Pelosi Gets Dumber Each And Every Day

Did you know that extending unemployment benefits will create jobs? Nancy Pelosi says that extending them would create 600,000 jobs!

“The unemployment insurance extension is not only good for individuals. It has a macroeconomic impact. As macroeconomic advisers have stated, it would make a difference of 600,000 jobs to our economy,” House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said at a briefing on Capitol Hill Real Clear Politics

How will paying people NOT to work create jobs? How will extending the time people can sit home and draw unemployment suddenly create in them a desire to get up and get a job?

How can taking taxpayer money (money we do not have) and paying it to people who are not working create more jobs? The only jobs I see possibly coming out of this are government jobs for people to handle the unemployment claims. Those jobs, if they were created, would cost more taxpayer money we do not have and would certainly NOT get anywhere close to 600,000.

No Nancy, extending unemployment will NOT create any jobs. Not one, not ten, not 600,000. If extending unemployment created that many jobs we would have no unemployment because we have extended those benefits out to more than two years. Those past extensions did NOT create jobs and any new extension will fail just as miserably.

This is typical liberal thinking (though the term thinking is a stretch) and it shows, once again, that liberalism is a mental disorder.

Cave canem!
Never surrender, never submit.

Nancy Pelosi is so dumb, that if you shot her in the head, it would only make her more intelligent, as then there would actually be something rattling around in that gourd she calls a head.
With the statements she makes, one just must shake their head-sooooooooooooo stupid that she should never be allowed to breed.

“Nancy Pelosi says that extending them would create 600,000 jobs!”

This is not something Pelosi made up but she’s citing Macroadvisors from August. So what do we see on that page? Extending unemployment will create 200,000 jobs over the next year. The payroll tax cut extension will create 400,000 jobs over the next year. That’s 600,000.

“How will paying people NOT to work create jobs?”

I’m glad you asked. See, the key is the phrase “macroeconomic impact.” It’s not about absurd idea of money directly creating jobs as you seem to want to suggest. It’s about working people having more of their own money to spend and unemployed having a temporary income. That spending greats GDP growth.

“If extending unemployment created that many jobs we would have no unemployment because we have extended those benefits out to more than two years.”

This is the same flawed logic you use to suggest that since we have joblessness then government spending doesn’t create jobs. That’s like saying if cops were trying to stop murderers there would be no more people being murdered.

    • Big Dog says:

No, spending the money for UE does not create jobs on a macro level or we would have plenty. The money is used (often fraudulently) to buy things from people who are already employed. Show where UE has created jobs. It is not a reality.

If cops ignored murders the murder rate would go down. That is how we get a lower UE rate, ignore those who have dropped out. There is a diference between flawed logic (not flawed here) and manipulating numbers.

  3. Adam says:

Of course, Blake. Don’t trouble yourself with looking into the facts of Pelosi’s statement. It’s much more fun just to daydream about shooting her in the head of controlling her reproductive rights.

  4. Gary M. Frank says:

Well, I’m in the 8.6% of those not currently in the work force, and I can assure you that the extension will NOT create any jobs. It doesn’t look like many of us even will see the extension anyway so the whole thing is just typical Democrat BS to buy votes.

Hey anyone looking for a solid employee in the Phoenix area, look me up.

I think I’ve got some moderated comments.

  6. Adam says:

My favorite line on this subject really shows the cluelessness of the right on the subject of economics and how they far they’ll go to smear someone like Pelosi without checking the facts:

Pelosi did not name those “macroeconomic advisers.”

Really? Apparently completely unware that the group Macroeconomic Advisers released the statement about 600,000 jobs back in August, they’d rather just put this out there so folks at Fox News can say things like Pelosi Has Totally Lost It.

“No, spending the money for UE does not create jobs on a macro level or we would have plenty.”

Maybe you didn’t notice that it’s talking about 200,000 in a year or about 17,000 a month. No one said unemployment was going to boom our economy. It’s just going to inject a bit of demand back in. Every little bit helps when our recovery is sideways many months and Europe threatens to pull us into a recession.

“That is how we get a lower UE rate, ignore those who have dropped out.”

People drop out of the workforce for many reasons.

    • Big Dog says:

Taking money we do not have and have to borrow to pay people who are not working does not help the economy and it does not create jobs, no matter how few you think…

      • Adam says:

Funny how tax cuts stimulate on a macroeconomic level but unemployment checks magically do not. You can’t have it both ways. It’s the same economic theory.

        • Big Dog says:

Tax cuts allow people to spend their money, money they earn in business or on the job and do not borrow. It allows businesses to hire with their money. UE is using money we have to borrow to pay for inactivity. Surely you can see the difference.

          • Adam says:

What do those differences have to do with how those dollars stimulate growth? Your argument is more about the principle of the matter and less about the economic reality.

      • Adam says:

Cao makes the same flawed argument as you do. I’d go tell her that but she’s banned me already simply for being a liberal. You know how afraid of debate she is. Sad.

  8. Big Dog says:

The difference is where the money comes from and how it works. People with their money can stimulate and employ. Spending money on UE does not cause jobs to be created.

    • Adam says:

Where it comes from makes no difference and you know it. You think it’s magic somehow? That only when people spend more of their own money does it stimulate GDP? When people spend unemployment dollars that doesn’t stimulate at all?

      • Big Dog says:

How can UE stimulate when the end result of borrowing or printing money to pay for it is higher prices, higher taxes and inflation? Spending OUR own money does not cause those problems.

        • Adam says:

It stimulates now no matter how we pay for it in the future. That’s the whole point. You’re making a completely different argument and has nothing to do with what Pelosi said.
