To Reconcile Or Not To Reconcile
by Big Dog on Feb 26, 2010 at 19:01 Posted in Political 4 Comments
The health care summit was held yesterday and I don’t think Obama and the Democrats were ready for the Republicans who came ready to discuss issues. In the end the thing was a waste of time because Obama’s position was basically, here is what I want now sign on or we will have to use reconciliation.
What? Come now Big Dog. Reconciliation was addressed a number of times by Republicans and the Democrats said that no one was discussing using it. As an aside, please do not get confused between reconciliation and the filibuster as Rachael Maddow did. Harry Reid said this:
No one has said — I read what the President has online — no one has talked about reconciliation but that’s what you folks have talked about ever since that came out, as if it’s something that has never been done before.” (“Transcript: White House Health Summit, Morning Session,” Kaiser Health News, 2/25/10)
So there you have it right from Harry Reid, no one has been discussing this except the Republicans who are getting all worked up over nothing.
According to The Hill, Harry Reid was interviewed and in a posting from 2/20/10 Reid was indeed discussing reconciliation.
“I’ve had many conversations this week with the president, his chief of staff, and Speaker Pelosi,” Reid said during an appearance Friday evening on “Face to Face with Jon Ralston” in Nevada. “And we’re really trying to move forward on this.”
The majority leader said that while Democrats have a number of options, they would likely use the budget reconciliation process to pass a series of fixes to the first healthcare bill passed by the Senate in November. These changes are needed to secure votes for passage of that original Senate bill in the House.
“We’ll do a relatively small bill to take care of what we’ve already done,” Reid said, affirming that Democrats would use the reconciliation process. “We’re going to have that done in the next 60 days.”
Remember now, Harry Reid was before America at the summit and said no one was discussing this. No one was discussing it except him, Pelosi, Obama and his staff. All of these no ones have been discussing reconciliation.
So, if as Obama says, no one cares how this gets done or America does not care about the procedures, why did Harry Reid lie?
The reality is that a lot of people do not like this bill. People like parts of it but they do not like it, especially how much it will cost and all the unnecessary things that give government more control over our lives. Reid lied because he knows people do not like it and it would be real difficult for him to explain why reconciliation has been decided upon prior to the summit.
Reid is a liar and he will lose come this November.
Remember folks, never trust a Democrat. The summit was full of deception and theater so they could say they tried.

Some of you might have noticed that my site was down for a portion of the day (the 3 of you who read it). Bluehost informed me that my site had been deactivated due to spamming. Evidently, someone who signed up for email is reporting the emails as spam.
Bluehost confirmed that I meet all the requirements under the TOS and reactivated the site. I have attempted to reroute the emails but that was unsuccessful.
If you receive emails from me and do not want them please click the link at the bottom of the email and you will be unsubscribed. If you have trouble with this you can contact me via the contact form and ask me to remove you and I will be happy to do so.
I do not add people to get emails so I cannot understand why someone would sign up and then report it as spam.

Obamabots To Invade Talk Radio
by Big Dog on Feb 26, 2010 at 03:02 Posted in Political 8 Comments
Not long after Obama took office he told people that they could not listen to Rush Limbaugh to get their information and he basically made Limbaugh, a private citizen who has been more successful in business than Obama will ever be, an enemy. He did this along with FOX News and conservative talk in general.
Conservative talk was insignificant, need not be listened to, was ground noise, static.
But it must be loud enough and have enough influence to make the Democrats pay attention because they are amassing the Obamabot army to call in to talk radio to talk up the health care plan. The Democratic National Committee’s Organizing for America has launched a campaign where supporters will listen to talk radio and call in when the debate is about health care so that they can talk it up.
“The fate of health reform has been a focus of debate in living rooms and offices, on TV and online — and on talk radio. And since millions of folks turn to talk radio as a trusted source of news and opinions, we need to make sure OFA supporters are calling in with a pro-reform message,” says the introduction to the online tool.
It will be fun to listen as pimple faced cellar dwellers call in to extol the virtues of a plan with their great arguments about it being a right and Republicans are mean. It will be great to listen to them get chewed up and spit out by people who are experienced at talking for a living and know how to debate an issue and who actually have knowledge of the subject.
The drawback for the left is that having these people listen to conservative radio might end up turning them away from the Democrat party and the health care takeover.
Now that would be funny.

Rebuke Joe Wilson, Leave Rangel Alone
by Big Dog on Feb 25, 2010 at 22:23 Posted in Political 12 Comments
The Democrats voted to rebuke Joe Wilson after he shouted “you lie” during Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress. The Democrats did not like what Wilson did and they will not stand for that kind of behavior. People who do wrong must be punished.
Charlie Rangel was found to have violated ethics rules when he accepted travel from a corporation that routinely lobbies Congress. The ethics panel found that the financing of the trip was improper for all members of the Congressional Black Caucus who went on it but Rangel was the only one found in violation because the others did not know the corporation paid for the trip.
So what did the Ethics Panel do about this infraction (one of many involving Rangel)? The Panel decided not to issue formal charges:
The committee decided against issuing formal charges against Rangel that could lead to punishment such as a censure.
The Panel decided against formal charges that could lead to punishment. Charlie Rangel deserves to be punished.
How is it that Wilson gets rebuked for shouting “you lie” but Rangel escapes charges?
This kind of puts Nancy “most ethical Congress” Pelosi in a bad position. What will she do with Rangel during this election year? He is sure to be a lightning rod during the upcoming campaign season.
If we are lucky this jive talking Don will not be in office next year.

About That Job Creation
by Big Dog on Feb 25, 2010 at 20:30 Posted in Political 10 Comments
Looks like the 95,000 jobs a month the administration is predicting hit a little snag:
The number of Americans filing for initial unemployment insurance surged to just below the 500,000 level last week, and have climbed more than 12% over the past two weeks, the government said Thursday. Money.CNN
Obama and his mouthpieces keep saying they “saved” or created millions of jobs.
The only thing I can figure is that they saved or created them in states 51 through 57…
Then again, if the White House can create ZIP codes and Congressional Districts out of thin air then it can certainly create jobs numbers the same way.
