The gas is pumped from the well- at that time, the price is the “wellhead” price, which is what I get a share of- then the price is marked up to make a profit. But what we in Texas pay at the pump, so to speak, is more here, than in say, New Jersey.
The “Quid pro quo” is simply a governmental give away for home heating gas for the Northeast- subsidizing the people in colder regions.

Darrel- if you look at the price of gas in the northeast, versus in say, Texas, where it is produced, there is a disparity in price that favors the northeast, to the detriment of Texas.
It amounts to natural gas welfare, and it has been going on for at least thirty years that I personally know of, as I have shares in several gas wells, so I DO know this to be a fact.

Natural gas is a world traded commodity. No on gets or gives a “discount” unless they have bargained for it. There must be some quid pro quo you don’t know about.

So, in that sense, the one where they get discount natural gas, they are welfare states who we have to carry on our backs because they will not drill off of their own coasts.

Yes,D- you are right, in that those others do not get back what they put in- I was transposing my feelings over the cheap Natural Gas they all get relative to what we, the producers of that gas, have to pay in our home state.

Well when you are going to be wrong, best to be TEXAS sized wrong and hit it out of the park. New Jersey is in fact the furthest, of all states, from being a welfare state, receiving only 61 cents for every dollar they pay in.

All the welfare states are red states, Texas being the only exception. Which is to say, every non-welfare state is a blue state, except for Texas.

ps. Oh, I think I see the misunderstanding. There is a difference between referring to a person on welfare, and referring to a state taking in more federal dollars than it paid out. If you had read my link you might have noticed this.
