompetence I predict to you that this administration will go down on history as one of the worst that has ever governed out country.”

Clinton actually got an easy question. “I need you to tell us what distinguishes Democrats from Republicans right now,” she was asked.

Clinton’s answer was provocative.

Said Clinton, “When you look at the way the House of Representatives has been run, it has been run like a plantation and you know what I’m talking about…”

Clinton must have forgotten about the last administration and the corruption that it was involved in. The same corruption that has Democrats redacting 100 pages of a report on that corruption. She is parroting the party line about culture of corruption for two reasons. First the donks want her to because it is the party line and second because she is trying, once again, to rewrite history. By depicting the Bush administration as the most corrupt she is trying to remove that title from her husband’s administration. For a woman who had her hands in illegal campaign contributions and who knew about and fudged the numbers for her own fund raiser, she has a lot of nerve to talk about corruption.

The plantation remark was patently a played race card. First of all, no one there knows anything about a plantation or being a slave on one (her obvious reference) since they were not even thought of (as in alive) when Republicans ended slavery. This is an annual pandering event and Clinton played to the crowd by invoking race. She will do anything to get elected but it is shameful to use race to promote a candidacy. Of course, no one expects anything less from the Senator from New York.
